Hi guys, the "Choripan" isn't a version of "hot dog" in Argentina, the "panchos" is a "hot dog" in Argentina.
The Choripan is an originary sandwich from Córdoba (Argentina). It then spread to the rest of the country. It is a traditional food.

I’m an Argentinian so always interested in seeing and hearing about experiences in my country. Have really been enjoying your excellent videos. I don’t know who does the editing but it is really top notch. Hope you will have time to see something else and not just Buenos Aires. I lived in Puerto Madryn, Patagonia and I would have recommended going there for whale watching but it is no longer the season and you have plenty in Australia. So, second choice would be Iguazú falls, be prepared to die of heat and get really wet if you take the boat excursion but this year has been exceptionally good with a lot of water coming over the falls. By the way loved your country, specially Tasmania where we rented a motor home. Cheers

I would say that with the Italian immigration ice cream has changed, but people were making some sort of ice cream in colonial times, before we were Argentina, as a teacher we ,teach the customs, food, clothing, etc. in colonial times, and that's how I learned that ice cream was made specially in winter time, if you didn't live in an area where there where snow, people used to put milk in zinc big jars and wrapped in leather soaked with nitrate or salt and they mounted these jars on horses, making them run back and forth. A certain distance at a certain speed, the salt allows the cold to pass into the milk that is being churned by the horse, obtaining a frozen foam, which is then sweetened with sugar and cinnamon, in summer. They tried to preserve ice in large pits in the ground, (just as centuries before Turks did in the sand).yep Turkish brought their idea of ice cream to spain and we all know that first to make some kind of ice cream were the Chinese, mixing milk with snow. The first actual italian gelato was made around 1608, with Vanilla and chocolate flavors

Hi there, a Buenos Aires foodie here. The choripan typically goes with salsa: the Chimichurri. There is always some sort of container with lots of it somewhere to throw your preferred amount in there. Hope you had the chance to taste that together.
Also, the Fugazetta is not a focaccia, it's a pizza. If you find it different than any other pizza is because here we have our own interpretation of the Italian pizza, and 100% will prefer it over its origins. Ours really focuses on cheese and tends to, although depending on what you ask (pizza a la piedra, for example) be thicker than the Italian one. I hope you enjoyed your stay!

The African population used to be more than 50 percent of the Argentine population, and there used to be more black people in Argentina than in Brazil, Argentina committed mass genocide against its African population, and I personally would never set foot in Argentina.
Argentina from 1868 to 1874, Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, undertook a genocide' that wiped out the Afro-Argentinean population to the point that by 1875, there were so few Black people left in Argentina that the government didn't even bother registering African descendants in the national census.
Tellingly, Sarmiento wrote in his diary in 1848: What is [to be] done with such blacks, hated by the white race? Slavery is a parasite that the vegetation of English colonization has left attached to the leafy tree of freedom,” - International Business Times.
imagine they killed half their population. the land of Argentina was fertilized with the blood and bones of Argentina's former African enslaved population.
the food that grows in Argentina, and the grass that grows, for which the cattle graze on, was fertilized by the blood and bones of, its former African enslaved population,
that unique taste that you taste, when you eat food grown and grazed in Argentina, is the blood and bones of your former enslaved people.
African slaves built Argentina, and then the former slave owners paid back the slaves for the great works, toil, and effort, with mass genocide,
the most complete and comprehensive genocide in human history.
most of the present black and African population in Argentina are recent elite African and black immigrants, who did not arrive in Argentina until after 1980 and are not descendants of Argentina's African enslaved population. Argentina has gone a long way in whitewashing the genocide of its former African enslaved population, by allowing marginal mostly elite African immigrants, who themselves are somewhat anti-African, and tend to be very invested in absolving the European Argentine population of its genocide past, one of histories most comprehensive genocides committed against Argentinas descendants of Argentinas African population descendant of the trans-Atlantic slave system

Argie here from BA. Great video but just so you guys know, you had the "standard" version of the food you chose. Of course no one expects you to know this much, but we have places offering far more elevated experiences with milanesa, choripán, fugazzetta and icecream. Maybe not so much steak, our meat is great pretty much everywhere.
Next time you're here I'm sure you'll see these dishes in a new light if you dig deeper.

You ve just scratched the surface, there is a better version for every food youve tried and it isnt always more expensive. I wish you try locals recommendations next time here, plenty of hidden gems in every neighbourhood.
Also, you must try a full family asado, with achuras, vegetables and all, the cooker (asador) is kind of the host and he will take care your meat is in the right cooking stage of your preference, and so on with every guest. It trully is kind of a collective art. Next visit im sure many of us would love to share that experience. Dont forget to applaud the asador.

That ice cream ( helado Daniel ) is industrially made, not handmade, but it is one of the good industrial brands. You should try the artisan ice cream ( Helado artesanal ) , they are recognizable because in the window it has the seal of ARTESANAL ICE CREAM. About the meat or bistec, you can eat the best meat in any restaurant, it is not necessary to go to the most expensive restaurant like Don Julio or La Cabrera. You have to try the sandwiches de miga Ham and cheese, they are very special Argentinean sandwiches, you don't see them in other countries. Welcome to BA

Milanesas are literally schnitzels, and Milanesa napolitana is basically dressing it like a pizza (traditionally with tomato slices over mozzarella cheese but today almost allways people would add ham like you saw).
There is also another variant we call "Milanesa a caballo" (wich means "Milanesa on horseback"). Being "A caballo" means that its served with two fried eggs on top.

I'm glad you're enjoying our country and food! Welcome, and have a wonderful time here!
If you're up to try new things, considering you liked the medialunas go to a café and ask for "Medialunas con jamon y queso", we cut the medialuna in half and put cheese and ham inside of it and warm it so the cheese melts. You'll love it.
It's super hot now so some of our more traditional dishes would'nt be fit for the weather, like Locro or Guiso de Lentejas (If you wanna try them, well, just be sure to sit under an air conditioner unit haha) but you should definetely try our empanadas and pastel de papas.
If you go to a Parrilla (Grill house), I'd recommend you ask for "Mollejas" (sweet bread), a Morcilla, Riñón and Chinchulines. All those goes with Chorizo (The one you ate on the Choripán) as a side dish when you make Asado and are something really traditional here.
Finally, ask for a Chocotorta (Choco-Cake) if you go to a café. It's not ACTUALLY a cake, but it's a classic here, you'll love it!
Don't forget to visit Puerto Madero, it's a beautiful place here in Buenos Aires all visitors love.
    Cheers, and enjoy!

If you plan to travel abroad Argentina, from top to bottom you should consider Cataratas de Iguazú in the province of Misiones. Purmamarca in Jujuy. Salta is beautiful too. Don't forget Mendoza for the best wine in the country. La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano in Cordoba. Bariloche in Rio Negro, San Martin de los Andes in Neuquen. The Glaciar Perito Moreno in Santa Cruz. And Puerto Madryn in Chubut for the whales sighting.
There you have some references if you need some!

It's PARRISSHAAA, very agressive with the double R and the SH. It's like the pronunciation of "parish" but with and A at the begining and adding one at the end. Next time you should try milanesa from "El Antojo", in Villa Devoto. It's awarded with the best milanesa in Argentina. And try other Heladerias such as "Cadore". Daniel Helados is not that bad, but is like a Mc Donalds with Ice creams. Great video BTW. Please come back any time!

In the milanesas, we put the sauce on top of the cheese, to prevent the sauce from coming into contact with the bread coating, it must be crispy. The cheese acts as an insulator, the texture is prioritized, not the visual. Otherwise the sauce would hydrate the bread coating, it would be creamy and not crunchy. In this case, the order of the factors alters the product. Greetings.
