    Great video! In lagoons I use a very similar method to fly fish for carp. All the best.

    Great video! Really inspiring to actually see someone catching mullet and the method is also one I’ve not seen before for them. I started trying for the mullet this summer and struggled to get any interest so will definitely be giving you’re dry dropper technique a go 👍 thanks for sharing 🙏

    Great video Tim, been fishing for mullet for many years. Like you said in your video going out 2 or times without hooking up but getting a lot of line pulls. Got to be 1 of the hardest fish to catch. Best ever session I had was landing 7 on a silver darter (sea trout fly) one evening a few years ago. Like the idea of the bite indicator. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🎣

    Great to see an angler with such dedication in all that mud. Working the bubble line nicely buddy. Fantastic content. I know the feeling of success rate as a beginner. Kudos to you Mr Pottage.

    Great stuff! Word of caution as someone who has been there, wading on mud flats can be difficult and I would highly recommend waders and especially laced wading boots as wellies can b difficult to pull out when they get stuck

    How do you go about finding potential spots to fish?

    • @flyfishinglondoner
      @flyfishinglondoner  2 роки тому +1

      Google is your friend! Check out any tidal river/estuary and look for inlets, bays, gulleys etc. A lot of info is about online, half the fun is in finding spots.

    nice we have this here in california where i'm from lots of schools and they jump but very trick to catch ..they range up to 20+ inch some big ones and i snag one long time ago and they have lots of power .... going to get a fly set up... you think a 6WT salt rod will be enough ? trying to keep it light not go 8wt or maybe even 7wt salt rods...

    • @flyfishinglondoner

      One species you have, Mugil cephalus, is global in distribution being found in the Mediterranean where in Spain at least it is called 'pardette'. Contact Colin Macleod through the Mullet on the Fly Facebook group for more info. A 6wt is perfect.

    That ‘brown foam’ is an algae that mullet love, I’m in Cornwall and when you see that on beaches, the fish are not far away. Our water is much cleaner though 😂😂

    Hi . Is the Flexi worm that you are using the same type as for example the Fulling Mill App's Bloodworm Red?

    • @flyfishinglondoner
      @flyfishinglondoner  Рік тому

      Various forms of the worm have been used there, beaded, UV dubbed, cactus chenille. So I see no reason why FM's variant won't work.

  • @LeooJam
    @LeooJam 2 роки тому +1

    Hey man ! What size tippet do you recommend ? Just ordered a bunch of blood worms and bread crumbs flys. I live right in front of a full of mullet estuary that i've spend my life fishing for sea bass with lures. Just got into fly fishing, and I really want to give a go at these mullets ! Thanks for the precious informations ! Cheers from France!

      I use .18 but will step it up over sharp rocks etc. This video was of a mudflats with no snags so no need to fish really thick line - although Josh looked to be using 12lb fluoro.

    So cool I live on Gulf coast and I'm trying to figure out how to catch Striped Mullet it's been pretty difficult so far with zero luck it seems like your Mullet eat more than just algae

    • @flyfishinglondoner
      @flyfishinglondoner  Рік тому

      Try this method, it works well with another species we have (golden grey mullet). Persevere, Colin Macleod catches Mugil cephalus (flathead mullet) on the fly in Spain. You have flathead where you are so I'm assuming that's the species your referring to.
