Dude, you say you're not a pro but I'll tell you what your production values are certainly pro level. Thanks for all the explanation and attention to detail. Really helps. You're good.
I have been practicing my bears using a dremel on an old broom handle cut them into 4" pieces not a lot of meat on them haha, so just got a 6" seyvum cordless chainsaw ( I live in the suburbs) I found this video to be one of the best in learning how to chainsaw a bear, I have some drift wood, live near a beach which is handy lots of nice pieces float ashore, so wish me luck lol, subd ty for this video perfect timing!
The very first thing I took note of was the jawhorse, I've been carving with a plywood base screwed into the log for stability, but that jawhorse looks much more practical and handy. Very nice work, thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge!
Thank you for TEACHING - and not using a 4000lb log and 75 different chain saws and a million dollars worth of specialty tools. I am just starting and am at Level 1. The Big Timers are amazing but I need a teacher/mentor to get me rolling. I look forward to seeing more "How To" videos. Jordy has me carving with the Dremel
Hey Kyle! Not long at all, thank you for spending the time to do this. If we don't get snow this weekend I'll be outside following this video! Thanks again be well, Sonny
Very informative, thank you. I have easier access to logs this size, so it helps a lot. Just one thing, bears have 5 forward fingers/claws, which might be difficult on these "slim" bears, but totally doable on bigger ones
Hey Kyle, jordy guided me to your channel and boy am I glad to subscribe.😊you are an awesome carver. Thank you and I'm sure will get to learn a lot from you. Best wishes.
Hi Kyle, I love the video. I just subscribed to your channel. I appreciate the great commentary. It makes it much easier for us newbies. I would love to see more of these step by step type of videos. They are very helpful. Keep up the great work !!!
Jimmy D Thanks for the Sub ! I have several step by step videos on here be sure to check them out . I haven’t put any new up due to being swamped with orders ! I plan to ya e some new videos up soon , some more how to videos and custom orders . Thanks for watching
Hi Kyle! ... just discovered your channel ... great job on this instructional video! ... It will definitely help new carvers like myself! ... Thank You!
Kyle love the video, keep going back and watching it over again. I was wondering do you think a 120 nylon flex wheel would be ok to use to do the final sand?
Great job explaining the process. I am a beginner. I will be practicing your technique/ steps doing small bears. If you have other videos for other figures I will try them also.. By the way, what type /size chain do you use on your 14 inch sthil? George
Hey Kyle. This may be a stupid question, but can this same process be used on a larger scale to create a larger bear or do larger bears require a different approach.

Just gotta practice George you’ll get there .
@@KyleHallwoodworker Want to send a picture of bear. How do I get it to you?
Hey George Tucker . You can send a pic through my Facebook business page link below the video or Instagram

clintoncarved Thank you and your welcome! I plan to make a few more like this in the future.
I sure hope to see more in the near future! ... maybe an owl tutorial? ... check my page on fb when you have the time! ... thanks again!
clintoncarved an owl is a possibility I’m still perfecting mine but I could make a video . Sure thinking I will look your page up .
clintoncarved following you on Facebook 👍🏻
thanks Kyle! ... look forward to more vids ... truly enjoy watching art being created!
Watched to see the way you carve legs again. Have trouble getting them even.
Just started chainsaw carving and I’m hooked. I now need to buy a decent saw and I’m looking at a battery one. Any recommendations?
I like my msa 160 for detail work with a dime tip bar and my msa 200 for small blocking on small carvings
Did larger bear #2. Legs need work.
Great video I think it will help me a lot I've been struggling on how to start the ears with out making them look dumb. Thank you for the help
Travis Ashcraft awesome I hope so . Be safe
Wow I'm impressed! Can yellow pine be used for chainsaw carvings?
Yes. I carve yellow pine the most !
Kyle love the video, keep going back and watching it over again. I was wondering do you think a 120 nylon flex wheel would be ok to use to do the final sand?
Thanks !
I don’t think it will sand right . The sand o flex seems to work best in my opinion
I should say I do not have enough experience with the nylon wheel
Very good - keep cutting!!!!
Great job explaining the process. I am a beginner. I will be practicing your technique/ steps doing small bears. If you have other videos for other figures I will try them also.. By the way, what type /size chain do you use on your 14 inch sthil? George
Interesting, I'll keep on watching this video over before I give it a go, thanks
Can you show how the piece cracks after it dries, using the back cut method... like the bear you just did?
I will have to carve one up and let it sit . I do not currently have any on hand
Hey Kyle. This may be a stupid question, but can this same process be used on a larger scale to create a larger bear or do larger bears require a different approach.
Jimmy D This is the same basic process I use for larger bears . The only bad question is the one that’s never asked .
Brilliant! Thank you so much. I’m going to have a go!
Good luck and be safe
He's cute
really gd work
Thank you
Nice vid. New sub and like. Just ordered a jaw horse.
Troy Tucker thanks ! Remember your safety gear and make some sawdust!
