I bought a new 2016 white PCX about a week ago. Put 108km on it so far just tooling round our neighbourhood. I've ridden lots of bikes, big n small, over 20 yrs and am loving this little scoot.
Gator Greg. Absolutely love your videos. I have been looking for a scooter and have been undecided. Your videos have definetely swayed me towards the PCX 150. I hope you continue to make videos. I really enjoy your commentary and explaining everything about the bike! It's been very helpful!
+Gator Greg is there a way I can email u questions? If I buy a scooter it will also be in Florida (daytona beach area) so if u have any suggestions on dealers. That would be great too.
+Joe Quattrocchi I just used cycletrader.com to find what I wanted - a white 2015 - and by the time I was shopping in late summer there was only one left that I could find anywhere in my area - so that made my choice of dealer an easy one - LOL. It does seem like the dealers in our area put all their new PCX's on cycletrader and in looking just now I still see a few leftover black 2015's and even a new black 2013 and I see quite a few 2016 red and grays to choose from. So I would recommend you try to pit them all against each other to a certain extent to try to save some money. Good luck!
Of course its a good ride. I've had one since the beginning of 2015, after complying with the licence system here in Brisbane. Though the market is flooded from the 50cc to 300cc the upper levels of the market is where scooters max out, and I was looking at the Hondas anyway over the other Japanese and European scooters, the 150 is a standout. It might be Thai built, but it is a Honda. My speedo reads between 10 and 10,500kms. I have found my machine will do 110kph, which is about 90 miles. But it is governed at that speed, as it is the max speed limit in Queensland. So I believe whilst 160kmh might seem like a pipe dream, 140 is a realistic max out, though I wouldn't want to be doing that speed too often. It would be unstable. I have found it to be great at slowing once you lessen the throttle. I can say that people prefer to be in front me. Mostly I let them go. I believe they percieve me to on a 50cc machine and therefore it "gutless". I can say this isn't the case. You won't drag motorbikes on this, but if you ride properly you can beat most cars, only those who can't face being beaten by a scooter will be the drivers that cause the problems. Fortunately due to being such a well behaved machine you can deal with these people who want to cut you off.
Yeah it's funny just yesterday I was stopped at a light in the right lane with a car in the left lane beside me. A pickup truck pulls up behind me and at the last second decides to switch to left lane - I'm assuming he thought I was on a slow scooter and he'd be better off being behind the car. So when the light turned green I took off and left them both so far behind that they never caught up - of course the speed limit was only 45 so being able to hit 60 pretty quick is great for a scooter on that kind of road.
Glad to see scooters making a comeback. I had the Honda Elite 125 and later the Honda Helix 250 back in the day. Great, great memories. I may have to look into getting this one. :)
I've been doing my research I believe that the PCX 150 is for me, at 66 years old is the best deal going. I pretty much lost most of my Ricky racer tendencies. There is nowhere I have to go that I can't get there by the back streets. Good review thumbs up.
Thankyou very much. I bought a Honda CB300F Last summer 2015 and still have not gotten my license. I am thinking of trading it in on this. So easy to operate. I also Love the pearl white.
Pearl White is coming back to USA for 2017 models - along with a dark blue - I just saw it on Honda's website - no other changes for 2017 as far as I could tell. I would keep the 300 if you need to go fast though.
Thanks for a plain-speaking review. I am thinking of replacing my Suzuki Address 125 (2010) with a PCX150. It will be for work-and-back, which is only about 5 miles each way, but needs to be 'O.K.' for 2-up day trips, too. Here in Japan, unbelievably, the PCX we get is made in Vietnam. In fairness though, it was not intended for the Japanese market to begin with, and PCX here is labeled as a 'reverse-import'. I have a 2012 V-Strom 650, too, so this would not be my only bike, and would not be used for 'planned' long distances, but I do want a small maxi scooter that does not struggle with a passenger (me and my lady = about 140 kilos/300 pounds total). The 125 I have now is great for that, and will cruise at 45 mph/ 70kph 2-up, but the seat is too short by far, that's all. Gives me about 105-115 miles/US gallon (40 kilos/litre). Anyway I got off track a bit there. Thanks for the video. I love the look of this, and according to some websites, as the Majesty S - a.k.a. V-Max, has a steel frame, this PCX is a little better on fuel.
+Gator Greg I bought a 2015 model 150cc PCX in Jan 2016. 3 months later I am pleased with the fuel economy, the comfort compared to my Address 125, the smooth acceleration from a start and the fairly smooth low speed fueling and easy filtering. I am not pleased with the engine noise, the lack of power compared to the Suzuki Burgman 200cc which I considered as an alternative the the PCX, the ease with which a side-wind, even a mild one, swipes me across the lane. It's a white bike and has the LED lights, so it looks very sweet, but I did not buy it for looks as I don't care about looks much at all. Overall, I am pleased with the bike for the money so far. It was 300,000 Yen for a 10-month-old one with 4,400 kilometres on the clock. It was intended to replace my Address 125 for work and back, but I have decided to keep the Address for work and back (stop-and-go) round-town work, and have the PCX for my frequent 40 kilometre bypass road ride with little braking and steady comfort.
As a courier I need the space of a scooter, as my job is all about what and how much I can carry. I started using the idling stop function. I don't know if it saves fuel, but I will only know if I try it. The other people on the road are mostly decent although I got hooted by a driver who though I'd indicated decided to roar up behind me. The speed limit is 40kmh in Brisbane now, but this driver was definitely doing 60 kph when she decided she wasn't going to slow. what a cow of driver.
The 125 version still uses the same bottom end so its well under rated and makes them ultra reliable . Loads in Europe with well over 40000 trouble free miles on the clock. About 60 to 65 is the best you can get with the 125 but it will cruise at 50 -55 all day and return at that speed 110 to 120mpg ( imperial ) Many are used as scenery tourers where the journeys views are more important than carving the corners or the time of arrival. Each type of riding has merit. Stay safe guys happy riding.
I'm planning to get my self one of these real soon if not then a Yamaha vity 125. Here in London traffic is a nightmare and, I'm spending way too much on public transport.
Great review. You & I own the same scooter (White) Like you, I took advantage of the $500.00 discount for the 2015 model. They just got in the 2016 "Space Grey" & I have to admit, I like that color better. White is perfect in Florida. I keep this down @ our 2nd home in Stuart. I own a Kymco GT300i back home in Gloucester, MA. I have no complaints myself. Would have been nice if the rear was disc, but braking is very solid just the same. Thanks for sharing! Well done & you have a "radio" voice!
+Alex Moore Thanks - hopefully I don't have a radio face to go with it LOL. That's great that you got a discount on the '15 - I'm interested to see what Honda decides to do for '17.
Nice review. Good video and well narrated. Too bad you ran out of memory. I went from a 300cc scooter to a 300cc Honda motorbike. Now I'm considering adding this scooter to the stable. While the motorbike has a superior ride, the frequent shifting is not as efficient in town as the CVT.
Yeah a 150cc scooter would make a nice companion to a motocycle - having the ability to just twist and go along with the storage capacity under the seat makes the PCX a super convenient and easy to ride machine. But you're not gonna get the same thrills as you get shifting gears on even a 300cc motorcycle.
Question. Going to buy the exact same bike (2015 Honda PCX, Pearl white) with 1400 miles. Seller is firm on $2000 price. Do you think that is a fair price?
My 2 cents . I bought a 2013,33,300. Yes 33,300 miles now has 40100 . Runs like new . Minimal maintaince repairs . Best scooter I've ever owned. Had 87 honda 150 elite still do. 2003 derbie atlantis 50cc,traded my 2004 suzuki burgman 400 for this with half the milage and never looked back . It's like a pack mule and gas usage is consistent and any parts are more than reasonable of line from babbits. Buy it if you like it.
My 2018 low mileage Honda PCX 150 wont start , I warmed it up a few times during the winter its in my garage, lights turn on, but it makes this sound when I try to start it but wont start, any help please?
I purchased mine at the end of last summer I put Maybe a little over a 100 miles on it it is now winter time in Southern Ohio so I'm just waiting on the weather to break so I can get out and ride Mine is a white pcx150 and I Ride it every chance I have owned other Big motorcycles Honda, Yamaha, Harleys I absolutely love riding this little 153 cc scooter I just turned 50 I'm 5 foot 9 at 190 lb It's All about the Fun Scooters are cool!!!!!!
Interesting to see motorcycling culture in other countries. Where I live, traffic is very chaotic and motorcycles are usually very aggressive. There's no way you'd see a motorcyclist standing there waiting for the car ahead of them while there's plenty of room in-between the lanes to go through. We call them the "bike corridor"
Thanks for the review. Off topic but what I find interesting is the amount of standardization in US roadways is pretty nuts to me. I live by a roadway that looks nearly identical to that, with the only differences being that the roads are poorly maintained here and the buildings not on the road.
Dude, 14K views? Guess we ain't the only ones who think the white PCX's are sexy lol. Friggin mine isnt in yet, 65 yesterday too lol. Said by the 19th, cant wait to scoot lol.
1200 miles, had it serviced / check gap clearance, etc. I ride 55mph highways so I avergage 78 MPG. Only couple hills I fail to maintain 52-53 MPH but if I tuck behind the small windshield, I maintain 60! Found that wild. Being I got $400 bonus bucks, I am a happy camper after the Michelins. Ordering a Kurakyan clear lightstrip for the front & 2nd brake light for the rear. I gotta get a better pair of front fork springs, fine under 45 but kill ya at 58.
I bought a 125cc direct bikes scorpion recently for £900 but the mirrors aren't correct. One of them faces a little too high up. And I cant correct it...
5:31 Careful, everybody, we got a bad ass over here. All I see is a warning to shoot him first before he gets any closer in a confrontation. Good review, I always have had my eyes on these things on CL. I seen a couple with the Yuminashi 175cc kit and it makes a marked significant improvement. Well worth it in my book. My current motorcycle it's "magically" getting heavier and heavier with every passing year, the clutch is a constant bother and I feel less and less like tinkering with regular service items. My riding mileage does not justify it's ownership and operating costs, I(a S.Floridian btw) see a less than 300cc zippy scooter in my near future.
At 320 miles I ditched the IRC tires. Greg you must, you must get a set of Michelin city grips. Before anyone buys rear shocks, ditch the cheap tires. So much smoother & grip like glue. Sold tires 8 years, nuttin close to a Michelin.
I've heard these tires come up more than once in the forums, I'm convinced they're the way to go. I really love the micheys on my car. And when i get my scoot, these will be the first upgrade for sure. My car payment is holding me back, but not for much longer
I lived in Vietnam for over a year and had a Honda PCX 150 and it is in awesome motorbike. Mine went 70 miles an hour no problem at all. Used good gas and throw an octane boost in their then you'll get some miles out of it
I'm thinking of upgrading from a toatao 49cc to PCX. does the rain affect the scooter like the switches, any electrical problems? there might be some days that I get caught in the rain going to and coming from work. I park in covered parking at work and I have a scooter cover. and when home I park in the garage
I'm only 5'10" but I sat on a 2015 in the shop and I felt like I wanted to move way back on the seat, but the 2nd tier rise prevented me from doing so. I felt cramped. Is this something you get used to? I realize this was a complaint before they changed the seat (2014??) so I was surprised to find it an issue with the new seat, especially since I have not read any complaints about the new seat. I'm not yet a rider so I'm very inexperienced. Took the rider course but failed.
+Yodaismycopilot The 2013 model had a hump that many people disliked from what I've read. In the USA we didn't get a '14 model and in '15 they got a new seat which seems to be an improvement according to most reviews I've seen. I was able to test ride a '13 and personally I don't have much of a problem with either seat but I haven't been on very long rides so I might feel differently if I had to sit for an hour. If you are gonna be riding long distances I've seen quite a few people on the forum get aftermarket seats that are more flat and don't have the hump or ridge. Did they let you take your course on a scooter? When I did mine a couple guys in my class did it on scooters instead of motorcycles which would be a lot easier I'd think - good luck!
+Gator Greg Thanks for the insights. They had a Ruckus but no one chose to use it. I guess I should have! I can repeat the rider instruction on "stand by" for a limited period of time, from what I understand.
would you recommend this scooter for a high schooler that is also in band that has to take a person home? I really want to get a scooter bc i dont like driving the car and im thinking about getting a scooter
I'm 6'3 and thinking about this for my first bike (as opposed to an R3 because I need space for carrying stuff and make most use of it in a city). Would I have any issues fitting on this bike?
It's great for carrying stuff - couple nights ago I fit 2 gallons of milk and 2 12" sub sandwiches under the seat. You can buy a top box if you need more space but I haven't bothered. I'm 6'2" and fit fine - I did take a used '13 for a test ride though to be sure before I bought my '15 - so I would recommend you find one to test before you commit.
Hi Brian, I am 6'5" and I fit well on my PCX150, although I do have a 2013 model which had a little backrest which was bolted on (right where the hump is on the newer model seats). I unbolted the backrest off and then got the seat reupholstered to cover up the holes (and add more cushion). However, I only have 32" inseams (short legs for such a tall guy) so this might be an issue; if your thighs are long you might hit the bump/backrest. They're good bikes. A lot of folks do complain about the suspension, however, and I agree that they do need better rear shocks since they bottom out easily (unless you weigh very little, I guess). With a rear lock box and a backpack, with the underseat stowage, I can come home with a surprising amount of groceries. These bikes are very handy and are a kind of perfect hybrid motorbike/scooter. They are ideal for inner urban commutes/errands but I don't take mine out on the highway much, it is too nervewracking in general on such a light bike with not much power. Good luck. I hope you find/have found something you like. For the price, I think the PCX is a good buy. I found mine used and saved a lot, too.
Mumpy Gumboo Thanks for all the info man. Sounds like it might need a tighter suspension. Shocks are a pretty easy fix, right? I'll definitely consider that seeing as my city is full of potholes. Most of my height comes from my legs so that might be a bit of a concern but sounds like it's doeable!
Brian Pacheco Well.. .actually, to change the rear shocks on a PCX is quite a chore; you have to take off a few panels first and if you don't do it right you can break off tabs. You might just want to hire an experienced mechanic to do it. Also, shocks, they can be very expensive. You might have to reupholster a seat to be able to slide back comfortably on a PCX. But, I don't know of any bikes, really, that don't have issues for us tall guys. A few re-mods seems likely.
thanks for sharing this video.. what kind of licence do you have to have to ride this motorbike? also what's the mpg and cost for insurance assuming my driving record is super good... thanks.
okay, here's a question. where i live, almost everyone drives a harley or sport bike. id rather not deal with the shifting and stuff. i like the simplicity that the scooter offers. but..its the age old adage that scooters aren't as cool..how does one get over that?
remind the naysayers, the smaller the bike the bigger the pen is. And always carry a really big PEN. On a more servious note, I have both a harley and several scooters. I always say, ride the scoots for me and the harley for everyone else. Smaller bikes are so much more fun. race them on a very twisty road, you will win every time.
+mkksal The PCX 150 looks WAY cooler than the average scooter IMO - especially the '15/'16 with the LED lights. I get MANY compliments on it (more than I got on my old Ninja 300 in fact) and females seem to especially dig it - I think they find it less intimidating and feel more at ease to offer up a compliment - that's my theory and I'm sticking to it LOL
it does look pretty nice. i mentioned the idea to my significant other. I was met with 5 minutes of laughter..she thought i was going to get a vesper or something. due to her lack of support, and quickness to mock, she is no longer welcome on my future scooter.
Nice review. You mention Portugal as a place where one can drive 125cc mc with a licens for cars. In Denmark that is almost true. Only it's not the engine size that matters but the speed. If you limit a bike, any bike, to only 30 mph, you can drive anything with a licens for cars.
Been thinking of getting one of these. I currently ride my bicycle to work, but plan on moving soon. Would be about a 15-20 mile commute to work. Never ridden a scooter before and worry about how these would handle in the rain. The extra challenges, so to speak. Any thoughts, or advice you could give a fellow Floridian?
+seqouiaflame I think the PCX would be perfect for a 15-20 mile commute provided you don't need to get on an interstate highway for more than a mile or two. I try not to ride in the rain but if you plan to do it regularly I would invest in a taller windscreen and better tires - if you go to the forum at hondapcx.org you will see several good threads on this. Also, as you probably already know from riding your bike to work, cagers running late to work pose an extra hazard to two wheel commuters so be very careful and invest in some good high vis gear and maybe some extra lights - I just posted a couple of new vids where I've added some LED white strobes to the front of my PCX.
+Gator Greg Oh yes. I have been hit on the bike before. Just side swiped. No big deal, but killed my old bike. Thanks for the response!! Still thinking on this.
I'm a first time rider and this will be my first bike (picking it up from the dealership this week) and I'll be using it for my daily commute within town. Any suggestions for a first time rider?
Hey Gator. I live in Ontario in Canada. I have a 2015 PCX 150. Somehow mine is a metallic silver/brown color (depending on the light). I thought they were only black and white as well. I love mine.
Yeah I think Canada gets different colors sometimes than the USA - I just saw on the USA site that for 2017 the PCX 150 will be available in blue and white.
I am getting ready to buy a white left over 2015 also. If the price is real I am going tomorrow to get it lol. I emailed them. I am 6-1, 190 and hope I can maintain 55 up say mile long inclines. Any help on that lol. This is gonna be my 2nd bike, have Harley ride maybe 5-6 times a year.
+profaneslave Even with the old 125cc with me and my wife and a combined weight of more than 130kg it could cope with very steep hills at 85-90kmh. This little scooters are better than the engine specs show and they are very capable little machines.
farmoboy83 Yea I have to get a white one, sharp, I don't want that ugly gray or typical Honda red. 1 dealer already bait & switched lol. Read alot of comments like yours, I'll test drive & then buy. 100 MPG rating & 14" wheels sold me.
+profaneslave The grey actually looks very nice in person - would have been my second choice. I was lucky to be able to see all 4 recent colors parked next to each other at my dealer: '15 black, '15 white, '16 grey, and '16 red.
+Gator Greg Ya talked me into it, put $500 down to order a white 2015 (local dealer had sold last white). $3500 out the door after my bonus bucks. Still have my Baby EVO for sale, it goes, I'm quite sure I will have a red Grom too. Hell with being cool, I wanna ride & have fun again. 6-1, 195#, 54 y/o.............dude the Grom is me. Like my old 1969 Honda QA50 lol.
Thanks - I fluctuate between about 195 to 210 depending on how much fast food I've been eating. PCX 150 should have no trouble propelling you down the highway for a one-mile stretch. Check out Ray Ott's PCX vid if you haven't already - he weighs 240 pounds: ua-cam.com/video/hmbIAAE3dLI/v-deo.html
Mine is definitely a 2015 but since it's a USA model we don't get the keyless ignition here (even on the 2017's). We also don't get the idle stop and hazard lights here.
+Gator Greg i wonder why? the smart key is great, the idle stop / instant start, i don't use anyway but it may be useful when encountering lots of traffic lights
Would love to hear more about your reluctance to use the Ninja 300, as I'm still debating between scooter and motorcycle as a first bike. If you had put a large top case on the Ninja do you think might have been inclined to use it more?
+sc1212able Thanks - you will love it! Yeah the traffic around here keeps getting worse and worse - especially with the whole "Ultimate I-4" project going on.
+Gator Greg , Looks like a nice scooter. I used to have a 98 Honda Elite LX, but I ended up giving it to my 3rd oldest brother, but I think it is mainly heading for the recycling yard now, and eventually, I would like to get him something like that or the Bergman, or the Silverwing. He mainly rides it around town of Springdale, but I am thinking that I would like to go on some Arkansas tours with him with me on my 2014 Honda CTX 1300 Deluxe, and either him on a Bergman, Silverwing, or that bike around town. Do you have any multi-weather gear for you that you wear? I wear a Joe Rocket Multi 3 in 1 rain gear. I talk about it in my "My NEW Gear!!!" video on my channel.
+renegadebiker24 No rain gear for me - I always check the forecast in the morning to see if it's scooter weather - LOL. Fortunately we've been blessed with some awesome riding weather lately :)
+Gator Greg Lucky you. It will rain here off and on, or when mother nature can make up her mind from week to week. LOL :-) Last week it had rained on Friday and then it is in the 70s in the morning and lows as much as low 50s and 60s in the evening time this week.
I'm 2 minutes and 30 seconds in and I had to pause the video to let you know that I appreciate your overview and all...but you've gotta get all that heavy breathing under control, man! You're stressing me out, you're making me anxious.
am look at the 2016 kind am in NY state I have just a driver license do i need to get a different one just to take it to work and make a few trios here and their. Please if u can let me know. what i need to do before i go get mine scooter i want the blue one hey 3,400 not bad. Just not sure what my first step is.. i know get the money to get one. and what else do i need to do any one help...
Sorry I don't know about NY but I would assume it's similar to FL where yes you have to get a motorcycle endorsement for your license to ride around on the PCX. To do that in FL it's a bit of a PITA cuz you need to set aside two days to take a "Basic Rider Course" from a DMV approved company ($$$) where you have to pass both a written and riding test. They transmit the results to DMV and after you pay the DMV their fee ($$) they print "motorcycle also" at the bottom of your driver's license and then you're good to go. I'm sure if you go to the NY DMV website they'll have it explained for you. Good luck!
about how much would you think will cost me. I was thinking were am getting it maybe see if they have a class i can take, is this what i want to look at Apply for a New York Motorcycle License or Endorsement . First going to go look at the bike and see how much and ask then if they have classes and see were i go. . was think how much i need you think around. all i know i want one always did
I just bought a new 2018 Yamaha SMAX, the PCX's primary competitor in the USA. See my detailed review where I compare the SMAX to my old 2015 PCX 150 here: ua-cam.com/video/UqeUL8SbCe0/v-deo.html
I traded in the PCX150 for a VFR800. I'm thinking about getting the new 2019 PCX150 w/ABS to go with my VFR - I miss the utility and convenience of the PCX.
+apple tyler In Florida the PCX 125/150 is registered as a motorcycle and you need a motorcycle endorsement on your driver license to ride it here. I'm not sure but it's probably the same in most if not all the USA. The line between "scooter" and "motorcycle" seems very blurry these days and it seems like "scooter" is more of a marketing term than a legal term.
LOL - the PCX is a scooter not an assault rifle. It's got a CVT, so it's twist and go. There's no clutch or gear shifter so I would consider It full auto.
Gator Greg LOL ok that did sound like i was talking about guns haha but that's good to know. im currently using the vision 125 for work however i haven't got a bike myself and ill most likely be going on dual carriageways so a slightly bigger bike will be nice for safety.
Hi Greg, great video. The video is extremely quiet. How did you reduce the wind noise in your video using the GoPro? Are you wearing an external mic, or what?
Nice review - but I wish there were more static views of the entire bike complimented by close-ups without the camera twisting and bouncing all about (like you have to take a whiz)... ;-) Thx
I'm thinking about getting either this scooter or the Yamaha SMAX. You chose this scooter over the Yamaha knowing that the Yamaha is a better highway performer. What drew you to this one? I like the looks, price, lower weight and higher fuel efficiency of the PCX, but the SMAX has more power so it's a tough choice.
+Samuel Frade SMAX would definitely be better if you plan to regularly ride on highways because of its higher top speed but you can get away with the PCX on the highway in a pinch - this video was the only time I rode on the highway and it was just fine cruising in the slow lane - but I only plan to use my PCX for suburban riding where it really shines. If you have a car for highways than the PCX makes a great 2nd vehicle. Things I preferred PCX over SMAX were comfort, LED lights, color (dealer only had the goldish color SMAX) and fact that it's a Honda - I'm a bit of a Honda fanboy having owned 6 Honda/Acuras over the years that have all been great - even my lawnmower is a Honda - LOL. So having the Honda name on the PCX is reassuring to me :) Good luck in your choice!
Nice scoot... thanks for the review. How is it now that you've had it a while? Also, I'm glad to talk about gloves, helmet and jacket, but then I notice you're wearing shorts!?!?!? Bad move... I wear full riding pants even when it's 100°. And Florida drivers are notoriously bad.
+Biomed Man Thanks - I'm still really enjoying it! I took it to the grocery store yesterday and ended up just cruising around for about 45 min on the way home - fortunately I had nothing frozen LOL. Yeah I know shorts are a real bad move :(
was pretty nuts to randomly watch this video and you drive right past where i live lol in altamonte. if you ride regularly we have a group in the cfl area. hit me up sometime, ive got a Burgman 400 myself
Hey profane, hmmm...maintaining 55 up a long incline might be pushing it - I think it depends on just how steep the incline is. I want to say the PCX could do it but there are no hills where I live so I can't really say for sure. I can say that you will want to ride the PCX more than the 5-6 times per year for your Harley. I find myself coming up with errands to run so I'll have an excuse to ride the PCX :D
hey greg, two questions... i am really looking into this bike, ive already test driven it, thinking of getting the silver 2016. My questions are, can you put or do they make wider tires for the front and back on the pcx? i have a little modded 100cc taotao zummer that has tires that look like they belong on a Grom, ive gotten used to them gripping the road, especially when it rains (im from miami florida, so you know that's quite often) i have know quite a few people that have the bike slip out in the middle of a turn. My other question... is do you have to be careful when putting a louder exhaust on the pcx for sake of loosing gas mileage or damaging the bike ? its so wonderfully quiet it scares me that no one can hear me. thanks
I don't have personal experience with those mods on my PCX but if you search the forum at HondaPCX.org there are lots of threads that talk about aftermarket exhaust and a few threads talking about wider tires.
Yes - I remember seeing a vlog by CagerOnTwoWheels where he said the PCX is the most popular vehicle in Portugal for example and I think its very popular in the rest of Europe as well. However, the PCX and scooters in general aren't that popular in the USA. The HondaPCX.org forum has quite a few members from English speaking countries and many other countries as well.
+Huey H March Oh yeah the PCX 150 can handle that - only thing I'd say is it's so light that you will be susceptible to cross winds at those speeds compared to a bigger/heavier bike.
Well Greg, sold my Hog last month, rode it 7000 miles since 3/2009 lol. Had PCX 8 months & I got 3100 miles on it lol, love it. How about you, where you at on mileage? I took 3rd cousin a ride, she's 105#, I am 190#, PCX still kept 55 up some HWY hills, kinda amazed at this little gem. I am averaging 86MPG but I keep it pegged.
Damn, you're riding that thing hard! I haven't even hit 2k miles yet. But you're right the PCX is awesome - very enjoyable to run errands with it or just putz around on - the mpg is so good I don't even keep track of it anymore.
anybody else scraping the belly/lower side fairings whilst cornering xD I think I need a motorbike lol, also done 3000k miles in 7 months of owning the pcx :3 My only requests for it would be better ground clearance and cut outs in the floor boards, whilst there at it a decent supplier for parts would be nice, have some difficulty's finding bits for it where I live
+Joe Quattrocchi Thanks - glad you like!
Good luck!
+Gator Greg thanks Greg! Can't wait for the next PCX video!
I have a 2015 pcx 150, I ride it on the freeway/highway. I stay in the slow lane, and cruse between 55 and 60 mph. It's very stable.
+staninjapan07
Yeah the PCX 150 looks great - I still get lots of compliments on it. It will nicely compliment your V-Strom.
About 60 to 65 is the best you can get with the 125 but it will cruise at 50 -55 all day and return at that speed 110 to 120mpg ( imperial )
Many are used as scenery tourers where the journeys views are more important than carving the corners or the time of arrival.
Each type of riding has merit.
Stay safe guys happy riding.
Bought a 2016 pcx 150 last week! This scooter is so much fun 😀
How is it?
+CKPHH
I've been riding it alot, put 800 miles on it already. Perfect for everyday city commuting.
Holy shit - this vid has almost half a million views 😂
Buying one in two weeks. Going to commute to and from work with this scooter.
Very nice. I just purchased a Wolf V 150. Honda and Yamaha make the best quality scooters on the market in my opinion.
I'm planning to get my self one of these real soon if not then a Yamaha vity 125. Here in London traffic is a nightmare and, I'm spending way too much on public transport.
Enjoyed your review. The PCX 150 is an impressive scoot. I adored my 2010 Honda Sh150i; fun, practical ride.
Great review man! Can’t wait to pick up mine soon.
+Alex Moore
Thanks - hopefully I don't have a radio face to go with it LOL. That's great that you got a discount on the '15 - I'm interested to see what Honda decides to do for '17.
Really solid review. Is there a refresh coming in 17'?
Alex, be interested in how your two scoots compare w one another...
I've had mine from 13th jan 2016 it's my first bike and i love just rode from London to south coast...no complaints
+will “Billy” H
Wish I could ride around London on my PCX - that would be awesome. May have to visit and see if I can rent a scooter for a few days.
Yes, a new one goes for about 3600
My 2018 low mileage Honda PCX 150 wont start , I warmed it up a few times during the winter its in my garage, lights turn on, but it makes this sound when I try to start it but wont start, any help please?
Very cool videos, Please keep adding more .
Thank You!!!
is this bike really this quiet? or is the video just not picking up much noise from the engine? I know Honda's are very good, but this is remarkable.
I purchased mine at the end of last summer I put Maybe a little over a 100 miles on it it is now winter time in Southern Ohio so I'm just waiting on the weather to break so I can get out and ride Mine is a white pcx150 and I Ride it every chance I have owned other Big motorcycles Honda, Yamaha, Harleys I absolutely love riding this little 153 cc scooter I just turned 50 I'm 5 foot 9 at 190 lb
It's All about the Fun
Scooters are cool!!!!!!
Here in California, it's legal to ride in between cars, or what we call splitting lanes.
The only state in the U.S. that it's legal.
In NSW (Australia ) it's totally legal and called feathering
Thanks for the review. Off topic but what I find interesting is the amount of standardization in US roadways is pretty nuts to me. I live by a roadway that looks nearly identical to that, with the only differences being that the roads are poorly maintained here and the buildings not on the road.
Dude, 14K views? Guess we ain't the only ones who think the white PCX's are sexy lol. Friggin mine isnt in yet, 65 yesterday too lol. Said by the 19th, cant wait to scoot lol.
+LightWorker61
Over 91K views now!
Gator Greg 300k now
1200 miles, had it serviced / check gap clearance, etc.
Wich would you choose between Pcx 150 and Piaggio liberty S 150 ?
Did you say the seat is or isn't comfy?
With daily ride on the motorway, there will be a need to change piston after 24 months surely?
This model can take big tires?
I need to buy it how much is it and how can I order it
At 320 miles I ditched the IRC tires.
Used good gas and throw an octane boost in their then you'll get some miles out of it
Once you start riding scooters, the sports bikes start feeling like a chore
How is the difference in performance between 125 vs 150cc?
So was it 65 mph it s highest speed? I wonder if one can put a Vance and Hines set of pipes.
How good is the wind deflector on this thing?? and what about ride quality over long hauls?? and how's the power delivery on this thing??
Gator Greg Thanks for the advice man. That sounds great. Sounds like it would be useful for some light groceries then.
Brian Pacheco
Well.. .actually, to change the rear shocks on a PCX is quite a chore; you have to take off a few panels first and if you don't do it right you can break off tabs.
Hey I️ live in Apopka right off of 436, where did you get this scoot from? I️ really want to go somewhere locally.
The Honda dealer in Eustis, not that far up the road from you.
Nice gator Greg!! I’m getting another scooter here for around town errands like to the bank👍🏻 I live in winter park/ Altamonte area
thanks for sharing this video.. what kind of licence do you have to have to ride this motorbike? also what's the mpg and cost for insurance assuming my driving record is super good... thanks.
okay, here's a question. where i live, almost everyone drives a harley or sport bike. id rather not deal with the shifting and stuff. i like the simplicity that the scooter offers. but..its the age old adage that scooters aren't as cool..how does one get over that?
remind the naysayers, the smaller the bike the bigger the pen is. And always carry a really big PEN. On a more servious note, I have both a harley and several scooters. I always say, ride the scoots for me and the harley for everyone else. Smaller bikes are so much more fun. race them on a very twisty road, you will win every time.
+mkksal
The PCX 150 looks WAY cooler than the average scooter IMO - especially the '15/'16 with the LED lights.
If you limit a bike, any bike, to only 30 mph, you can drive anything with a licens for cars.
congrats on your new bike 😁
Yeah I think Canada gets different colors sometimes than the USA - I just saw on the USA site that for 2017 the PCX 150 will be available in blue and white.
i know this videos old, but could you give us a review of riding in the rain on this bike? or your thoughts on riding in the reason in general?
did brake handle collapse to the hand grip on start up?
I am getting ready to buy a white left over 2015 also. If the price is real I am going tomorrow to get it lol. I emailed them. I am 6-1, 190 and hope I can maintain 55 up say mile long inclines. Any help on that lol. This is gonna be my 2nd bike, have Harley ride maybe 5-6 times a year.
+profaneslave Even with the old 125cc with me and my wife and a combined weight of more than 130kg it could cope with very steep hills at 85-90kmh. This little scooters are better than the engine specs show and they are very capable little machines.
farmoboy83
Yea I have to get a white one, sharp, I don't want that ugly gray or typical Honda red.
+profaneslave You will love it - congrats!
can it do wheelies like the grom?
Great video.
How much do you weigh? I'm 230 and worried that it wouldn't survive on a one-mile stretch of highway on the route to work.
Would a150 cc be a great scooter for a beginner?
Jerome Cabral Any scooter is pretty good for beginners, although some would be a bit much you would struggle to find them anyway.
If I was ever to get one I'd start with a 50cc just to get used to riding them. Most places you have to pass a driving test for those faster scooters.
hey greg my 2015 pcx 150 has keyless ignition. This is a 2013 model
Mine is definitely a 2015 but since it's a USA model we don't get the keyless ignition here (even on the 2017's). We also don't get the idle stop and hazard lights here.
+Gator Greg i wonder why? the smart key is great, the idle stop / instant start, i don't use anyway but it may be useful when encountering lots of traffic lights
is it good for long ride about 300 km ? n what about gazoline ?
Would love to hear more about your reluctance to use the Ninja 300, as I'm still debating between scooter and motorcycle as a first bike. If you had put a large top case on the Ninja do you think might have been inclined to use it more?
Considering getting this soon. Have one question tho how will it do on roads with a 50-55 mph speed limit?
Is lane splitting illegal in your area?
Nice video, great review, plan on buying one in Feb. 2016, BTW, grewup in Longwood, we moved, got to crowed
+sc1212able Thanks - you will love it! Yeah the traffic around here keeps getting worse and worse - especially with the whole "Ultimate I-4" project going on.
Thanks. This definitely helped me decide what kind of scooter to get.
+Ian Overton
Thanks - glad it helped!

No rain gear for me - I always check the forecast in the morning to see if it's scooter weather - LOL.
Which helmet, go pro and mic are you using ?
I'm 2 minutes and 30 seconds in and I had to pause the video to let you know that I appreciate your overview and all...but you've gotta get all that heavy breathing under control, man! You're stressing me out, you're making me anxious.
i want this pcx 150cc sir vhow to purchase siz give me help
am look at the 2016 kind am in NY state I have just a driver license do i need to get a different one just to take it to work and make a few trios here and their.
Are you glad you have that instead of the ninja?
I traded in the PCX150 for a VFR800. I'm thinking about getting the new 2019 PCX150 w/ABS to go with my VFR - I miss the utility and convenience of the PCX.
Where did you purchase your scooter from? +Gator Greg
Do you need a motorcycle license for this 150 or is this technically a scooter?
+apple tyler In Florida the PCX 125/150 is registered as a motorcycle and you need a motorcycle endorsement on your driver license to ride it here. I'm not sure but it's probably the same in most if not all the USA. The line between "scooter" and "motorcycle" seems very blurry these days and it seems like "scooter" is more of a marketing term than a legal term.
+Gator Greg ok thanks
are the pcx range semi auto or full auto
Thanks - yes the mic is wired from GoPro into the helmet.
What city u were in the video? Nice place...
I live in Brazil.....
Bruna Vieira que inglês bosta.
Nice review - but I wish there were more static views of the entire bike complimented by close-ups without the camera twisting and bouncing all about (like you have to take a whiz)... ;-) Thx
I think I have another 7 or 8 vids in my PCX playlist so perhaps one of the others will be more to your liking - LOL
So having the Honda name on the PCX is reassuring to me :) Good luck in your choice!
do you still have this?
Should you really be revving up that high on a motor that isn't broken in?
Nice scoot... thanks for the review. How is it now that you've had it a while? Also, I'm glad to talk about gloves, helmet and jacket, but then I notice you're wearing shorts!?!?!? Bad move... I wear full riding pants even when it's 100°. And Florida drivers are notoriously bad.
+Biomed Man
Thanks - I'm still really enjoying it! I took it to the grocery store yesterday and ended up just cruising around for about 45 min on the way home - fortunately I had nothing frozen LOL. Yeah I know shorts are a real bad move :(
what maximum you can reach?
Got one, absolute luv it ;-)
You think a 5ft 2 person on there or 5ft4
was pretty nuts to randomly watch this video and you drive right past where i live lol in altamonte. if you ride regularly we have a group in the cfl area. hit me up sometime, ive got a Burgman 400 myself
P.S. the I4-Eye sore is what gave it away hahaha
Is pcx popular outside Japan?
Yes - I remember seeing a vlog by CagerOnTwoWheels where he said the PCX is the most popular vehicle in Portugal for example and I think its very popular in the rest of Europe as well. However, the PCX and scooters in general aren't that popular in the USA. The HondaPCX.org forum has quite a few members from English speaking countries and many other countries as well.
so, do you like it?
Yes - only thing I wish it had is abs - then it would be perfect IMO.
I have a 2013 model. I love it a lot.
Great video, Greg. Would this scooter be comfortable to ride at 50-55mph for at least 15 miles? I am interested in a PCX for commuting.
+Huey H March
Oh yeah the PCX 150 can handle that - only thing I'd say is it's so light that you will be susceptible to cross winds at those speeds compared to a bigger/heavier bike.
Now stretch it, recline it, put Vetter level aero on it, make the gears taller. Get all the MPGs. All of them.
How are you recording the video it's nice and clear also voice is clear
Thanks - I used a GoPro 3+ mounted on chin bar recording in 1080p60 with external mic adaptor and a lapel mic routed into the helmet.
I'm sold. Gonna go get a 2016 tomorrow.
+Dave Stone
You should wait for the just announced 2017 PCX 200.
+Gator Greg
Happy belated April Fool's Day - sorry - I couldn't resist - LOL.
Tell us about your safety shorts.
+Sean Finkel
They are the latest creation from A*, LOL. I still can't believe I went on the Interstate in shorts - very stupid move I know :(
Pro Tip: You only need your gear on the day that you wreck.
Thumbs Up for Portugal
nice pcx honda but india me kab aayega
