I can't argue with that. They are Pink Floyd level with Rush, Zeppelin for me. I have Pantera, Jinjer & Sleep Token close to that level personally and there's a few others, Skynyrd, AC/DC, VH, ZZ Top. So many great bands over the years. Not much is better than some Joe Bonamassa & Beth Hart or Linda Ronstadt. Jimi Hendrix & SRV are up there at the top.

In terms of mix and production this is one of the best Tool has ever released. This sounds so clear but still powerfull, the panoramic mixing is amazing. Also Danny's drumming on this is just next level, especially in the long instrumental part. The way he moves the feel and accentuation is just mindblowing. "Descending" lyrics
    ↔️
    Free fall through our midnight
This epilogue of our own fable
    Heedless in our slumber
Floating nescient we free fall through this boundlessness
This madness of our own making
    Falling isn't flying
    Floating isn't infinite
    Come our end suddenly
    All hail our lethargy
    Concede suddenly
    To the quickened
    Dissolution pray
    We mitigate the ruin
Calling all to arms and order
    Drifting through this boundlessness
This madness of our own making
    Sound our dire reveille
    Rouse all from our apathy
    Lest we cease to be
    Stir us from our
    Wanton slumber
    Mitigate our ruin
Call us all to arms and order
Sound the dread alarm through the primal body
    Sound the reveille
To be or not to be
    Rise
    Stay the grand finale
    Stay the reading of our
    Swan song and epilogue
    One drive to stay alive
    Elementary. Muster every fiber
    Mobilize
    Stay alive
    Stir us from our
    Wanton slumber
    Mitigate our ruin
Call us all to arms and order

Thank you for showing so much appreciation for Adam Jones on this song. I sometimes feel like he's sort of the unsung hero of so many tool songs, and I think this song in particular is his absolute best work to date. Being in a band with 3 other musical geniuses can make it easy to get overshadowed. I know Adam Jones isn't one of the greatest guitar players ever, but he gives each song exactly what it needs. He's so creative and has such a specific sound you know immediately it's a tool song even if you've never heard it before the second you hear Adam. I also found your goku/vegeta analogy particularly funny. Great video, keep it up! 🤘

I just want to throw this out there. this song feels like the story of life on earth & a waning of humanity's end.
It begins as howling winds then seas, then rising from the sea to step on to land.
Life begins simple and gives rise a complexity.
    Then humans create our story.
Or story could be one of inaction in the face of slow destruction. With out the call to order wake us from our apathy & "wanton slumber."
Then the final fight for our survival ending with a return to the water.
There is no correct way to hear & experience reality so take as you will.

I started chuckling when I heard you say, "Fire, fire solo!" I'm over here thinking, oh man, you're just about to get into the REALLY good stuff!

The beginning of the song sounds like you are floating in the water and relaxing, no worries and no care. Not paying attention to all the things happening around you. You cant see the storm coming. Then you are in the middle of the storm and you have to fight to survive. But you made the situation by not paying attention.
On a deeper level, this references the fall of great civilizations. Currently we are watching the fall of America, and America's control over world reserve currency. The passing of power and the conflict that will happen during the transition.

Any other band would be lucky to have one member of TOOL, and TOOL has all 4. It’s almost not fair. The pinnacle of musical creation.

The moment at 18:00 when you makes that stink face, Danny hits a gong in the live shows, and it’s SO POWERFUL, it just bowls you over. 🥹😍

When I was a kid I was playing at a beach somewhere near Jacksonville or St Augustine. A wave hit me too hard, and I got pulled out and under way too fast. The beginning of this song reminds me of what that sounded like

The journey is real mate 🤘🤘
Suggest Pushit (studio version) then the live (Salival version), similar to what you did with Pneuma 🙏

So glad you did this one man. Descending and Lateralus are my top 2 Tool songs. When you stop and apologize for those of us who spiral out there, I know you know.

My favorite on the album, and that's a tough choice! Invincible is a close 2nd for me, but this one just hits different! That synth interlude is prime Tool sound for me 🔥
