Another great video! This one of the very first things I added to my 2018 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins. I plug it in every night all year long. Just means I don’t burn fuel to warm the engine before driving. I know most people are not concerned with warming up their Diesel engine before driving nor do they idle their truck for a couple minutes to cool down their turbo before shutting it down. Both of these practices will extend the life of the engine and turbo. I can only assume that these people buy a new truck every 2-3 years and don’t care. I plan to keep mine and I have done several modifications and improvements to make sure it will last.
Better hide that plug when you're in Florida. Folks will think that your truck is electric! A little dielectric grease on the pins will prevent corrosion. You must have spent part of your years in the north. Careful with the cord near hot surfaces like your exhaust. Great job for the father/son team!
I actually grew up in Florida, but spent the early spring in South Dakota last year also. A few days approaching single digits, the truck started...but didn’t seem happy about it. It has been much better with the block heater so far! Thanks for watching!
Perfect video! Ended up buying my 2018 3500 in FL in March ‘22 but ended up in IN. Now amidst this polar / arctic blast, I realize I don’t have the cord either. Glad to see that there should be the block heater already there though. Will be getting the BMI cord before the next arctic blast for sure. Thanks again! I’ll see if I can get my minions to help with the install! 🤘🏼❤️
I was glad to find out the heater was already installed as well…they couldn’t spring for the actual cord to hook it up though, lol. Not a hard job, good luck!
Thanks for video. I ordered the same cord and your instructions were easier follow than others. I did remove the air box though and it made it much easier for sure.
Nice add on. I was disappointed when I realized our truck did not come equipped with a block heater. I learned later depending on what part of the country the trucks are shipped to decides with or without heater. We have a 2019 F350. I need to research and see if we can add one to ours. Thanks for sharing this. Paul & Magen
Bless your son, I don't have any kids but seeing any mid with tourettes,(if correct, of im not, I apologize) or anything is sad. Good luck brother(father) and I you have a great son just by seeing the video. I'm sorry if I said anything wrong
Thank you, it’s not Tourette’s but I can see how you might think that. He has other special needs but is doing remarkably well! Thank you for the kind words and thanks for watching!
The installation trough the wheel well was painless enough once I took of my wheel to be able to get close enough with my not so thin body to reach the connector a bit better.
Plug cover will keep it clean, it is not absolutely needed. Old plugs tarnished still connect ok. I think the power use is about 430 watts which is 4 amps.
Nice video. I just purchased a 2022 3500 DRW Limited and it didn't come with the cord. What do you want for a sticker price of $102K! I ordered mine from Geno's at half the cost of Mopar.
I’ve bought the Banks kit from Sinister Diesel, grid heater eliminator, higher flow intake elbow, and an immersion heater. I’m not hot rodding my 2012 Ram 3500, but figuring that more air into the engine means less throttle for the same power output.
I got the Mopar cord for Christmas. Yay me. My wife overpaid for a cord I have to install out in the cold today. Favorite gift of 2022. LOL.
It’s the thought that counts right?? Lol. Well worth the effort when your truck fires up with ease when it’s below freezing!
Great video, just the info I was looking for.
You’re welcome, thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video! I was able to install mine in about 5 minutes. I really didn't want to remove air box.
You’re welcome! Glad the video was helpful and thank you for watching!

Well said! Very happy I did this before heading to South Dakota, quite a difference when it’s time to crank it up in the cold!

Great stuff Men!!!! I've been thinking about doing this, just didn't want to pull the air duct like you! Thanks so much!!!
You’re welcome, it’s doable through the wheel well…just gotta have some patience with it.
Awesome! Thanks I have been dreading removing the engine block and the transmission.
Whoa! That would be quite a task! Thanks for watching

You’re welcome! Looking back, I would probably remove the air box as well. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video!!! This is my project for Christmas eve
You’re welcome, one of the best additions I’ve made to the truck!
Thanks for the great informative video. Now I know what I'm looking for and how to install it.
Glad it was helpful and thanks for watching!
Great instructional video. Thank you.
You’re welcome!
Thank you! Great video. You two are great mechanics.
Thank you for watching!
Thank you, guys!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Appreciate the walk through!
It’s a lot easier than I thought it would be and REALLY came in handy in South Dakota in March! Thanks for watching!

Taking the tire off would definitely make the installation easier. Thanks for sharing this and thank you for watching!

Great info, thanks for sharing!
Need this too my 17’ tradesmen didn’t come with one since I bought it down here in TX it’s didn’t come equipped with one.
I don’t use it very often, but it’s definitely nice to have on those incredibly cold mornings! Thanks for watching!
The only thing I can add is if your truck is 2wd, pull the passenger side front tire off to ease access to the block heater.
Good info, thanks for sharing!
Great video. I just installed mine I removed the air box . But mine cord is against the oil fliter is that going to be a problem?
The only issue you might run into is the cord being in the way when trying to remove and install the oil filter.

Great video, question how long do I need to have it plugged in for
Before I start let's say at around 40 deg morning? Or is this a overnight thing.
It’s a very low watt output so I just plug it in the night before and let it ride. Thanks for watching!
all night
Do you have the link to the chord you got from amazon?
The link to the cord is in the video description. Thanks for watching!
people need to know about the grid heater bolt that is destroying engines, delete the grid heater! there is videos of this on you tube
I’ll check it out! Thanks for watching!
