Good! Under $20 in used parts from fleabay(motion sensor for door, this relay and a smart plug). I will tuck it all into the j box with the outlet for the opener with the relay stubbing out on the side. To get the relay to trigger I created a smart lighting app automation with a zero minute power allowance for the plug to trigger the relay and it works great. Now to work on my other opener which use more than just a 2 wire bell button.

I know this is an old video but I found a work-around for the 3 second delay SmartApp. I couldn't find anything so I started trying and researching ways to work around it. Easiest way...set up an IFTTT that turns off the plug as soon as it turns on. With the cloud service + internet delay, it is almost exactly 3 seconds. Works great!

Very good video, I followed the directions and got the good results! I have one question though, how did u set up the smattering commands? I did something but it's not so good... Thank you and I whish I had come across this video before.
A word of caution: if your garage door opener is a liftmaster with Security 2.0+ then you will not be able to plug your relay to the back of the opener. Security 2.0+ encrypts the data sent between the wireless controls / wall button control to the opener. I had to solder a pair of wires to the back of the wall button and then connect the relay to those so that the relay would emulate someone pressing the button. It finally works for me.
I, like the others that have posted, am having issues finding the Garage Door Opener Script that you refer to in the video. Would you be able to post a link to it or post a short video on what you did to get it to work? Thanks!

Can you post a link for using ide to change the on/off of the smart plug?
Video got me started and very interested! However, the 3 second delay drove me crazy for a day or so but I made it work without it. Loaded the Device Handler and set up an "Automate Lights and Switches" SmartApp" for the Iris Smart Switch and the RIB works like a charm. I also did away with the additional electrical box. The RIB I have looks slightly bigger than the one in the video. Because if this I simply capped off the two unneeded wires and connected the power cord inside the RIB's enclosure, which worked perfectly. One neat litttle grey box is all I have attached to the ceiling.

Just buy and IRIS garage door controller from Lowe's; so much easier!
