I think I watched this video about 12 times now and, It's helped me out alot just studying the moves of the saw , and cuts , very helpful for sure , trying to figure out my furing , and head cuts , my body is looking better every time I carve out a new bear 🐻 , watching closely how you are carving , ❤ Great stuff Ryan , 👍😊
I just started with a dremel and I'm addicted.. I told my husband that chainsaw carving was next on my list to learn and he said "Good Luck" sarcastically :( now I'm going to practice and become AMAZING.. Thank you for all of your videos.!!!
Finishing my third bear- age 63. They take 6-8 hours. Each greatly improves, which is encouraging. My commitment is to do ten in a row, then decide if this will be more than a hobby. At the least, i will have invested myself (& money) enough to maje great gifts fir family and friends. Everyone i know already wants one! Thx for the step by step.
I'm a Canadian too..lol Live in Ontario.. started small carvings now on big projects all from watching your videos..awesome work buddy..I'm a licensed mechanic and antique car builder ..but wanted to learn something else, you helped greatly thanks bro
Great video! I just did my first carving a couple weeks ago of an eagle and want to do a bear next. Guys like you sure help guys like me learn this stuff. Thanks for all the great videos!
thanks so much it takes time .. just have fun an carve then finish and do it again .. for me to not get bored every time i try to make it better with maybe something i try to improve
I’ve carved more with a Dremel than with a saw, but have been using saws for about a year longer. I also put more work on 1 area in particular on each carving since I’ve started. I enjoy watching you carve, keep it up. 👍🏽👍🏽
I've watched this video at least 25 times and I've started carving one of my own. Just today I realized the bear's right leg was still square and not rounded. LOL Great tutorial to learn by watching. Thanks much!
Thank you for your videos. Just did my first bear last week and started another today. Having fun and glad I can follow along and learn from you. Thanks from AZ.
Just watched Jordy and you carve woodspirits climbing out of stumps you found on the beach. I've subscribed to see what you do and try to learn new things(every day is a school day, even at 58yrs) . Brilliant work you do,we have chainsaw carvings around here (west Scotland, ayrshire coast.little village/town,last viking battle on mainland Britain fought here 1262 AD.called Largs ) but some of yours are way in advance of them. Thanks for sharing your many talents.
I just love the little chain saws they are so cute. And man did they ever name that sander right . The finger sander. Best little coterizer around.one darn cute lil bear.
This party is just starting. If you have anything u want to see that I can do let me know. I can’t promise it. Because I have to follow my calendar if what’s booked but if something you’re looking for is something I’m able to do and interested in happy too
Dude don’t even stress it takes time. Enjoy the process. My advice take you’re time. And try to memorize the cuts of speed is what you want to accomplish. But if you’re just learning enjoy the process and also don’t just spend forever on it. Get one done then right into the next one. That helps with muscle memory
Dam good video!...learned so much in that 20 minutes ...i was a lil nervous to try n carve something like that cause i just dont wanna waste the lumber ...but after watching that i got way more confidence ....thanks bro! keep it up!
This is the first ever comment I have ever made period. But I had to thank you for the inspiration and courage to finally try carving....I am totally hooked...thank you and keep up the great work and attitude. Cheers Tom
I have a buddy who does chainsaw carvings. He did a huge lion head. Super cool. I'm about to go buy a chainsaw and start doing this myself. Can't wait. Any suggestions on what kind and size of chainsaw to buy for a beginner?
Hi thanks for be handsome and share your knows. Here in France it's so hard to find some carving learning. So i think you are helping all around the world :D
Very cool thanks man. I carve all kind of stuff but I haven't carved Bears yet. My neighbor cars bears. Kind of leaving them out. Thought it was kind of his niche. He started copying my bird houses. I'm going to carve bears. Lol
Rhyno on the saw, man ~ Rhyno power! ~ good fun, and editing by the way~ ~ you live in a blessed 'money belt' ~ not a bad bear but around these parts be lucky to snag half of your low quote, can say with some certainty. ~~ 25 years in on the bear carves and sticking out a much more detailed bear of about that size for the public gaze, they shrink away from those prices you mention like a worm with salt chucked on it. When a customer sidles up with a bear in mind ound these parts you gotta do a cute Irish jig and tell 3 funny jokes whilst spinning a plate on a stick to get a 65 dollar bill outta of 'em. And even then maybe not.
Wow thats Quick, thanks for all your videos.I started selling some bears, i have problems with placing the eyes do you any tricks you could share Thanks
I make sure to plant them even i do one then step back and look do a test like and check to make sure they are balanced .. it takes time.. until u get comfortable maybe get a set of calipers
Haha that’s the problem I run into also cause I know 20 mins of a saw would just be to much. But trying to pick a music that will not annoy ppl is the biggest challenge
@@RyanCookCarvin I vote for the saw sound. There is something about hearing the rev during the cuts. Thanks for the great video. You put something together that so much more helpful than many videos I have watched!! Planning on trying chainsaw carving soon....tired of using a dremel to carve bears....takes forever. I know nothing about using or maintaining a chainsaw....and would love to see that online.
Fantastic video and amazing bear! I just have 1 question, what rpm are you running your dremel 4300 at? I started carving about a year ago and some tools I still don't have, but the dremel 4300 is one I do have, including the cone tip cutter.... Just don't know the RPM to run at??
Hey Ryan great video and great job man! I live in Maine, Hancock to be exact. Mr. Murphy the chainsaw artist in my town was on Ripley's Believe it or Not years ago for carving the alphabet in a pencil with a chainsaw! He makes stuff just like you! and we got an abundance of Pine, Spruce, Cedar, Oak, Maple, White Birch. What's the best kind of wood to use?
Hey Ryan any idea why my saw just poops out when trying to do any sort of scoop cut. I must be doing something wrong technique wise. It just wants to stay at the angle it enters.

Just wondering if the little carving chainsaws jump as much as the big ones?!
I don’t like the big ones when they jump.
