Hi Nicki, This is a great video. I have been to Buenos Aires three times for work. The last visit was in August of 2008. We stayed in the City Center and had little time to be a tourist. I am now a retired senior citizen and my husband and I will visit next January for three days post-cruise. I am looking forward to reviewing all your videos. I am most concerned about the money situation. Keep up the great work!!!!
As a porteño, I must say you managed to give tons of information of my city in just 15 minutes. I would add the Villa Devoto neighbourhood, It´s a very nice low density zone (no tall buildings, lots of nice houses), beautiful streets, very safe, with fancy cafes and restaurants near the train station and near the main plaza. It´s rare to meet a tourist there cause it´s out of the circuit and there is no subway connection but you can go with the "San Martin" train line from Retiro terminal station to Devoto station, or with the Urquiza train line from Federico Lacroze terminal station (this terminal station is in barrio Chacarita, just next to Villa Crespo) to A. Devoto station. Both Devoto stations are near, and the cafes zone is just a couple of blocks away. I love to go there cause it´s not central and not as hectic as Palermo, which it´s too gentrified and kinda overcrowded for me, but of course if you visit Palermo as a tourist you´ll love it

Very nice review of my city in over 15'. Buenos Aires is beautiful and huge, so to explore it may take long but it's worth. I stayed in Villa Crespo last year, and it was a good slightly cheaper alternative to Palermo. But I really fell in love with Belgrano. Núñez also looks great. So many areas I still need to explore.

I love that you included Belgrano, Nunez and other areas that are worthy of a visit. Belgrano R is gorgeous. I think when you say something is "overpriced", people should know that may be a $10 meal, the prices in BA are so much cheaper than anywhere else basically. I had a steak dinner for $5 in Belgrano recently.
That makes sense. But everything in the video is in context within Buenos Aires. I don't know where people are from who are watching the video so I don't know their personal context for overpriced or not. That's great that you found such an affordable steak in Belgrano.
Nicki a haven't seen or heard from you since the video you did, the one that has a maids quarters plus TWO bedrooms for about two hundred dollars. If there's anyway I can get that information I would appreciate it. And I will keep watching your informative videos. Thanks!
Did you visit the Barrio Ingles in Caballito when you stayed here? And Pedro Goyena Avenue? Very upscale area in Caballito, very beautiful too. And the part of Almagro you showed is literally less than a block away from my flat haha. It’s a very residential area, but full of business and shops. And extremely well connected to the rest of the city
As an Argentinian but living 40 years in the U.S you did a great job covering the neighborhoods. I grew up in Nunez and it was great which of course is next to Belgrano which was always a good neighborhood. The way things are going in the U.S who knows, maybe I'll spend 1 year in Argentina. I'm sure it'll be pretty cheap with the exchange...
We hope to spend a couple months in BA. Can you give me some idea how much we are looking at for rent in Palermo vs San Telmo ?...just a simple one bedroom.... thanks !
We are heading to BA next year for a few months and am just discovering you... I really appreciate your tone and communication style! Looking forward to learning more from your other videos. :)
i have been living in buenos airies for 3 months now and i would say this is a very good guide however it could easily be misleading to outsiders, such as when i watched this video before I came. My advice is stick to the more outlying areas she mentions. No matter where you live in BA there will be PLENTY to do and see around you. It's a thick city. You won't be deprived of services or experiences anywhere you live so venture further out for a 'chiller' but also still intense thick experience. My 2 cents.
I loved this video it is really on point how you describe the neighborhoods and it's suprising how you included barrios like Belgrano, Nuñez and Colegiales and I'm really glad haha cause I live around there, actually in Coghlan/Saavedra which are safe and quiet neighborhoods but maybe they're much more 'middle class' barrios than Belgrano or Núñez
God, I miss my city! I lived in the neighborhood Villa Devoto, which is also another residential beautiful place, for 22 years. Now I live in Ituzaingo, outside of the city, and I'm sick of it. Can't wait to go back to the magic of Buenos Aires City.

A Caballito y Almagro sumaría Boedo, creo que tiene un aire bastante bohemio muy inspirado en el tango similar a San Telmo o La Boca, y es más seguro y agradable para vivir, mucho transporte y cerca de lugares históricos para turistear
Nicki, what neighborhoods do you recommend for families who may not want to live directly in the city but maybe on the beach in a more nature based setting? Thank you!
i see the video casuality, but is amazing, caballito is beautiful, en palermo encontras muchisimas cosas hermosas, y en san telmo tambien, en general todo lugar tiene algo que difrerencia del otro, me encanto el video
We just returned from BA and loved it! We are very interested in buying property in Palermo Soho or some of the neighborhoods you recommended. Do you know of a good real estate attorney or agent that you would recommend?
Missed other zones of Palermo btw... Palermo is big and its not only Soho, Chico and Hollywood... Alto Palermo? Cañitas? Pacifico? Botanico? The zone close to Abasto and Pueyrredon (no sub name... ), etc etc Also missed Urquiza, Chacarita, Saavedra... Could also add Devoto, Abasto, Retiro, Parque Chacabuco, Flores, Floresta, Parque Patricios, Paternal, Villa del Parque. All really good neighborhoods too.
Depends on what you're looking for. If you want to go out, Palermo. Though San Telmo has great places to go out as well. The Sunday market is in San Telmo and it would be nice to be close by.
Are there any fellow-European ending up watching this video because of the threat of war? 😀Cause these videos started to show up and I never googled Argentina before.
Can we say "colonial" though? I mean, all the territories Spain conquered were given same status as Europe's continental Spain, there were viceroyalties with a head of government representing the king of Spain which was a viceroy, all territories from Virreinato de la Nueva España till Capitania general de Chile and Virreinato del Rio de la Plata was part of Spain, not colonies.
Hi I want to visit maybe Sept or Oct 2024 I only have 8 days there is it safe to say 4 days in each place with Palermo being one and Buenos Aries being 2nd? I'm assuming I should stay in Palermo 4 day hotel there then take a Uber to BA or which is the fastest and or safest way to go to BA from there or visa versa depending on where I stay first Also, in your opinion. And I know this might sound dumb but if I go at the time where it's less crowds during the spring season, Sept-Nov will I be less of a target only due to less scammers on the streets or WORSE OF A TARGET since there is no one on the streets? I'm also assuming all other cities around Buenos Aries are much safer ? I mainly want to go to BA to see museums and take pics 🙄🙄While trying to be inconspicuous and or I don't mind taking a disposable camera, maybe that's best.? If the thieves DONT SEE MY PHONE, then u think I'll be less of. Target, but would I be safer taking pictures with my phone somewhere else other than Buenos Aries? And if I go in September or October, should I bring a spring jacket or how to dress? Thanks PS. I'll change money in Amercia first and take it with me. I only hope when I get change it'll be REAL MONEY NOT FAKE🤔🙄🙄🙄😪 ALSO DO I get the bus pass at the airport ? How much should I load on it for 8 to 9 days Sorry, i didn't finish the video🙄
I'm excited to try the scones at your favorite bakery in Recoleta that you mentioned at 6:45, but I'm not clear on whether it's the "most famous" restaurant you mentioned right before or the empanada place you mentioned right after, or somewhere else. Could you clarify where these unmissable scones are? Thanks!
Hi Kenn- sorry for any confusion. These amazing scones were from Andra Bakery. The empanadas at San Juanino are fantastic as well, but the scones specifically are from Andra. it's just a tiny little cafe with a bright blue door! :) The more famous restaurant in that area is called La Biela.
Hi Niki: I am going to Buenos Aires VERY soon. My intentions are to establish myself as an expat. To live there some years. Like a good many expats, I live on a budget. I believe that's a subject category, catering to a significant element of our American citizens. And it has good viewership on Utube and you are well versed in the subject. I have viewed quite a few of your videos as well as others. The video that I found most relevant and of most interesting to me was... the one you made of the apartment that had two bedrooms and a maids quarters for... Around two hundred dollars. Wow!! I want to have that place. What neighborhood is that on? Tell us about THAT neighborhood. Please. Good bad or indifferent?
Her Will, can you tell me the title of the video you’re talking about? I can’t think of any apartment I lived in with 2 bedrooms and a maid’s quarters in Argentina. Is it possible you watched a Gringo Nation video about living in Georgia?
Buenos Aires is a safe city. La Boca is also the poorest neighborhood in BA. The secret is not to walk around dressed as a tourist, so as not to feel uncomfortable, I think, and not be afraid and enjoy.
Exellent video, American Girls are super pretty I must to admit it. Did someone ever told you that you look very similar to the actress Catherine Anne O'Hara from the movie Home Alone?
Hi there! Awesome videos. I am heading to BA next month with my wife. Which neighborhood would you recommend to stay for folks who like nice coffee shops, bakeries and dislike high rises?
Thank you for the information. In 2024, I plan on visiting Buenos Aires for 3 months and looking for a place to rent for the duration. Your videos are step stones for me to plan this trip. Thank you.
Hi, Nicki, I'm moving to BA next year and need a fair amount of quiet as I'm a writer. Of these neighborhoods, which would lean towards being more chill? thanks a lot, Frank
As an Argentian who lives in BA, I would say Coghlan, Parque Chas or some places of Caballito might work. The more you get far from the neiborhoods mentioned on this video, the calmer it becomes. And also cheaper.
You could be in a "quiet" neighborhood with tons of street noise. Only rent contrafrete, or flats in the back and not inside ones facing a dark courtyard.
I would it be possible to find a one bedroom one bathroom one living room. Mildly modern apartment in Palermo or center or almagro for 500$. If so how modern
Hmmm I don't want to say impossible, but it is becoming less possible lately, especially in Palermo. You could probably find something closer to 600-700 in Palermo for what you're looking for. But I don't want to say impossible. You could ask around once you get there and see if someone you know knows someone renting an apt!
Constructive criticism, it would be very helpful to print the names of the places on the video when you talk about them. Hard to search on Google maps trying to figure out the spelling.
I'm sorry that guy dumped you, but visiting Argentina in a couple of months for the first time. What part of city do you recommend I stay? What is walking distance to the gyms, bars, restaurants, strip bars, etc? I am not a backpacker like you guys and I don't stay in hostels. I like upscale hotels and am fluent in Spanish so I don't care to see foreigners or tourists. When I visit Spanish speaking countries I don't want to hear English. Thanks in advance.
It will be very hard these days to find a place to live under $300/mo in BA. Prices just keep going up and up. You could check the outer suburbs. Or consider living in a different, more affordable city like Mendoza or Salta.

That makes sense. But everything in the video is in context within Buenos Aires. I don't know where people are from who are watching the video so I don't know their personal context for overpriced or not. That's great that you found such an affordable steak in Belgrano.
Nice, I also lived in Almagro in 2005 close to Subte A Loria station.
Nicki a haven't seen or heard from you since the video you did, the one
that has a maids quarters plus TWO bedrooms for about two hundred dollars. If there's anyway I can get that information I would appreciate it. And I will keep watching your informative videos. Thanks!
You may have confused me with someone else. I never lived in an apartment like that in Argentina.
Im looking forward to slow-traveling Uruguay and Argentina October 2024-March 2025. Focusing on culinary and vineyard touring.
Very informative video, well convinced and well photographed.
Thank you so much 💜
13:44 That's my school at the right. I graduated from high school 34 years ago LOL
Moving (permanently) to Recoleta June 1. Have my apartment. See you soon!
Amazing! Have the best time!! :)
😂😂😂 estás loco !!
Hi! 9 de Julio Ave is the widest. Rivadavia Ave is the longest.
I grew up in Banfield, my dad was born in San Telmo. I live in Tx but when i visit i stayed with my brothers in Banfield.
Great video BTW.
That’s so cool, great experience! 💙
You definitely should!!!!! 💙💙
You will always be very welcome 🇦🇷
We hope to spend a couple months in BA. Can you give me some idea how much we are looking at for rent in Palermo vs San Telmo ?...just a simple one bedroom.... thanks !
We are heading to BA next year for a few months and am just discovering you... I really appreciate your tone and communication style! Looking forward to learning more from your other videos. :)
Thank you for the recommendation I am in Buenos Aires Argentina
i have been living in buenos airies for 3 months now and i would say this is a very good guide however it could easily be misleading to outsiders, such as when i watched this video before I came. My advice is stick to the more outlying areas she mentions. No matter where you live in BA there will be PLENTY to do and see around you. It's a thick city. You won't be deprived of services or experiences anywhere you live so venture further out for a 'chiller' but also still intense thick experience. My 2 cents.
Great video with such good information!
Thank you so much, Tom!! :)
Thank you so much for watching. BA has many great neighborhoods! :)
God, I miss my city! I lived in the neighborhood Villa Devoto, which is also another residential beautiful place, for 22 years. Now I live in Ituzaingo, outside of the city, and I'm sick of it. Can't wait to go back to the magic of Buenos Aires City.
Superb video! Your insights are so helpful. Argentina is looking better and better to me thanks to you👍🏻👏🏻🙏🤙🏻
So happy to hear!! Argentina is amazing! :)
La Boca, una hermosura ,historica inmigracion Genoves,
Sii, re hermosa. Pero me robaron el mobil ahi! :(
Very convincing,I live in Jordan but my brother want move there
Oh cool! I loved Jordan too! :)
Sirios jordanos y libanés viven en la zona pre cordillera de la Argentina
Y vos?
Nicki, what neighborhoods do you recommend for families who may not want to live directly in the city but maybe on the beach in a more nature based setting? Thank you!
Good stuff Nicki!
Thank you, Mart! :)
i see the video casuality, but is amazing, caballito is beautiful, en palermo encontras muchisimas cosas hermosas, y en san telmo tambien, en general todo lugar tiene algo que difrerencia del otro, me encanto el video
Gracias 💙
@@NickiPostsTravelStuff come back soon
We just returned from BA and loved it! We are very interested in buying property in Palermo Soho or some of the neighborhoods you recommended. Do you know of a good real estate attorney or agent that you would recommend?
Wow this was so helpful!!!
Oh great, I’m so happy to hear that! :)
How about Mar De Plata?
Awesome episode Nicki, greetings
Thank you so much, Axel! :)
@@NickiPostsTravelStuff It's not said La Recoleta is just Recoleta
@@axelpap4613 Thanks so much. That always confuses me because I’ve seen it written both ways before!
@@NickiPostsTravelStuff Ok 👍
awesome breakdown, thank you! What percentage of natives/locals speak english there?
Missed other zones of Palermo btw...
Palermo is big and its not only Soho, Chico and Hollywood...
Alto Palermo? Cañitas? Pacifico? Botanico? The zone close to Abasto and Pueyrredon (no sub name... ), etc etc
Also missed Urquiza, Chacarita, Saavedra... Could also add Devoto, Abasto, Retiro, Parque Chacabuco, Flores, Floresta, Parque Patricios, Paternal, Villa del Parque. All really good neighborhoods too.

Love all your videos- they are super helpful! For a quick first time stay, Thurs-Sun, would you recommend Palermo or San Telmo?
Depends on what you're looking for. If you want to go out, Palermo. Though San Telmo has great places to go out as well. The Sunday market is in San Telmo and it would be nice to be close by.
thank you
Great video ! by the way, you have beautiful electric blue eyes.
Oh thank you!
hi Nicki, great video !!! enjoy BA !
Thank you! :)
Are there any fellow-European ending up watching this video because of the threat of war? 😀Cause these videos started to show up and I never googled Argentina before.
Hey Nicki, just a nitpick: you said the architecture in San Telmo is "pre-colonial." It's not. It's just "colonial." Excellent video!
Thanks for nitpicking, Edward. Love that for you ❤️
@@NickiPostsTravelStuff Pre colonial would be indigenous
Can we say "colonial" though? I mean, all the territories Spain conquered were given same status as Europe's continental Spain, there were viceroyalties with a head of government representing the king of Spain which was a viceroy, all territories from Virreinato de la Nueva España till Capitania general de Chile and Virreinato del Rio de la Plata was part of Spain, not colonies.
So very informative, thank you!
Hi I want to visit maybe Sept or Oct 2024 I only have 8 days there is it safe to say 4 days in each place with Palermo being one and Buenos Aries being 2nd?
I'm assuming I should stay in Palermo 4 day hotel there then take a Uber to BA or which is the fastest and or safest way to go to BA from there or visa versa depending on where I stay first
Also, in your opinion.
Thanks
PS. I'll change money in Amercia first and take it with me. I only hope when I get change it'll be REAL MONEY NOT FAKE🤔🙄🙄🙄😪
ALSO DO I get the bus pass at the airport ? How much should I load on it for 8 to 9 days
Sorry, i didn't finish the video🙄
Procreate clips are awesome addition! Subscribed 😊
@@NickiPostsTravelStuff Thanks for that! We'll check them out.
@@kennnesbitt Enjoy!! :)
@@NickiPostsTravelStuff La Biela no es precisamente un restaurante, es un bar/confitería en donde también se puede almorzar o cenar.
Hi Niki: I am going to Buenos Aires
VERY soon. My intentions are to establish myself as an expat. To live there some years. Like a good many expats, I live on a budget. I believe that's a subject category, catering to
a significant element of our American citizens. And it has good viewership on Utube and you are well versed in the subject. I have viewed quite a few of your videos as well as others. The video that I found most relevant and of most interesting to me was... the one you made of the apartment that had two bedrooms and a maids quarters for... Around
two hundred dollars.
How does a tourist dress?
@@quadsplus1 Baseball cap? Expensive camera?
Hey! I live in one of the buildings you shot by the end of the video. Should you want to take some 22nd floor snapshots, just let me know!
Recoleta or Palermo! :)
Palermo. Fue best Pizza: La Accademia.
Do you have a video with places to eat that are good but not too expensive with prices in dollars, I’m going in November
I do Jane a food video in San Telmo, but I don’t have a video specifically with what you’re looking for. However, most restaurants are affordable! :)
Casa Rosada is Government House, not a residence like the White House. The President has an official mansion in the northern suburbs
Thank you for the information. In 2024, I plan on visiting Buenos Aires for 3 months and looking for a place to rent for the duration. Your videos are step stones for me to plan this trip. Thank you.
Oh excellent, I’m so glad I can be of help to you! :)
I’m traveling on May. How’s the transportation there to go to these places??
I actually have a video about transportation within BA that could be very useful to you! :)
Tienes subte, y metrobús, taxi + Google Maps ningún problema. Solo recuerda que es Latinoamérica se discreta y no exhibas tu tecnología sin cuidado.
the fare is about 10 cents in US dollars and it goes everywhere
Do you have a good recommendation for a real estate attorney and agent in the Buenos Aires? We are very interested in buying property.
Hi, Nicki, I'm moving to BA next year and need a fair amount of quiet as I'm a writer. Of these neighborhoods, which would lean towards being more chill? thanks a lot, Frank
Hey! Probably Belgrano or Nuñez! :)
As an Argentian who lives in BA, I would say Coghlan, Parque Chas or some places of Caballito might work. The more you get far from the neiborhoods mentioned on this video, the calmer it becomes. And also cheaper.
gracias Mauro@@maurobilotti
You could be in a "quiet" neighborhood with tons of street noise. Only rent contrafrete, or flats in the back and not inside ones facing a dark courtyard.
Imperdonable no poner Retiro, y su plaza San Martin. En que pensabas?
Yes and Calle Arroyo
En la seguridad...Tenes la villa ahi pegada...quizas por eso no lo recomendo, aunque es muy lindo
For me, it's Puerto Madero. But most of them are nice (save for the southside).
PM definitely has its perks. It's very safe and modern. It just feels so far from everything else in the city for me.
Constructive criticism, it would be very helpful to print the names of the places on the video when you talk about them. Hard to search on Google maps trying to figure out the spelling.
Your eyes look amazing in the intro..
Oh thank you!
Mercado San Telmo is from late 1880's! Not new, as you can tell. New shops or bars inside? That, yes. All the time.
Nice video
Palermo is great. I prefer Cordoba, San Luis and Salta to mention a few.
I also really enjoy the smaller cities outside the capital! :)
Salta is a beautiful city. La gente , la cultura , la gastronomía , los hermosos paisajes , todo es hermoso !!!
When you say "summer" do you mean December - February (when it is hottest down there)?
When I say summer, I’m referring to local seasons! :)
Yes
I'm sorry that guy dumped you, but visiting Argentina in a couple of months for the first time. What part of city do you recommend I stay? What is walking distance to the gyms, bars, restaurants, strip bars, etc? I am not a backpacker like you guys and I don't stay in hostels. I like upscale hotels and am fluent in Spanish so I don't care to see foreigners or tourists. When I visit Spanish speaking countries I don't want to hear English. Thanks in advance.
Recoleta
where would you buy a small house or apt
You went to Nuñez and didn't show the River Plate Stadium, El Monumental.
I want to live in Villa Crespo and Colegiates!
Im going to have $995 a month to Live. Whats the best area for walking, biking.. under $300 a month to Rent?😊
It will be very hard these days to find a place to live under $300/mo in BA. Prices just keep going up and up. You could check the outer suburbs. Or consider living in a different, more affordable city like Mendoza or Salta.
