Tim, This is an awesome video . I’ve seen a few Tesla M3 up at Hotham and wondered how they got there. Great you’ve demystified that. Curious to understand how much you spent on charging for the trip.
Thanks mate, it's a bit niche this video :) As for charge spend I put the stats for each charge in the vid. In my old 2014 CX5 petrol I've done this exact journey for about $300 in petrol in July 2024, whereas it would be less than $100 of charging in the Tesla. And of course much more relaxing with autopilot and the silence of an EV.
Thanks a lot! Yes, sentry is famous for draining a battery, particuarly if there's frequent movement around the car. But quite a lot of battery loss overnight purely from the cold, something like 5-6% overnight in Bright as the car was outside in negative temperature. Wheel chains, I bought a set off fb marketplace for $50. Just make sure the chains fit the tyre size and profile on your car.
Yes, that's the plan! We are hoping Tesla will open up more superchargers to non Tesla vehicles (especially the Euroa supercharger) as it'll make the trip to Bright pretty easy. There are other EV chargers on the Hume (eg as mentioned in the video the Shell at Euroa) plus in Benalla and the BP at Glenrowan, however the Superchargers have the highest reliability of all the chargers we've used

Well documented video well done. Partially % loss attributed to sentry on at falls creek. Do you get your own wheel chain
