Gilmour once again with the talk box - right after you did "Keep Talking" - SWEET. He is by far the master of the guitar - he doesn't just plug into an amp, he plugs into your mind and soul.
Yeah, Pink Floyd is in another realm unto themselves. Their music appeals to most people across genre's and that's pretty rare. This is my favorite album by them. The music, the lyrics, the whole concept.
Whitehouse in the lyrics isnt the president's house lol but refers to Mary Whitehouse who was a "moral majority" type campaigner here in the UK in the 70s and 80s. As a funny aside some company here back then named a porn magazine Whitehouse just to piss her off lol
Those pig sounds were created by using a talk box in which Gilmore uses his voice in conjunction with his guitar which the talk box incorporates both at the same time. The voice is transferred through a plastic tube lightly held in the mouth into the talk box which can be distorted via foot pedals and the guitar at the same time. That's also where the super distortion is heard in the middle of the song as well because it's his voice you hear in conjunction with his guitar and whatever foot pedals he's also using.

Growing up in Cleveland I got to see the top bands in the world I saw Pink Floyd in '77 on the animals tour at the world series of Rock fantastic concert like your reactions keep on rockin'

This entire album is my favorite of theirs. It’s not a great starting point, you need to get into the right headspace of Pink Floyd, as you’ve done.
You like the animal sounds. Well then, you might want to check out a song where Roger makes the animal sounds. No one knows what the animals are because they only exist in Roger's head. From the album Umma Gumma the song is titled, " Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave Groovin' With A Pict."

Yup, Pink Floyd is on another level altogether! And yes, Pink Floyd is a very patience band, they let their music breath.
Gilmour is the same way, letting notes breath and bloom, he has an uncanny way of knowing when to pause. It adds a dimension and affect to the compositions that otherwise may not be there.
Another unique thing about their music, they have sooo many layers to their songs, every song, they are the masters of sonic experimentation, like no other band.
Every Pink Floyd song is an experience, like a movie, they don't just play their songs, they perform them.
"Every Pink Floyd song"... until The Wall (included). But after that, it became a "zombie band"... For sure they are pro and not bad musician, but they never reach "that" level again after The Wall. It was a Cosmos alchemy between the members of the Band. As Good as David is, he's never reach what they did with Waters... And the reverse is the same.

Now, do yourself a favor and find (it’s on UA-cam) bassist Roger Waters’ (who wrote it) performance of this from his 2016 World Tour from Mexico City. It’s both insane with it’s imagery of (it’s a surprise so no spoiler) a famous public figure, flying pigs and a flawless performance that’s in keeping with the Top Shelf shows Floyd have always been known for. Any fan will tell you. Regards 🤘😎
It's hard to believe but this album was not well received at the time. they had an amazing run of albums '71-Meddle, '72-Obscured by Clouds, '73 Dark Side,'75 Wish you were Here....and in '77 Animals. There was a lot of rejection over this album , including the lyrics. YIKES.........listening to this album today.it's hard not to think of it as one of their best .................music and lyrics and concept to boot...........Peace and love
