that optional objective idea is VERY interesting, now I want to implement that in my modded rundown where you get to affect the story, just without optionals so you don’t miss out on your PE
give lore /s Jokes aside, happy to finally see a lore video covering everything. I don't follow much of the things happening in the community, and don't have time to drudge through the logs in game or out, so I'm glad to have a concise video to watch.
So, to recap: ALT:// Schaeffer knows that the Warden is trying to help purge the Sleepers, while regular Schaeffer wants to destroy the Warden. ALT:// Bishop, Woods, Hackett, and Dauda are going to help the Warden drive all the Sleepers to one dimension and trap them there, while regular BWHD are trying to destroy their Warden. Which dimension is the one that is completely fucked? The way I understood the video, most of humanity in the ALT:// dimension is dead while there is still some resistance in ours. Considering this, a perfect final two missions to GTFO would be E1: Destroy the Warden in the regular dimension so we can get our vengeance, and E2: Drive the Sleepers to the ALT:// dimension and help the ALT:// characters escape to our dimension. We can even get a final "extraction alarm" where we just mag dump into a portal of Sleepers coming out until it closes and we kill all of them. Also, if we are infected, the ALT:// characters can just toss us into an HSU, kill the virus, and let us out after a while, right?
The problem is that in ALT://R6CX you can see 2 of the characters' bodies at the end instead of hearing Schaefer's log when he was interacting with unit 22. (or 23 I forgot which)
@@Arlington_Menendez And we're not getting ALT:// R7/8, probably. Honestly, I don't think it would be THAT much of a problem to write around, you could just offscreen kill the ALT:// characters.
The only problem is that 10 chambers didn't make any other character models besides the characters we play as, and if you look at the bodies, they were the same cosmetics as the bots if you're playing alone.
As a lore digger myself "that specific level where devs throws straight forward hints about other dimensions" and bishops "another" mask - I actually prefer to think that it is a result of Kovacs cloning experiment, maybe something related to 'RISE" project, which can explain why our 4 guys can "respawn" and BIOCOM keep tracking success rate of missions. Waiting for my guys so we could jump straight into new 8.00 Rundowns missions and prove all theories! Quality content as always!
So the lore of GTFO is quite similar to the story of Lone Echo VR. Both games take place in the not-so-distant future with a highly persistent massive threat to humanity that takes more than one attempt to neutralise. I just hope we get to play the original rundowns again and won't be stuck with the alternate versions. It'd be a shame if all that was left of the original rundowns was archived data on a website, when it could remain a playable experience instead.
Something they could do, to continue where you ended off before the outro, is have us destroy the projector and then have the final mission we receive be "SURVIVE" or potentially even send us to the surface to see the sun one last time
It's been right under our noses this whole time. All prisoners in alt dimesion are color blind, that's why glowsticks are yellow. And here we thought the lore couldn't get any more spicy.
There is a non-zero chance it actually a loop of sort. Be it simply amnesia-induced, clones or something else. At 7:00 numbers are in increments of 4, which is a size of a party, with 4 more HSU units added, possibly previous group finished objective and they went into stasis. Would explain gaps in memory and changes in attitude - different loop being prior whatever event that affected an individual, while previous one being in the end of a loop. Whatever it is, Rundown 8 is where it's at. I don't actually follow the lore. Did a bit way back, but it's been while ago. Just shooting in the dark.
Introducing essentially a multiverse to the game opens up nearly infinity possibilities for the games future post R8 (If there is a future). Maybe our main cast even travels to another dimension at the end of R8 rather than picking up with a new set of our characters. I love the idea of us showing up in a different version of the complex thats significantly different or more dangerous. Of course thats incredibly optimistic for an already uncertain future but one can dream. :)
They said they were done with it. They're focused on den of wolves now, i wouldn't call that uncertain, i would call that a finished game. But modders will probably end up doing somthing similar to your idea so it's all good
I think something that would be really interesting and give a good twist is if the OG timeline accidentally warped themselves into the timeline that the alternate timeline was working towards and having rundown 8 be similar in missions lorewise up until the end where you see what happens. They would then be switched into eachother's endings on their stories with the OG timeline getting a good ending despite having a bleak outcome and the more fortunate sounding 2nd timeline getting tossed to a terrible fate.
too easy and heroic way for r8, i doubt the 4 will sacrifice themselves or something. They are prisoners after all, who would like to escape somewhere. The another dimension thing is real though. So, my guess is the 4 will be somehow interacting with the untouched dimension, preventing something, and most likely everything will go south together with warden and Shaeffer :D
I really hope your prediction is correct. I'm a sucker for sentiment. Can you imagine how fucking amazing it would be to finally get through that R8E1 level, you destroy the gate projector, you're stocked up on resources and you're suspicous, expecting to get your next objective. Surely, a challenging extraction? Just like you've always done. Except, no more objectives come. One final alarm blares through the facility, and the sleepers come. Every single variant is after you and they don't stop. They just keep coming. Your team is running, shooting, dying, until eventually you're down to just your knives and hammers when Dauda is mauled by a charger, taking it with him as he bashes its head in with one last swing. Hackett takes a barrage of hybrid shots to the face as he sees Dauda fall, while Bishop's spear is grabbed by a giants tongue as he's pummelled to the ground. Woods finds himself faced with one of the complex's many fathomless pits... and takes the plunge, as a sea of strikers follow him down. You expect to be met with the failure screen, but you're met with a new victory screen. "Extraction Complete. Thank you for your service, prisoners. You're free now." Roll Credits.
Nice recap! What is the lore behind Neonate? Could you give us a overview? Because I didn't understand until now why the hell we carry this damn thing on some missions!
tbh im not playing the game but i had that idea initially when they add rerun for s1 and s2 cos before when i start playing somewhere at late s4 or s5 i was like yeah it would be nice to see what game looks like before but initial idea of the game is that it have seasons but they moving forward so when they making up remake for old stuff its not like they just put old stuff for a reason ppl missing it and wanted to play which could be a big idea why i mean why not just reuse assets but its actually alt version which should mean something that its not original and story still moving forward
hold on, hold on, why keep someone behind? why not just program it to shut itself down and placing a timed bomb on some important part that is set to explode after its closed?
There is MORE to the game that the DEVS let us to believe. For now the game is DONE but in the coming future once they release their new upcoming games, they will visit this game again and they have 2 options. Either make an Expansion Rundown or Make a Sequel to connect all the pieces of LORE together. Either way both are GREAT!!!
You did a very good job compiling the lore of the games so thank you for that! I'm less of a fan of the multi dimension aspect the story seems to be heading for but can't please everybody i guess 😅
@@amongstsus9201In what way do you feel it's a lazy take? Often times it feels like a multiverse is just a way for earth shattering changes to be walked back or for nothing to be consequential. If you don't have an issue with that it's fine, though
We've already had portals and alternative dimensions in-game though when we hopped over to the other place, you may think it's lazy but we've been going there in-game already
Well it answered a couple of important questions for one. We couldn't tell where the hell we were going when we teleported, and we certainly couldn't tell if we were jumping into a parallel universe or somewhere else in space. I personally think the way it's presented is done relatively well
