- Fly Fishing for Big Wild Brown Trout is one of my favorite things to do. There's something about those huge head shakes that make your heart and mind race.
In this video I spent 2 weeks looking for a mega wild brown trout. Finally after hours on the water I was able to hook up with one of the biggest brown trout of my life. The fish hit and I initially thought I was stuck on the bottom of the creek, but after walking up to get un-snagged the fish took off and a crazy fight commenced. I was even able to catch 2 rainbow trout at once on the same day!

man you are very inspiring. Every time when I don't feel like going out and fish/film or don't feel like editing, all I gotta do is watch your videos and it gives me an extra fuel. The reason you couldn't see her at first was that she was and is used to hiding well from large predators using the shadows and being able to blend in her surroundings. She could be laying beside the shore but if you can't see her you'll walk right by her and then she'll subtly dive where she know she can't be caught by the coon, bear, or eagle. She's been caught once before and her taking you to that rock where you thought you were stuck, she was waiting for you to get impatient and make a mistake where she could break free from a more inexperienced fisherman. Fish know just like other game when they're being hunted. Know your gear, know your waters, know your fish and respect for all. Very proud of you Jon and the Fisherman you've become. Another fantastic video ! Beautiful stretch of water with different size and species of fish. Heck, I even heard the sound of the rare "Dog Fish". You wantta have a tough battle hook onto one of them just be very, very careful when trying to land it ! The Native Browns were beauties especially that 26"er. Thank you for your time and effort put into your videos but also your fishing skills and dedication. 👍😊

In future videos can you introduce us to the gear you are using at the beginning + any fly changes throughout? Would be great to see what you are throwing and why choose certain patterns over others in different situations! Keep up the good work!
I would’ve in this video but when I’m fishing for so long I never exactly know what will work. So for me it feels weird to mention it everytime I change flies 😂 and because of that these type of videos rarely show what I’m using

Beautiful fish there. Loved the back and forth with that last one. I would have suspected a foul hook as well, before seeing it. Really appreciate the handling tips as well. I've seen way to many people release fish after improper handling through the years. I'm quite certain many of them never survived. Take care and God bless! 👍👊🏼🇺🇸

Great video! Those small streams dry out or get really warm in the summer? Crazy how much water is flowing through there. Amazing they can support such healthy fish.
Nope, most of the streams I fish this time of year are either spring fed or high enough elevation that they never have temperature issues!

Subscribed. I practice the same kinda fishing, dry fly or streamers on little streams to find our indigenous trouts, that here are "trota Fario Mediterranea", "trota Fario Marmorata, and only in Sardinia, "Trota Fario Macrostigma"...Obviusly i like also to fish some Temols, that are in risk of extincion, but are beatiful..Another fantastic type of Salmonid!

I enjoyed watching you fight that big brown. Some fish are harder fighters than others regardless of size. Kinda like people, I guess some are more high-strung and energetic than others!

Caught my first WV 20 inch wild brown trout today in a little known stream I found out about, plus two more wilds to boot.
I was besides my self happy. I’m from Indiana originally, where wild trout fishing simply doesn’t exist outside of Lake Michigan steelies and skamania.
Pretty crazy how good of a trout fishery WV is between the wild browns, rainbows, and native brookies.
