This video has Laurence Hanger written all over it. Drennan Specialist series is the best on UA-cam, content, production and finish. Absolutely flawless
As I am most interested in having a go at Mullet fishing, I first read your story in Hookpoint magazine, which led me to the video. After reading and watching the video, I feel like I've completed a full course on the subject, which is very informative. Thank you. 👍
Another great presentation Ben and fantastic under water footage, gives me a really good picture of exactly what is going on down there. Very well done and many thanks , best regards Larry 👍
Nice video, I agree they really do need some proper protection. The massive shoals of mullet around southern side of The lizard of my youth are a thing of the past due to being hammered by commercial fishermen netting every spring. Now the summer mullet fishing is nothing like it used to be, shame.
I caught a 3lb 1oz today and took it for the pan. I think as long as your sensible taking the odd one does no harm but your right they do need protection from the commercial boys
Very good video...yearn for a bit of mullet fishing.....there are some big thin lipped in local estuary up here on Essex...to my surprise on a tidal carp reccy I came across two big shoals of thin lipped ..in march...of all times... very early or did they even move off last year??....the Q is can I catch these on a spinner tipped with those artificial japonese power izome scented worms ...as natural rag worm are hard for me to source ..and of course they always refuse bread baits..unlike their cousin species....do you think this is worth the effort...???.
Try earth worms on a mepps spinner, 6 inches of line a size 16 hook on the top and a size 4 at the bottom, trim the worm off to the barb of the hook, works wonders believe me 👍.
Thomas, you can use any light rod for mullet fishing,a lite spinning rod with a small spinning reel and 8lb line is fine, honest it's playing the mullet that matters,👍.
I used to surface fish for them in spain and they were big fish good fight too on a hand reel e.g bit of wood with line on bit of bread in a ball they loved it
Mullet fishing is a serious test for any wannabe commercial carp puddle "expert" angler 😨 .... they're "smart" where the F1's and daft tame stuff aren't 😉
Why do people like you care so much that some people just want to go and catch fish. If you think it's so easy go sit on a venue you don't know and win a match, I'll double your winnings if you manage it. Go on it's so easy you'll nail it.
@@sjmclean0 Ooo you're touchy 😂. ... As an "ex" match angler who won The Angling Times autumn league more than once, you should be more careful who you challenge..... do you want your arse kicking on a canal? 😂
Carp are equally as intelligent imo. In a natural setting. When they are In a muddy puddle with no natural food at all and half starved then it’s a different story.

Excellent, really lovely. Nice that you included conservation issues.

Would love to give this a go. Got the series seven silverfish float rod, would this have enough back bone for Mullet?

Mullet are far too crafty a fish for the " Hook-a-Duck " Commercial men.
