I know exactly how this guy feels. Once in my life I got a henna tattoo and I told everyone that it was real. Every morning I was worried when I woke up it would be faded enough to tell it wasn’t real. 1st grade was brutal.
ya like when he says he lied about his school and steve LIES again saying its from wikipedia. ITS FROM HIS PERSONAL WEBSITE. this guy is seriously PATHOLOGICAL. and howard doesnt even press him on it.
+Elizabeth Montilla He keeps a calm voice and calm demeanour. Most important he shows interest in what Steve has to say. You can get anyone to talk for hours when it's about themselves.
+Elizabeth Montilla Paul McCartney handed the man a violin bass for his birthday. Some of my favorite interviews came from Stern, and people seems to appreciate his lack of bullshittery.
I’m actually impressed by how well Rannazzisi is handling the conversation. It’s such an uncomfortable and humiliating situation he put himself in, and he’s dealing pretty well with Howard talking about it to his face. I think most people would just wanna disappear forever after doing something like that.
This is a really big psychological thing going on there. At first I was like WTF who douchebag would do that. But watching this interview, he's just a person that had/has deep social anxiety / emotional issues - like all of us. But his manifested in a strange way. He seems very honest here and trying to become a whole person. It's very interesting closer look to a fallen celeb personality, timely now with all these Louis CK and other guys with previously proper imagos but who have gotten caught with some dirty stuff
lol making bank? hes on a shit fxx show and has never/will never do anything else. this douche will be working at a mcdonalds in kansas city inside of two years. and i say that with no disrespect to mcdonalds workers.
Howard Stern has gained so much respect from me. He did a great job interviewing Steve without leading him with questions that would lead Steve toward an angry sound bite. Great job, Howard.
This man is a hero. He stopped the flight 93 hijacking. He escaped tower 2 and rescued everyone who was rescued from both towers. He also helped clean up at the pentagon that day. And then he valiantly lied about being there and then confessed only after being caught. True hero
i gotta admit, i didn't think there was _anything_ Rannazzisi could've said to make me _understand_ how/why he did this; but i think he's right about having only 15 seconds or so (4:40) to pull back on a lie before it's too late-even more so when the lie, intentionally or otherwise, invokes 9/11 sympathy.
Not sure how I ended up here, and even though I'd already heard this on the radio show, I watched the whole video. I just found his story about his lie so interesting, a credit to Howard's amazing interview skills.
The world of stand up is a fucked up one and a harsh one. It gave him an ice breaker that took down a barrier that is very hard to cross, but once it went too far, he was left with a big dilemma.
you sound like an idiot. The fact your gf would lie about an embarrassing thing is strange to you? So if you knew she pissed her pants but said she spilled juice on them, you'd find this odd? that alone makes you sound like a fucking moron. going along with a lie is "romantic"? it was her bf's career ..what else could she say? how is it weird that she wnt along with it?
He went very specific into his fake story in those interviews not too long ago. 54th floor, south tower, Meryl Lynch, etc. I don’t buy him saying that he only said he was there. He crafted that story.
Thank you thank you thank you for posting a full interview! I have felt like something was missing ever since the end of Howard TV. I would never stop subscribing to Sirius even if they posted interviews for free on UA-cam because I need all the Howard that 100 and 101 provides 24/7
This is utterly incredible! How dare you do this? This guy is something else....and by this guy I mean Howard Stern, for posting this long interview to UA-cam! Its incredible!
winKoneR - Music, it's not... They just don't give a shit about this interview. And there's so many duplicated old shows that they gave up on those. Im convinced that they might have thought that if people watched the old shows, they will listen to satellite. Some might have gotten a subscription. +winKoneR - Music Only Howards BF Ralph gets to see any Official Howard Cum-Backs.... God, they're gross. I hate how Howard tells everyone to "just come out, and be themselves" and this fucking guy has lived a lie his ENTIRE LIFE! He even married the newest Wu-Tang rap group Member, "The HorseFaced Killa" to make people think that He's straight. She's the only PUSH-OVER that will look the other way when Him and Ralph need their "Buddy Time"... Of course He had to get her some TV gigs too, lol.
Idk. I think he should have just finished his sentence: "I was scared". Saying he didn't know how to tell the public is probably what he told himself as an excuse to avoid having to face the consequences of his actions. And like anyone else, he avoided it because he was afraid.
I told everyone for years I could bench 390 and everyone started to buy it and I kept telling them this until a guy called me out and said let’s go the gym right now and if you can bench 390 you can take my wife home for the night. I benched 400
It's amazing how far Howard Stern has come as an interviewer. This comedian's story is painful, embarrassing, and brave. I'm sure that every person on here trashing him has made terrible mistakes in their lives that they would not have the introspection or courage to own up to on such a gigantic platform.
We all make mistakes, some of us lie to get a day off work, some of us maintain a manipulative, crafted story of being involved and deeply affected by an infamous tragedy for 15 years before being forced to admit it.
He explained how it started and got away from him and eventually became too hard to go back on. If you're still glaring at this guy like he's some terrible person then you're a bad judge of character. He's a decent guy who got caught up in a shitty lie.
agree totally. all he had to do is just not talk about it after he lied the first time. every time you're asked about it, simply say it's too upsetting to talk about and be done with it (who the fuck would pressure a 9/11 survivor to talk about their story if they say they don't want to). he did the opposite. several times over the years he discussed his fake story in DETAIL - that's the disturbing part. on marc maron's show, he went on and on. And remember, he didn't confess, he was busted, or about to be, that's why he did this apology tour. if not for the Times article., he'd still be going around telling his fake ass tales. Sick stuff. also totally likely that his tv show FORCED him to do Stern as a condition of keeping his job.
@@iiiisell I would have more respect for this man if he admitted to lying earlier, To outright even say that is despicable....3,000 people died that day, not just NYC ,but the Pentagon and western PA as well...
Such a bizarre thing to lie about. Everyone old enough to remember, knows exactly where they were that moment the twin towers were attacked. I was stuck in Las Vegas. I watched the towers fall on a crummy tv from our ruddy room at the Fitzgerald. I remember meeting a sweet older couple in the elevator that morning who told me they we’re anxiously waiting for their son to reach them since he worked in tower 1 on like the 100th floor. I think about that couple over the years wondering if their son made it out safely. They eventually rented a car to make the 2,000 mile drive back to NY in the hopes they would be reunited with their son 😢.
Since they kept the cameras (and TV staff) in the studio, why can't we see all of the interviews? Being able to see facial expressions and body language of both Howard and the guests adds so much more to the interviews! Please post more often.
Call me a sociopath, but sometimes when I feel down, I come back to this interview to watch a man's career collapse because of his own stupidity. It really cleanses my soul.

It’s no different than getting angry and doing something stupid. Codependents are trained to respond a certain way in social situations usually by abusers.

As someone who was actually in tower 2, I will never forgive him. The lost of all my coworkers and friends shouldn't be someone's free ride into Hollywood.
i hate hearing him say over and over this is not him and not what defines him. But it is him because he DID do this. He had no problem going public and bragging about what a hero he was, but couldn't figure out how to come clean in public....until he got caught? He is a horrible person and I'm sure he wants to "move on" but he told this lie for a long time and he doesn't get to decide it's not an issue anymore. I wasn't in NYC on 9/11 but I was in OKC on 4/19/95 at 9AM and this guy is like a one of those yahoos who walk around in uniform stealing valor from our honorable military veterans. I think Stern was very fair and appropriate in the way he did the interview.
I'm really curious what other lies he's told. If he told this enormous lie, there has to be more there. Not trying to beat the guy up anymore, I just believe there are many more lies.
***** Lol so he should have been like: WHOOPS, that was a lie - please now destroy my currently progressing career in comedy and allow me never to step foot in this field again!
***** Who the fuck even says this guy is a pathological liar? He lied about ONE thing that you know about - that doesn't even come close to the concept of a pathological liar! Moron.
+Trend101Warrior I do adore the way you baited him and then unleashed hell on him with all those amazing points to further drive home that opinion you have. Be honest with me you live for this and the bickering between people an the comments its empowering to think you have smashed someone right>? I bet you came back many times an edited the comment checking it over an over saying how dare he contest me an what i think. So what do you think should happen after all of this should he have his bank account stripped an then ran out of town or should we stone him>? I mean like you said he lied for personal gain and then had many chances to come clean yet ignored them an kept the lie going for many years.
It's always better to come clean and looking at what we've done wrong and trying to be a better person is what life is all about... He should forgive himself and move on!! It's awesome he came on Howard's show to talk about this.
He's not psychotic he just was desperate to get a go in the LA scene by using 9/11 as an ice breaker. It's a low thing to do but people are much more deceiving than that, esp. in Los Angeles
I haven’t seen too many people face the music like this guy. I don’t know much about him and I’m not 100% sure he’s genuine but I can’t think of many other interviews like this. His story is not implausible, but coming on with Howard Stern after being exposed takes balls.
I’ve never known him as the comedian from 9/11 and I don’t believe anyone else did either. I think he told the lie to few people in the beginning and then it spread to a few other people and yes, it got worse when he was asked about it on podcasts and by other interviewers and stuck to it but he was in defense mode in regards to his career. Yes it was it a bad thing to do but is it truly an unforgivable act.
I give this guy a lot of credit for what he did. There is a documentary called The Woman Who Wasn't There about the woman who made up being in the Twin Towers and was so deluded she became the board president of The Survivor's Network. That is a sick person. She is in hiding and refuses to talk to the media. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. This guy is all class in my book.

Why are some people treating him like a victim for lying about being a victim? Not many people are but I've seen some

+TV6469 we've all been there? you know people who've lied about surviving a national tragedy?

James R - but all his friends told him “you’re not that person”. Lol

Howard Stern is the best interviewer of all time! Makes you relax and spill your guts like no other!

Not sure how I ended up here, and even though I'd already heard this on the radio show, I watched the whole video. I just found his story about his lie so interesting, a credit to Howard's amazing interview skills.
What a strange story... the fact that his wife went along with it might be the weirdest part.
Very insecure people.
+JazGalaxy Actually if a girl loved someone enough she would actually force them to tell the truth.

No doubt 😂😂
AmethystEyes can’t find a clip of it. You guys should look into Robert Kennedy jr. and Sirhan Sirhan
AmethystEyes he crafted it yes but it all began by just saying that he was there
Thanks for uploading a longer video. Much appreciated.
Every time he says “but to be honest” I’m like, “yeah right bro” lol

Thank you, Howard Stern Show, for recording interviews. Please don't stop.
I mean, he’s not really taking full responsibility. He’s saying people asked and assumed he was there, and he just agreed and went along with it.
Thank you very much for posting this. I've missed watching Howard interview since the end of HowardTV, and the E! Show before that.
40 mins long video on official channel? please be this a first sign of howardTV comeback!

I guess not.
winKoneR - Music yeah right
The worst part is that if the times never found this out, the guy would STILL be flaunting the lie around today, yeesh
He says I didn't know what to do to tell everyone he lied.
He said " call a press conference "
" write a book "
Narcissistic as hell

Yes, the rabbi who said his brother-in-law 'died on 9-11', then it turns out the guy was hit by a car in Brooklyn.
Thank you for posting this video. I’ve been Stern-Free for 5 years and Howard is still the best
I love how great Howard is at interviewing!
Thanks for sharing HSS, Howard and Steve. I hope this video is a sign of more to come!

Clearly a pathology. Low self esteem causes him to lie in order to feel important.
Nice. Lets get more full interviews up. I've missed A LOT of Howard since June
"oh I meant 7/11"
I survived 9/11. I was at home in Canada...
He looks just like David Boreanaz the guy who played in the show "Angel" and in "Bones."

Really? You were up at 5:45am in a Las Vegas hotel watching a crummy tv? Interesting.

Hello everyone, I was a holocaust survivor and a few years before that my grandmother was a passenger on the Titanic and survived.
I now imagine being on Stern as closer to therapy than media promotion.
I'm surprised the whole interview is online. When was the last time that happened?

Who the fuck even says this guy is a pathological liar? He lied about ONE thing that you know about - that doesn't even come close to the concept of a pathological liar! Moron.
+ajnode and he lied about what college he went to. and he lied about... probably everything.
Howard is the best interviewer ever
Don’t trust what someone says “to be honest “. Everything after that is a lie
That’s not actually true but I get what your saying
This is awesome! Please upload interviews. I would even pay a small monthly fee for it.
I'm not a Howard fan with that said, Howard deserves props for handling this interview in a professional thorough manner.
How am I only finding out about this mess now. This is INSANE.
Howard would make a great Police interrogator
"You have fifteen seconds..." to admit a lie. How about Not Lying. Zero Seconds.
I’ve lied before to impress people too. We all have.
I respect his candidness. We all make mistakes buddy.
40 plus mins on there youtube channel damn awesome. been a fan of the Stern Show since 1997
I’ve never known him as the comedian from 9/11 and I don’t believe anyone else did either. I think he told the lie to few people in the beginning and then it spread to a few other people and yes, it got worse when he was asked about it on podcasts and by other interviewers and stuck to it but he was in defense mode in regards to his career. Yes it was it a bad thing to do but is it truly an unforgivable act.
This was an incredible interview. I feel for the guy and he seems 100% genuine in his apology. We’ve all lied and fucked up before.
