I love that genuine confusion in Spy's face. Like he had expected Soldier to be quite brainless, but that is a level of stupidity even he hadn't anticipated.
That brief expression of being absolutely baffled, it just screams of Spy really wanting to say something about it, only to realise who he'd be saying it to and opting to move on instead in the hopes of getting it over with.
This is fucking hilarious once you realise that the soldier wasn't being sarcastic. This is the kind of thing someone might do as a joke; overreacting from being shown something as mundane as a bucket, but Soldier is being completely genuine in his awestruck horror.
When I heard he passed away, this popped into my head. Now all the people paying respect to him has me thinking of two things. 1) The amount of care and respect the TF2 community has is so vast it stretches past the players to others paying respects. 2) Soldier’s VA passes away: “This is my depression.” “Dear god.” “There’s more.” “No...” Rick May is and was an iconic voice in gaming, and he’ll be remembered for decades to come. Rest easy, soldier.
