Welcome to the Toolverse! I've been into them for only a couple years, but it's honestly been life changing, as much as music can be. So much amazing musicianship and also such deep meaning to the songs.
I’m up to 24 Tool shows now, going all the way back to ‘93 at some pub in LA. Going to see number 25 in January, they get better every time! The best show so far is a toss up between the show at The Gorge in Washington and the Fear Innoculum show at the Coyotes Arena in Phoenix, AZ. The sound at that show was the best I’ve ever heard! 24 shows later and they still melt my face every time!
My favorite in the last album, those guitar solos are gargantuan. Some of Adam's best work. And the lyrics are a wonderful call to mobilize to save ourselves and the planet, making it some of Maynard's most profound writing.
This(Fear Inoculum) is my favorite Tool album...10000 days is close, but with songs like this and Pneuma i was convinced :) The entire Fear Inoculum album is fantastic ✌💚
And that's why all of us are here! I don't expect to enjoy everything l hear but I'm prepared to listen with an open mind. I have bought Lynyrd Skynyrd, Yes & Janis Joplin CDs in the last few weeks as a result of Jamel's reactions.
This has become one of my favorite albums and I've been a TOOL fan since the 90's. I can't get enough of listening to it. Goosebumps. Every. Time. Every Song.
I saw these guys in February of last year at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Australia. Maynard had covid-19 and didn't even realise it. Still gave an amazing performance. It was also the first time 7empest was ever played live. So freaking awestruck. 😁✌
I'm glad that part of "stay the grand finale, stay the reading of our swan song and epilogue" speaks to you too. Anyone else feel like it's a farewell and thank you song?
@@xXPyrophorusXx I don't think he is using a different guitar, just a glass or metal finger slide on his guitar. I could be mistaken but it certainly sounds like a slide.
@@moetop He uses a steel slide. At least that's what he uses when he plays it live. He whipped it off his finger at the end of the slide portion of the solo when I saw them live.
This song is a message to all mankind. We need to all work together to be better, to stop the descent into madness and self destruction. I hope we can all come together and find peace with each other before things go too far. All it takes is small acts of kindness and respect towards each other whenever the opportunity presents itself, it doesn't have to be huge things. Just do something to make things better for someone else in any way, no matter how small. This song live is an incredible listen as well. The sound of the guitar and Maynard's vocals together is very haunting to hear. The gong hit into guitar solo toward the end is particularly moving.

The first time I heard this song I was having trouble with my marriage and I took the context of the lyrics to be about a relationship that was "decending". I know the popular belief is that its about what we are doing to ourselves and the earth but music is so subjective I'll always take the meaning of this song as a failing relationship. Beautiful.

Paul Cooper underrated? are you kidding? He’s already considered (and has been for awhile) one of the GOATs by the entire rock drumming community. He’s been on the cover of every drum magazine multiple times across 3 different decades and won countless awards and polls in all of them as voted by readers, his peers, and industry people. To say he is underrated is not an accurate statement. He’s consistently rated as one of the best currently and of all time.
You are by far my favorite music reaction/listener. I grew up with Pink Floyd, Hendrix, Skynyrd and Rush. I found Tool in 1996.One of my 1st concerts was Rush 2112 tour and latest Tool show was 2020 ATL. Great music and diversity on common ground. Keep up the good work J.

Hope you can experience a Tool show my man. Keep em coming. Blessings your way. BTW, ever think of doing some reggae reactions? With the recent passing of dear brother Bunny Wailer (he's now joined Bob and Peter in the beyond), it's seems fitting. 'Rule this Land' is one of my favorites. I got to see him twice live and just...Wow...
This song to me is about a call to arms through our collective consciousness to the primal "body" of all of humanity to rise up now and act before it's too late. Not just to rise up off our couches and do something but to rise, ascend in our vibration/energy/spirit; for us to change now and ascend to the next density as our world shifts consciousness and shifts its actual position in the galaxy to one of higher electrical energy; the shifting between the age of Pisces and age of Aquarius. The saying goes "we are on this rock flying through space", or floating even. But floating isn't infinite as the movement of our planet is caused by gravity and electrical fields. The gravity of our sun, nearby planets, and each other star on to the center of our galaxy is pulling us as we fall through this space. Falling isn't flying, we will not float forever. If we want to fly and reach the infinite consciousness then we must wake from this slumber, wake from this lower vibrational matrix this world has us in and rise to stay alive, lest this be our swan song and epilogue. This reflects on not only the cosmic transition our planet is going through now, but the associated vibrational and spiritual change, to the current socio and political climate changing as globalism/communism/luciferianism tries to take over and the world's collective consciousness is beginning to push back and not consent! We may just be in earth's and humanities swan song, "to be or not to be". Will we rise, or descend?
