I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: Spongebob’s house is the one you want as a kid, Squidwards’s house is the one you want as an adult, And Patrick’s house is the one you can afford.
It works for not just the background areas but the main city in general. Having a city made out of car mufflers and other metal junk is very fitting in a weird maybe ironic way
I think what immediately raises the value and usability of almost all houses in Spongebob is that their exterior and interior are only very loosely connected. Squidward's house, for example, is somehow able to use only two outside windows that are accesible from far more than two inside rooms. I'd argue that incorporating the technology to create non-euclidian interior spaces into basically every single house speaks for the skill and ingenuinity of Bikini Bottom's architects - far surpassing the skills we humans possess. On that note, I find it admirable that Bikini Bottom's architects do not limit themselves by interpretings the rules of nature as LAWS of physics, but rather see them as what they really are - well-meant suggestions of physics.
An honorable mention goes to Mrs. Puff's house. It's so cozy, tidy, and feminine, like how you would imagine a friendly middle aged woman would design her estate if given the resources. But the most amazing part of her home is that mysterious picture of her entering her house, which in it has a picture of her entering her house... and in that, it goes on forever.😯
By the way, this is just a reminder that Squidward has an elevator. It’s not used often, but he has one. I believe it first showed up in _Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost_ and has made small appearances every time the writers/animators remember it exists.
@tuarnproject In your defense, if you were to include every one-off joke or episode, it becomes really difficult to rank the homes. For example, Spongebob has a secret jellyfishing room in his basement that comes complete with a flamboyant entrance and rope fire-pole. P.S It's criminal of you to not put Squilliam's house #1. I mean, I understand it's main characters only, but still.
I think you should also add that Sandy’s house has advanced enough climate control to simulate surface seasons, including a winter snowstorm. Whatever cooling/heating system Sandy has, it WORKS

A really good video however you forgot to point out a glaring flaw in Sandy's home. The main structure, the tree, uses leaves as walls, and so it is only available to be re-furnished and used as a bedroom during two seasons of a year when it would have leaves. I'm sure the base of the tree has its own rooms and that is how she manages to continue living there, but clearly she prefers having her bedroom in the middle of the leaves.

Its cool that all of the houses match the characters personalities. Plankton’s is dull and dingy and reflects his poor financial state, Patrick’s is simple kinda like him, Mr Krabs’ is cluttered because of his tendency to horde stuff (particularly money), Spongebob’s is creative and colourful like him, Sandy’s is practical and innovative, and Squidward’s is artistic which reflects his hobbies

I once heard a saying that an Architect's dream house is an Engineer's nightmare. That being said, I can see why an architect would rate "fictional houses". Meanwhile an Engineer would probably say "all these houses are terrible".
Water itself is a great conductor of heat, that’s why in computer science, liquid cooling systems are becoming more popular as they’ve become more affordable. They’re actually really effective. It’s for this reason I don’t think overheating would be much of an issue with Sandy’s tree dome, as the water would do it’s part to conduct heat away As for ventilation, I always assumed her big ol tree served the role of recycling air. Not entirely sure how effective that would be in practice.
4:57 a bucket & crab trap could also realistically find their way to the bottom or a reef or something. I can see a Moray eel living in a sideways bucket.
Im not entirely sure if someone else has suggested this because I haven't really scrolled thru the comments that much, but wouldn't the whole ventilation thing in Sandy's Treedome not be a problem because her house technically IS the ventilation? She's typically the only resident in there, and she has a tree and plenty of vegetation to recycle oxygen, that I wouldn't really think it would be a issue. But, of course, I could be wrong in multiple ways. Besides that, I really enjoyed the video!! I love watching people rank certain, often overlooked aspects of spongebob, like that one video ranking the background characters!
You're definitely right, I was thinking more so if these houses were actual built structures on land. Thank you, I'm really appreciative you enjoyed the video!
A further option would be that air can gat in with osmoses. We can see in the video that the door is a airlock. It could be speculated that said airlock can also be used to extract O2 from the sea water. And similar to Patrick as we do not see a bottom of said dome. she could have space below the ground. like all extra technical equipment.

Really loved the video, man. The simple self inserts add so much charm others lack in this field of content. I'll continue to support and watch you, thanks.
So we are not going to mention the fact that Patrick's house is a literal death trap? Not only does he have an unsupported sand pit ready to collapse at any time, he also has a heavy object over it that can both cause a collapse or be the collapse. With this in mind, I believe Plankton should be promoted to 5th place.
This video was so calm. Your voice, the music, the way you put your character in some of these scenes and the overall topic, I loved it. This is the sort of stuff UA-cam should promote instead of that brain rot mr beast, ishowspeed, etc nonsense. This was a nice and informative video really.
Seriously, I love your videos about architecture! If you decide to continue with this series, you should consider reviewing the houses of Happy Tree Friends. There are plenty of interesting locations in that show.
Maybe you can do a part 2? You could also rate the krusty krab, Squilliam Fancyson's house, Larry the Lobster's gym, Mrs. Tentacle's house. There's so many buildings in Bikini Bottom that you could rate
i think we should stop construction of anything other than strip malls and big box stores, no need for these stuffy architects and their "design" when we can have an awesome parking lot
Headcanon; the leaves on SpongeBob's house are actually part of an AC system that revolves around circulating heat into the surrounding water using the massive surface area of the leaves, which actually cycle hot coolant through them.

please rate the diversely unique architecture of squidville next please 🙏
more like urban planning, same thing with most suburbs, the house itself isin't bad, but the urban planning is pathetic
I think you got something special here bro! The architect knowledge matched with any popular show in this way could really blow up this channel. Also the animated character is obviously awesome. Keep up the great work! I subscribed.
1:59 the best solution to that is perhaps some of it is built underground, also sponge bob’s house does make sense, cuz I actually created a map of where the rooms could possibly fit, but I’m not the architect.
"and bumblebee!" ahh character 😭😭
I appreciate the full season 4+ spongebob knowledge.
A video I never knew could exist but immensely needed. Thank you, sir!!! This is GOLDEN!!! ✨✨✨
Thank you! You are GOLDEN!
Man, I'd love to live in Squidward's house.
About ventilation and fresh air: sand filters water, so Patrick’s house probably is well ventilated
6:21 i like how you're character is just watching theogh the window
"name another character in fiction who uses a fruit as a house"
strawberry shortcake and all the little guys in james and the giant peach would like to have a word with you-
Honestly, it doesn’t surprise me if the squids in Bikini Bottom just use the Easter Island Head house because of how practical it is, given that in general, squids are depicted as holding their intelligence and artistic abilities in high regard.
Can we take a moment to appreciate the way he edited his avatar into the scenes? So adorable and well done!
Never let Real Civil Engineer know you exist.
The nostalgia coming from this video hit me dawg. I grew up watching Spongebob and it is in my top 10 shows of all time.
Really loved the video, man. The simple self inserts add so much charm others lack in this field of content. I'll continue to support and watch you, thanks.
You can’t just Impersonate an Architect
The way you’ve integrated your avatar into the B roll is actually very unique and cool. Something I’ve never seen in a UA-cam video before.
i like this channel this is nice and ur voice is relaxing
Haha thank you dude :)
These houses are fab and fancy!
Squidward would live in a house that's considered sensible to architect bachelors.
Very much enjoyed this. It's very relaxing.
I totally agree with Squidward’s house being the best, I love Moais just as much as him! 🗿
Rock/dome, Bucket, Pineapple, Anchor, Head
This video was so calm. Your voice, the music, the way you put your character in some of these scenes and the overall topic, I loved it. This is the sort of stuff UA-cam should promote instead of that brain rot mr beast, ishowspeed, etc nonsense. This was a nice and informative video really.
Seriously, I love your videos about architecture!
If you decide to continue with this series, you should consider reviewing the houses of Happy Tree Friends.
There are plenty of interesting locations in that show.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy the videos! I love that video idea and yes, expect much more architecture videos 😀
I just found this channel and I must say. It's amazing. Keep posting!!
Love how he just edits his avatar into scenes from the show
Maybe you can do a part 2? You could also rate the krusty krab, Squilliam Fancyson's house, Larry the Lobster's gym, Mrs. Tentacle's house. There's so many buildings in Bikini Bottom that you could rate
as an architecture second year student i love this video sm pls don't stop w the media architectural analysis' !!
i think we should stop construction of anything other than strip malls and big box stores, no need for these stuffy architects and their "design" when we can have an awesome parking lot
this was an amazing video, what on earth? i need everyone to see this
Awesome video, It's good to see some positive videos about SpongeBob now.
Thank you :)
Headcanon; the leaves on SpongeBob's house are actually part of an AC system that revolves around circulating heat into the surrounding water using the massive surface area of the leaves, which actually cycle hot coolant through them.
