nah just put some plexiglass under the expanded metal, just make sure to give it a slight angle downwards towards the ladder in case liquids (boot from rain, spills, or w/e) also make it capable of sliding out to make it easy to clean.

My only worry with this desk, is if someone were to let one go while sitting on the top desk.... you would now be directly in the line of fire if you were using the bottom desk 0.0 but other than that I love the look of the desk and have always been a fan of the black metal and wood look.

Totally agree, an just wait till that first cup of hot or cold drink gets knocked over and rains down on anyone or any electrical. That is if it ever really gets used. In addition think about the guy stuck at the top in the corner who has to wait for the guy next to him to move down so he can run to the rest room, talk about possible unwanted spills.

i love the concept i would have used industrial plexiglass for the floor to ensure that no boot debris fall on top on the people or electronics below. you also could have done a sandwich plexiglass floor/ceiling and installed lights inside to give more desk illumination.

You should make a double triple decker desk. There would be 3 layers and two structures. The two structures would be back to back and maybe the bottom layer could have a shared desk. An another idea would be where you put the structures on wheels (with locks) so you can slide them apart which would make a really long triple decker desk. If you are confused, search "Hinge brick 1x4 swivel top". Basically, each 1x2 side that splits apart will be a desk.

    1. add some angle iron or something under each horizontal part, on the vertical parts. Currently those bolts are carrying a sheering load and a clamping load. By adding the angle on the verticals, the bolt would only have a clamping load on them.
    2. Something to prevent all the dirt/wood/human partials from falling from the top desk to the bottom desk/person. lol even if its just some bolted on plexie or something that can be removed to be cleaned.
Otherwise, i fucking love it. keep up the good work dudes.

That and it looks like they tapped the thread in the thin wall of the tubing. normally in steel you would at least want the thread depth to be as much as the diameter. maybe next time weld some bushing in? or flow drill
