    I've looked at a bunch of scooter videos to help my wife learn how to ride and yours is the best of them! Nice job, especially with "look where you want to go" and throttle control.

      I got my scooter yesterday, i practiced for about half an hour and im comftrable riding it now.The only problem is that my growth spurt hasn't really started yet, so im shorter than my friends.Because im short it makes my ability to move the scooter around when its not turned on much harder.Man this thing is heavy!

      +Lavi Nia Sorry I forgot signals. You just push the lever to either side to activate. Then push it in to cancel. And to reverse, just practice walking backwards. lol. But really, just make sure your feet are on a stable surface because you'll be transferring weight side to side.

      First off...great video and great scooter too. I also like that you wore protective gear and were very organized in your presentation.
      One question that I have when it comes to backing up the scooter is this: it might depend on the particular situation, but do you do it with the motor on or the motor off? I've actually seen different opinions. There might not be one right answer, but how do you do it? (For example, I saw someone with a lot of UA-cam instruction videos for beginners who said he prefers to back his bike (motorcycle) into a parking space so when he leaves he can more safely pull forward and not have to worry about backing into any cars. But on his motorcycle he has a neutral gear when he backs in; on a scooter there's really no neutral gear. So that's why I'm asking. Because in the process of pulling back on the handlebar you might accidentally pull back on the throttle and that wouldn't be so great.)

    • @bench175
      @bench175  8 років тому +7

      ***** I usually ride front-first into a space and back up with the motor on so it can warm up a bit. I don't think I've ever accidentally given throttle when backing up. There should be a little play in the throttle that will help prevent that, but overall it's not likely bc you're pulling straight back on the handle, not rotating it.

      Fuego just take it easy on the turns. the rest is pretty basic, like riding a bicycle. on rush orders tho, just practice leaning instead of turning the handle bars when making "safe" turns. Good luck out there!!

    Good tutorial. When teaching people or letting them ride my scoots, if they are a noob, I always reinforce, maybe three of four times where the brakes are. The first time I rode a motorcycle (with clutch, etc.), I wasn't told where the brake was and ended up crashing into a fence...whisky throttled it when I started panicking. Lol! Always know where the brakes are!

It can reach max 45km/h, but now I'm happy I get it delivered at my house, and I don't have to drive it directly in the traffic from the dealer to my place. I'll definitely practice first at the supermarket that's 500m from my home 🙂

    Great videos! I am approaching my 70th BD and have decided to downsize a bit. I've owned over 25 motorcycles including many Yamaha's. I love Yamaha for their quality and fit and finish. After several hundred thousand miles moving to a Majesty should be pure fun! I'm currently riding a 2012 Harley Dyna Switchback and Its getting a bit heavy and bulky so I traded it to my local Yamaha dealer for a 2014 Majesty 400. I'm planning on fitting a Shad SH39 Top Case, a taller Cee Bailey W/S, a 12V outlet in the glovebox and under the rear seat. I might throw on a pair of Pirelli Diablo tires as well. I don't know much about brands since I've only had one jacket, but it should at least have armor in the elbows and shoulders and padding along the back. It gets hot here so my jacket is mesh with a removable waterproof lining. If you ride at night, look for reflective piping/strips. My jacket is a discontinued Tourmaster Intake jacket.

    Haha, I'm glad you have instructions for those of us who are short. I'm 5'2" and my tip toes barely reach the ground in regular sitting position like you are. So what I would do is, when needing to push, sit on the seat like you're standing over a bicycle seat, that is legs on either side pointing straight down to the ground rather than bent forward in a siting position. Doing that gave me enough contact with the ground to have some traction.

    Thank you for this!! I’m thinking about getting a scooter cuz it’s gonna take me years to save up for a car license and a car and I think this would help me getting more out!!
    But I’m very nervous about it! This made me feel more safe and comfortable about the thought :)

    How long do I have to practice until I don't have to think about counter steering to do it? What is the start position for your hand on the throttle? How do you maintain the throttle when you are pulling it toward you or pushing it away when you turn? That isn't a situation on a bike where the throttle is your legs.

    • @bench175
      @bench175  2 роки тому

      Counter steering is natural if you can ride a bike. Start position like if you're riding a bike. Maintain by holding your hand in the same position.

    Teaching my sister lmao I told her specifically to go lightly on the throttle don't pull too much she has only rode on those scooters for girls because that was what her friend had and this was a bit heavy and I only let her turn on the scooter after she did a turn, u turn and showed me how to place hands and where the side stand is, we don't have that many parking lots in my small town so they just built a new road which was perfect because there are not that many proper roads here as soon as I turned on the engine for her I told her to press the brakes and lightly pulled to show her how lightly she has to pull it and she did it !

    I've only tried one jacket, Tour Master Intake, that my sister got me two years ago so I don't know much about brands. However, I really like my jacket because I can wear it year-round. It is mesh so I can use it in the summer, but it's big enough to use a jacket underneath in the winter. It's also about half white with reflective piping so I can be seen at night.

    In regard to taking a scooter or a motorcycle off the center stand, I've always found the easiest and safest way was to get on the bike, then stand astride it with both feet on the ground and both hands on the handlebars, then gently push it forward. As it comes off the stand, you have the bike controlled just as if you were stopped in traffic. There's more chance of it overbalancing away from you, if simply standing by it's side and pushing it, primarily because you're more aware of it's dead weight, and just a few degrees list away, and it's going to go down. My first bike was a 1959 Triumph Bonneville, and I could even pull that back onto it's center stand whilst still astride it...

    Another tip: When you’re turning either left or right, try to slow down and focus on your position so that you don’t fall.

  • @Lazerus53
    @Lazerus53 4 роки тому

    countersteer is to slightly turn the bike opposite of the turn direction (slightly) to pitch the bike the direction of the turn then turn that direction. It really helps in turns, it put the bike in a leaning position.

    7:00 what? R u sure u said that correctly?
    Weird. Push right and go right? Never driven a scooter myself, but I think it doesn't make sense. And are u sure u r not pulling there (though one should not pull when driving)? I mean, if u push the right side forward, (I think) it should turn left (hence that is why it is called "counter stearing"!? 6:50) , or am I missing something? It seems that I am, because you do show what u claim. Note: what he says is probably correct: push on the right and it goes right, push on the left and it turns left. But it's really weird.

    But I'm still confused and uncertain how it works though. It does not make sense.
