James Hetfield’s parents were deeply religious and didn’t allow him to express himself or have his own thoughts or opinions, basically repressed him. He lost them early in his life and he didn’t feel capable of being out in the real world because he had never experienced it being sheltered by his parents and their religion. One of the few if not only song that is pure anger by James. The whole album is very deep and has so much meaning. Great music and great lyrics.
Living in Panama the first time that I started listening to this album in 1988 I was blown away, but the song Dyer's Eve was so fast, loud, double bass drumming, and the most aggressive thrash metal song to put on And Justice For all album gracias Dana's Faith🇵🇦🇺🇸🎸🎤💿
saludos desde Chiriquí
Metallica has been and always will be my number one favorite metal band. They really know how to let the music speak and they write with pure raw emotion. Very much enjoyed this!!
It's definitely a powerful, emotional song and deeply personal for James. Everything about it is filled with pain and rage. It's arguably the thrashiest song on Justice. It's hilarious seeing you two headbang at halftime. But you're young, you'll get there!
LOL!!!
This fucking song is definitely one of my faves the instruments vocals aggresivnes its fucking amazing
This album was very personal for Metallica. Since it the 1st one they did after bassest cliff Burton died . And yes they had a lot of frustration and anger .
Still blows me away today after hearing it a million times how transcendent the songwriting on ...And Justice and Master/Puppets is. Two of the most important and incredible albums in modern music history.
Metal Week - more metal, less me. I am waiting for that expansion into other kinds of music that you all have mentioned.
Metallica siempre es bueno chicas , las quiero y les mando un abrazo desde Buenos Aires.
Love this song. It reminds me of their earlier stuff, but better produced. I saw them live back in the 90s. Great show. I think G&R opened for them.
Now I have to go hit the heavy bag for awhile! Anything off garage days revisted, nice reaction ladies !
React to whiskey in a jar the cover. Good stuff
There's many people like he sings. Including me. Love this piece, because they're saying out loud the pains of many...
Im parrent myself and I see how misunderstanding for children passes from generation to generation. I'm happy for you to have better experience. ❤️
You guys should Really Really Really REALLY should check out To Live Is To Die! Off same album very powerful song played and written in Memory of Cliff Burt/Original Bassist.
I am so happy for you young ladies going to see Metallica live, I saw them on their Master of Puppets tour. I know you will absolutely enjoy yourselves and can’t wait to hear your reaction about your experience. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
u can see why its head banging music , by the time u tried to move anything else it would already be over so there goes the head , i went home with a sore neck for a week after concerts like this one ...
you should definetely react to more songs from this album , every song has such a strong message
Great reaction. You two nailed it.
A favorite of mine. The anger and rage in the lyrics and music are so powerful.
Two all time favorite lyrics of mine,
"No guarantee, it's life as is" and "Ripping wounds in me that never heal."
The song is based on James Hetfield's younger years. His parents were Christian scientists and didn't believe in science. His father left them and his mother died of cancer. Due to her religious believes, she refused medical treatment. So as a teenager, James had to slowly watch his mom die of cancer.
That's the short version. Anyone feel free to add more details.
Welcome back! Nice reaction!
There is a lyric in the song Blackened.
"Deadly nicotine. Kills what might have been". This is a reference to James' mom, who died of lung cancer from smoking.
Hi guys!!! Love this song so much!!! Powerful lyrics and music!!! Hugs lysm ladies , keep rocking!!! 🤘🏻
My favorite Metallica song- really should be heard after listening first to live is to die but oh well! So fast, so angry, so Damn good! When I played football in HS and college and This was the last song I listened to before taking the field- I was ready to do battle after listening at full blast on cassette through my Sony walkman! 🤣 Keep the great Metallica reactions coming! 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
LOL! Cassettes and Sony Walkman. Good times!
I’m feeling blue !!
Love Metallica week, and of course y'all's reaction. Have a blast at the show.
I bought this Album when it came out...yes way back then.
My favorite track off Justice! 🤘
I love you both, you're awesome...... yeaaaaaaaaaaah !!!!!
This is one of my favorites of Metallica. Very aggressive and angry and yet sad at the same time.
Such a powerful album that no band can touch..it's still stands with me since High School..plus the live concerts that I've seen since... Metallica was the first metal band I saw in 1989..And Justice for All TOUR 😊
Great band, great album, great song, GREAT REACTION 🤘🐵🤘
Girls! Please react to the song giving name to this album...And Justice for All. You're gonna love it!
YEE GIRLS 😍 there's an age restriction on this song. Nobody over the age of 13 and nobody under the age of 13. So you're both in trouble.. LOL 🤣🤣 so not even Jack
Not too long and you'll be seeing them live! Enjoy and take care :)
As I do not really follow Metallica I am pretty much in the same boat as you, hearing it for the first time. Yet another powerful track, with a wealth of emotion bubbling up from within. Like you I had decent parents so cannot fully relate, but can understand the situation and the frustrations of it.
simon did your parents like birds? or was that just you with all that bird anger deep down inside ? im kidding. . fly to america in october. theres a huge rock festival.
The more you learn about the meaning of a song, you start to think, keep it up, the world is an interesting place
You girls should react to Disposable Heroes this is another great one !
🔥
Mia is fully metal.
Please, do some reaction of Therion, the father of symphonic metal
Please. Document all the Metallica experience this Friday!
On point on the emotions on this song. But musically awesome.
👏🤘❤🔥 buena reaccion
The whole and justice for all album is an emotional album they were in mourning over the death of Cliff Burton
The last Great Metallica album and the end of an era!
Now I'm mad too!
they were angry cause there parents took all there oreos
If you can get close to the stage and flash a sign saying
RØDGRØD MED FLØDE!
I'm sure it will put a big grin on Lars' face.
In Danish it tranlates to "red (berry) compot with sweet cream" and it's the ultimate tongue-twister phrase for non-danes. Lars will most certainly not expect this in California.
Have great fun at the concert, and as usual: Don't forget your ear plugs.
Well said girls
Used to rage to this when my parents took away my skateboard for bad grades
You all are so cute!!
Love you ladies become tô Metallica again!!!!! \m/
James Hetfield was raised by christian science believers... strict upbringing... abuse... physical punishments... His father left the family as a boy and left him w/ abandonment issues - it was worsened when his mom died from cancer after refusing treatment for her beliefs, while he was a teen. James recalled as a kid, he couldn't make friends w/ kids his school cos he was barred from health class (they called him a 'freak' as a result...)
I remember hearing this song at 15, thinking, "Why was he so angry at his parents?"
At 27, I knew exactly why... I was going thru the same abuse, alienation, strict punishments... as a kid.
Hope you’re having a amazing day
Metallica good 🖤
Definitely one of Metallica's best songs.

Everybody needs to remember that this tracknwas the end of the Justice album, and they never went backnto pure trash ever again... So this one was really the end of an era, it's so personal and sad to james and become sad to every fan after the folowing years

Do they dare play this live anymore?
Hell no lol.... Imagine Lars trying to keep up with this. God only knows what they had to do to get this studio take 😂
react to johnny goth
The last true Thrash metal song Metallica wrote, then came the Black album
this song is about his parents having him believe and follow the religion their parents did. James hated it
This was good Metallica! The albums after the Black Album are crap for the most part
Tell their accountants that. LOL!!
Why don't two girls get themselves a copy of Diocletian's 'Gesundrian' an react to some real metal for a change. Metallica died when Burton died. Stop beating a dead horse.
