Ha ha... Happy to help you! Please subscribe to my videos. More helpful CRV videos that may make you achieve hero status again.
😂 awesome
@@mitchcox mine went out but the cable has some black stuff around the harness( like black powder) around and close to the plug ......is it burned or is normal? should still try to replace the bulb? thank you
10 years later this video is still helpful. Thanks for creating this. It was exactly what we needed to get this task done.
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching and letting me know that my video continues to help people. Take care.
One of the easiest repairs I've ever done thanks to this video. Took about 5 minutes to change both bulbs and my wife is a happy lady again. Thank you.
Thank you for this great comment! I am always happy to hear that my video is helping make wives happy!! Ha! You take all the credit! It’s a win win!! Take care. Please consider helping me out and Subscribe!
Outstanding video ! After spending 45 trying to figure out how to replace my CRV headlight bulb, I went and looked up your video on UA-cam. It took less than 15 minutes thanks to your spot-on tutorial !
THANK YOU!! So great to hear that my videos continue to help people after all these years. Thank you for watching and letting me know. I really appreciate you. Take care.
Thank you. My passenger lights were blown, and I was driving with one light on and was so scared I'd be in trouble for it. Unfortunately, my husband went on a trip, and I had no help. So I searched for the correct bulb and found your video online the following morning. It was beneficial, and I've saved some money for a mechanic. Confidence restored.
Thank you! this is fantastic and exactly why I created these videos. To help people save money and realize they can do a lot of things themselves. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know my video was helpful. Take care and please support my channel by subscribing.
Just dropping in from 2020, thanking you for posting this: it was immensely helpful and very clear to follow.
Great! Happy to hear that my video is continuing to help people even in the future. LOL. Please like and subscribe. More CR-V videos coming soon. From the 2020 CR-V.
Was coming to say the exact same thing. Just replaced driver's side, while following your vid. Less room but still easy without having to remove anything else to get to it. Thanks for the help. Liked and subbed
Same mate! Cheers
I just changed my driver's side headlight bulb on my 'O9 CR-V and I wished I watched this video first before attempting it. I struggled for about a half hour cursing because there was no room to work on the driver's side with the fuse block and I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I'm sure I've replaced both of the bulbs in the past and I don't remember struggling quite so mightily as I did today. I remember about 6 or 7 years ago both bulbs died within a day of each other and I changed out both of them. What must have happened is that the passenger side must have went first which is a much easier replacement. Then when the driver's side died the following day, I at least knew the sequence of steps needed to replace it. Well today I completely forgot all of the necessary steps and figured it all out by trial and error. However, that fuse block on the driver's side is so close, there's practically no room to work. Oh well, this time I'm storing it in the memory bank and saving this video for when I need to do this again. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes. The drivers side is very tight. Doing the passengers side first gives you a little more room to understand what you need to do. Thanks for saving my video. Please subscribe to my channel. I have several videos on the CR-V that may be helpful in the future. Take care.
This video was straight forward and easy to follow.
Mine burnt out on the driver side. It was a little more tight but if you take your time and follow this video it is very manageable.
Great video!
Great! Happy to hear that my video helped you out. Please help me out and subscribe. Take care.
Thanks for sharing this... I changed my 2006 cvr bulbs. Took me less than 5 min. I was doubtful at first to try it myself, but it was so easy and felt so proud to give it a shot. keep helping people by sharing your knowledge, it inspired me to do the same.
Thx so much . As a woman i try to be very independent not needing a man to do things for me and i watched your video and changed both bulbs in less than 10 min
This video was spot on for my 2013 CRV. Great suggestion re 1) doing both at the same time--they are generally sold in pairs in fact; and 2) starting with the passenger side, which is easier to access and see what's going on. Two suggestions. First, take a look on Amazon for the lamps. They were about half of the price of the ones I bought at NAPA ($25 vs $50). Second, I held a headlamp near the opening so I could see what was going on better. I was nervous about getting the clip off from watching the video. It turned out to be a piece of cake. I changed each in less than two minutes each. Thx for the great video!
Jack Colyer thank you for the great comment. I am glad to hear that my video continues to help people. I have several other CRV videos so be sure to check them out. You can subscribe so I am easier to find when you do need my videos. Thanks again. Take care.
$8.97 at Walmart. LOL.
At Walmart from China. LOL You get what you pay for.
Ah thank you for commenting Jack. I wanted to be sure I had the right video for my 2013. I can't believe how it is getting up there in years.
Have you ever cleaned the lens cover? Mine are really cloudy. I drive with the fog lights on so I can see the road.
Awesome.. Just did them... You are right, drivers side a bit less space available to work in...but only took a few extra minutes.... hardest part for me was the clip on drivers side! Thanks for the easy to follow video! It was great.
Great to hear my video helped you out. Thank for commenting and letting me know. Please subscribe to my videos. It’s free for you but helps me tremendously. Take care.
Great video. Just a note on the changing the passenger side... Very little room to work with as has been pointed out. I struggled mightily getting the clip to lock back in once the new bulb was in place. Ultimately, I was able to get it done using a pair of needle nose pliers (instead of my fingers) to hold the clip and push in and then down to lock it in. I think the longer/thinner needle nose pliers the better. My suggestion to all is have them ready before you even start.
Wasn't very confident at first. Had appointment scheduled at dealership. Thought to give it a try , was pleasantly surprised. It took less than 5 minutes Wow! Thank you, for taking the time.
Great to hear that my video continues to help people learn they can do things on their own and save some money!! Thanks for watching and commenting. Please subscribe. I have several other Honda videos that may come in handy sometime down the road. Take care.
My ex-boyfriend used to help with such tasks, but today I replaced the headlight with help from your video. So awesome. Thanks!
Awesome. Glad my video helped you out. Please subscribe I have other helpful Honda videos and more coming soon.
Car Manual made it look easy. Was replacing both lamps and started with the driver side knowing that would be the hardest. Got as far as the weather seal and got stumped on how to unhook the clip. Got on youtube and found your video. Was done with both lamps in less than 10 mins. Thanks for posting… Such a big help.
Awesome comment. Glad my video helped you out. Comments like yours motivate me to make more videos. Thanks!
+mitch cox really appreciate that you took the time to make and upload this video man! you have a great way of explaining things and have good lighting and camera work. my only suggestion would be to focus in a little better otherwise a really awesome and helpful video!
Worked perfectly for my 2011 CRV. Had them both changed out in about 10 minutes. Thanks for posting this video, it was most helpful!
Thank you! I was able to replace my 2013 Honda CRV's headlight bulbs after watching this video. One of my weather seals is missing and that must be why one of my headlights has condensation in it. A previous mechanic must have lost the weatherseal and not bothered to say anything. Thank you so much for this helpful video.
Thanks for letting me know that my video helped you out. I am sure you can find a new weather seal on Amazon or a parts dealer. Please consider subscribing. I have other Honda videos that may help you out in the future. Take care.
Thank you! I watched your video and then changed my headlights in a parking lot at night with really no issue at all! This was a lifesaver since my husband was out of town. You're awesome!
ellen perry WOW! Thank you so much for letting me know. Always great to hear that I helped someone out. Please subscribe. I have quite a few CRV videos that may help you out in the future.
Ellen, a lot of auto parts stores will install simple things like this for no charge. I wish I'd had them install this. :)
Thanks Mitch! You should send this to Honda. The drivers manual doesn't come close. You just saved me time, money and aggravation! Thanks so much.
I have to drive an hour each way every other weekend on a dark highway to do drop off/pick up for my kiddos. I've been putting off changing my headlights for 2 winters now. They work, but they're crap and I find myself driving with my brights on the entire drive and my lights still aren't half as bright as newer headlights 🥲 My dad bought me some and I'll be getting them when I pick my kids up this evening. Debating on changing them right there at the gas station, or just suffering through one more trip of driving blindly in the winter 🤦♀️ Anyways...I REALLY appreciate the video. I'll be doing it myself and it makes it a lot less intimidating to see the steps involved and also to know what tools I may need. Thank you a million. You're appreciated!
I am clueless when it comes to vehicle maintenance. This video was easy to follow even for me and saved me $70. Thanks!
Don’t worry. That’s why videos like this exist. To help others. I am glad my video helped you and saved you so much money!! We definitely need to save where we can these days. Take care my friend.
Very useful! Using it for the second time.
Just one comment re the use of glove - while you surly don't want to touch the glass part of the bulb with bare fingers to avoid transferring oil onto it, you should avoid doing the same with a dirty glove, as some of the dirt is likely oily as well.
Best advice is to simply avoid touching the glass part of the bulb.
Thanks for watching and commenting. if you use new rubber gloves, you shouldnt have any oil on them unless you touch your face or other hand, etc.. You will definitely have less chance of getting the bulb dirty by using gloves. But you are right, best advice is to not touch the bulb. Sometimes its hard to avoid. So its always good to wear gloves if you have them. Please subscribe. Thank you and take care!!
Thank you Mitch!!! Very detailed, informative, and easy to follow. Straight to the point instructional video with no filler content! I was able to replace my headlight in less than 5 mins! Thanks a million! You the man!
Thank you for appreciating and commenting on my video. Glad to hear that it is continuing to help people. Take care.
Had to scroll through a bunch of useless videos to find this one which was actually instructive and exactly what I needed! 🎉
Wow. What a nice compliment. Thank you so much for letting me know that my video was helpful. Take care.
It's Sept 2018 and your video is still helping people. Awesome. Bought the bulb at the auto parts store and changed the bulb right there in the parking lot. Took about 10 minutes. Thank you very very much.
Thank you. The clarity of your presentation and your attention to camera angles made this easy. Both bulbs in less than 10 minutes!
very thankful for this videa. thanks a lot! I changed the headlight bulbs yesterday and I must say it is extremely easy, I advise everyone to do it themselves. The electric cabled pulled out very easily, the grommet came off super easily, when you insert the bulb just make sure the third prong is pointing up
Thanks for watching and commenting. Appreciate you letting me know that my video helped you out. Take care and please subscribe.
My boot came off with the bulb. I was still able to figure it out (maybe). Although I'm not sure the clip is put back on correctly. But hey they are working. Only time will tell.
Thank you for putting up a direct and concise video. Truly appreciated!
Thanks for watching and commenting. I am happy to hear that my video is helping people. Please subscribe. Take care.
bought new bulbs for my 08, not that they were burt out but wanted brighter ones. Seeing this video will make things a bit easier. thanks for posting.
This worked great on my 08 CRV. Thanks for the simple video. I haven't worked on a car in about 10 years and it took me about 5 minutes to change my bulb after watching your video.
Okay I can’t believe how easy that looks. I’ve had my 2008 all this time and never needed new bulbs till now. The high beams are good but the low beams are quite dim.
Thank you very much Mitch!
I just changed the driver's side "by feeling" since the space is very small, your video allow me to get confident
Thanks a lot. This made changing my bulbs a lot easier. I couldn't figure out how to unclip the fuse box on the driver's side to create a little more room, but it really was no problem with it in place. I was done with both replacements in ten minutes.
Watched your video last night after I realized the headlights on the 2008 CR-V we just bought my daughter were dimmer than the turn signals! Picked up a pair of new NightVision Brilliant bulbs from NAPA this morning and had them installed in less than 15 minutes after watching your video once. Your video was perfect! Thanks so much!
@mitchcox, hello from North America. I just changed the passenger side head bulb after watching your super helpful video 🎉. It's a Honda CRV 2007. I was a bit scared at first but I recalled all your steps and carefully completed the process. Thanks a lot!!
Nice work! Happy to hear that my video helped you out. Take care.
Thank you for saving my sanity 🙏. You're like the Boss Ross of mechanics and your voice/warm personality kept me calm throughout. I've even queued up a few more of your videos just for entertainment purposes...you're awesome my friend 😊
Wow, thank you! Thanks for the comment. That’s very kind of you. Thanks for watching. Please consider subscribing. More videos are coming soon.
I should add that I tried to follow the instructions in the Car Manual first, but they didn’t help me at all. Your video, however, was spot on!
Awesome!! Thank you so much for letting me know that my video was helpful. I really appreciate it. Take care.
Popping in with another thanks! I couldn't get my fuse box out of the way enough to see how to undo the clip to get the bulb out, and your video was so helpful. Thank you!!!
Thank you for watching and commenting. I really appreciate you letting me know that my video helped you out. Take care.
Thanks a ton for the clear instructions! I honestly thought it was going to be a lot harder, but it took my only a few minutes!
Hope your doing well!
Thanks John! Happy to hear that my video continues to help people. Please help me out by subscribing. I have other CRV videos that may help you out in the future. Take care of yourself.
Thank you very much for the video. The first time I tried to change the head light, I took off the whole clip (mistake) And could not get it back on. 3 hours later with a friend also trying to help we could not get it back in. It took a garage mechanic, took him about 30 minutes to figure it out. Now I know, to just unclip it and swing the clip aside like a door.... I just replaced another bulb in 5 minutes. Thank you!!!!
So funny. I feel your pain. Sounds so much like my life.
Nice job Mitch. Cannot assume all bulbs are secured the same way. You made replacing one a lot easier!
Thank you! Happy to help. Take care. Happy holidays.
Awesome.... If u could make a full how to change the starter, water pump, drive belt , alternator. You'll be my hero.... Thank u for the good videos
I changed my halogens on my 2007 Honda CRV for Auxito H4 9003 LED bulbs. There was concerns by others that the daytime running lights wouldn't work but mine worked perfect along with the low beam and high beam.
Great! So happy to hear that my video helped you out. Please subscribe. Thanks.
Just wanna let you know that in March 2021 your video is still a big help! Thank you!!!
Awesome! So happy to hear this and I appreciate you commenting and letting me know. Please consider subscribing to my channel. It’s free to you but helps me greatly. Thank you and take care!!
Thanks so much bro! I could not figure out for the life of me why the bulb wouldn't come out, and upon watching the video I realized the metal clip was hiding inside the housing! Appreciate the video!
I made an appointment to have headlight bulbs replaced but since I've watched your video, I'm going to give it a try! I'll update soon.
Thanks! Fixed my wife's car tonight. Could not find the rubber cover without you!
Thank you so much for such a user-friendly, and completely thorough video. I was able to replace the passenger’s headlight bulb myself in minutes! Good point about replacing both at the same time. Thank you!
Thanks Mitch! Just replaced both lights in less than 10 minutes in 30 degree weather while snowing, in the dark with a small flashlight!
Awesome! Glad I could help!
Thank you so much for being thoughtful about the lighting and your hand positioning, and clear instructions
You are so welcome! Glad you found my video helpful. Take care.
Thank you for your video. It helped me a lot. Changing the driver side bulb on an 07 CRV is a huge pain in the ass. I found that using long nose pliers helped to remove that rubber gasket. I could grab the tabs better. Also, that little wire hooks under that tab as well. I had a hard time seeing it.
Thanks sir! This video help me a lot! All the UA-camr that makes tutorials should have the a pass to heaven
Ha ha. I am a man of faith so hopefully I am in with or without the UA-cam tutorial. Ha ha. Take care.
Replaced bulbs about 3 years ago... Original bulbs lasted 11 years, but not my replacements. Go figure! Had to return to YT and refresh my memory for installation. Process had taken me almost 10 mins to complete. Took a few to get the bulbs to sit in their housing properly, and then clip them back in. Fun trying to do a project whilst not looking at it directly.
Because I think my bulbs weren't very good for the replacement, adding a comment here to recheck time frame for next replacement.
Thanks for coming back to my video. I am glad it helped you out then and again recently. Some higher quality bulbs will last longer than others. Also be careful not to touch the glass part with your hands. The oil from your fingers can cause the bulbs to fail quicker. Please subscribe and favorite my video so you can find it easily next time you need it. Take care.
Thanks, I can never remember where that clip goes. My future son-in-law changed thebulb. It worked a bout 2 weeks ago and quit. I found a small piece of metal loose inside the bulb. I replaced it and it works great. I have always been an American car guy but I have to say that a lot of things still work on the Honda with 183,000 miles. That to me is remarkable. Except for the side ways engine in the Honda Odyssey. That's a booger to work on. thanks, george
patchreefs thanks George!! Glad I could help! Yes. Honda’s seem to run forever!! Take care!!
Thank you so much for making this video. Someone just tried to charge me $45 per bulb (apparently both my lights are out) & I refused because that just seemed ridiculous for light bulbs. I can totally do this on my own thanks to your video.
*Update*I have successfully changed both my headlights all by myself for under $40 🤩
Great! So happy to hear it when people let me
Know that I saved them some hard earned money. Many things I definitely would let the mechanic do, but there are so many things you can do on your own and save your money. Thanks for watching and the update. Please subscribe.
Nicely done, Mitch. Thanks for taking time with the details - reasons for starting with passenger side, benefit of gloves, etc.
Thank you !! I was able to do it myself, my husband whose deployed would be proud hahaha
Did he make it home safe?
Thank you so much! This video was extremely helpful. I had my light changed at autozone and the guy put it in upside down and I had to fix it myself. Your video was the first to come up and I am so grateful. Much thanks from 2022! And I subscribe.
Thank you for the nice comment and thank you SO MUCH for subscribing.
THANK YOU!!!!!
I was able to do this myself as someone who knows nothing about cars this was SO helpful
Great! So happy to hear that my videos continue to help others. I really appreciate you commenting and letting me know. I have other CRV videos. Please subscribe. Thanks again.
Thank you! You just saved me so much money! And earned me a lot of praise from the men in my life😊
You're so welcome! Thanks for letting me know that my video was helpful. Take care.
Thanks for uploading this vid and all the instructions. My wife and I just changed the lights in under an hour. 😊❤
Great job! Thanks for letting me know. Take care.
The instructions were simple and easy to follow. I had both lights changed in under 10 minutes. Thank you so much!
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know that my video was helpful. Please consider helping me out and subscribe! Take care.
Good job Mitch. Two things to make it better:
- Use a tripod if at all possible or if that won't work in the confined space, support the camera with a bean bag, a towel or anything that will sit steady on a surface while cradling the camera. Unless you are experienced in hand-holding, your body is your enemy.
- Use a camera that has a lens with a MACRO adjustment. There is no way you can get in focus while close in without either a very wide lens with a lot of depth of field or better, a lens with a macro adjustment that enables you to be in focus as close as an inch or two.
Thanks. I replaced my lights probably 3 or 4 times so far since I got my CRV. I always end up watching this video first. Half way through, I remember it from last time haha! I'll come back to this comment when I change them next time lol
Thanks for being a repeat watcher. I appreciate you finding my video time and time again. Please subscribe and it will make it easier to find next time. Take care.
says....I just discovered that my headlight is out and do not have time to take it to the shop. It looks simple enough that I should be able to replace it myself. Thanks for posting this DIY video.
Thank you!! You helped me impress my mom, neighbors, and one (1) dog named Bailey ❤️
Ha ha. Great! It takes a lot to impress a 🐶!! Happy to hear that my video helped you out. Please help me out by subscribing to my channel. Thanks!! Take care.

Yeah! its a bit tight but can be done. Thanks for watching and letting me know that you found my video helpful. Take care.
Was very easy to replace my 2008 headlights thanks to this video. Took 12 minutes for both of them.

thanks a lot for posting that well explained tutorial, now I think I'm ready to take on the challenge replacing my bulb.
BIG thumbs up to you from Long island , New york.
Definitely a good video. Just clean the headlights and the Bulbs blew last night while my wife had the car. Hoping to do it tonight. Woo
Thanks! Appreciate you letting me know you enjoyed my video. Please subscribe. Take care.
Thank you in advance 😊 I just about to change my 2011 CRV.I’ll keep you updated how it goes
I have faith in you. Do the passenger side first. The other side is tight but once you do one side you have a good idea on how to do the other. Good luck to you. Thanks for commenting and let me know how it goes.
Thanks, just had to replace the drivers side bulb and didn't think there was enough room, once saw what I needed to do I swapped it out in about 5 minutes.
Just a tip on pulling out the rubber weather seal, do it alternately since there are 3 flaps provided. This will make it easier to take it out.
Awesome video. Ibhave a 2007 Honda CR-V. Just replaced my front right head light by myself for the 1st time 5 minutes ago. Thanks so much. Will do the Break lights on Monday
Awesome to hear! Thanks for letting me know that you found my video helpful. Please consider helping me out by subscribing. Take care.
This is the best video for headlight replacement I have found (and I have watched many). Much appreciated!
Wow, thanks! Appreciate the kind words. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please support my channel and subscribe. Take care.
Thanks for the great video! We had our CRV since it was brand-new in 07, this is the first time I've had to change the bulbs, took me less time than your video! Thanks again!
HowdyasayFlapjack Awesome! Glad I could help make your life easier! Thanks for the comment.
Just changed the headlight in my 2009 CR-V for the first time ever, thanks for making this video!
Great! Thanks for letting me know this helped you out. I appreciate it. Take care and Happy New Year!
And the other one just went out too, replaced it as well. Thanks again!
Yes! I just watched the video one time through and then played it through while changing the bulb!!! Thank you for the video.

Super! Thanks for letting me know my video helped you out. Always like to hear that I save people money.
I was pretty apprehensive about doing it myself, but watched your video. Wow, super easy and straightforward. Thanks for sharing. 😎👍
Glad it was helpful! I know the driver side is a bit tight, but once you see the process and know what to do, its easily something anyone can do. Thanks for watching and Please subscribe! its free for you but helps me out. Take care.
Thank you! It was so easy to replace the bulbs after watching your video.
Great! Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care.
I just wanted to thank you so much ..your video was very helpful ..just changed my lights in about 15 minutes as well..if I hadn't watched your video that spring would have had me held up for about half an hour lol..thanks so much
Thank you. This was a big help for my 2009 CRV. I was really confused with the rubber grommet thingy. Now I know. Thanks again!
Great! Glad to hear that my video helped you out. Take care.
Thank you for making this easy. Feeling empowered now!
You're so welcome!
Thank you! Just did both headlights with your directions. Saved me a trip to a mechanic!
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. Please subscribe.
Thank you thank you thank you! My dad lives far away and he's whe one who knows how to do all this stuff 😅 I went to a shop to buy 1 bulb and they didn't know how to put the boot back as they thought the cable needs to go through it first before put it in 😅they asked me to come home and try it by my self 😂😂
And it was as simple as this😂
Thanks so much!
That is awesome! I am so happy to hear that my video helped you out. You are far more capable of doing so much more than you believe. I believe in you. Please consider helping me out by subscribing. You never know if you might need my video again. Take care.
Bulb is the 9003 and can be found everywhere including Wally World for $20 a pair for the upgrades, $50 a pair for the high-end model. Do replace them in pairs so they will match. Be aware that the fancy hi-output bulbs will not last as long as the originals, sometimes only a year. Check Google to find the ones that match your needs and budget. This is a 5 minute per bulb fix, and so easy your wife could do it.
Great video !
Forgot about that hidden rebent paper clip .
Thank you. Instructions in manual asked to removed fuse box, but was unable to release it on one side. Will try without that step now that I have seen it done.
Spot on video, needed the tip of how to reattach the clip holding the bulb. Did the driver's side first since it was the burnt out one, so the other was super easy! 2011 CR-V.

Hey Mitch, thanks so much for posting this! I changed the bulb on the DRIVER side. What a pain, you can't really see what you're doing because of the fuse box. I did move it a little out of the way and also moved the bracket holding it partly out of the way by removing one bolt. I pretty much did it by feel, since there really wasn't a way to see. The young man at Auto Zone sold me two bulbs and told me the other bulb would be going soon. Did I get taken?
No. Generally when one goes out the other isn't too far behind it. So it's not a bad idea to change them both at the same time. Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad my video helped you out.
