Came out in 1991 - this was part of the Seattle Grunge scene along with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and others. I came across Nirvana because they were the biggest band in the world in the early 90s. Seattles band took over and dominated radio and MTV. This song and band were unavoidable. For the next Nirvana song maybe try Lithium or In Bloom

This song changed rock - from 80’s hair bands to grunge. The drummer is a very young Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters. Kurt Cobain was the lead singer and songwriter. He died at age 27 from suicide. He had depression and chronic pain.
Checking out the lyrics will give you additional insights to the song. 😊

I remember when it came out. My baby girl was learning to talk, & this was the first song she picked up on, lol. It will forever her song.
Glad you liked it. Try some more Seattle bands while you're at it 💖

Great tune from the grunge era. So many great tunes from this band that was sadly short lived. But still a banger 'till this day. Great to see yoi expanding your reactions. Much love &respect ❣P.s. Congrats on 2000, may there be many more!!!

I first heard this song when a punk girl and fellow high-school freak who I was skipping gym class with passed me her walkman (yes, it's THAT old) with a mix tape that had some Nirvana on it and told me, "Listen to this right now - it'll blow your mind." My mind was blown.
Not even 4 yrs. later, the brilliant and deeply troubled Kurt Cobain was dead, and my pals and I had our own memorial for him in a local cemetery.
As for other songs, I love About A Girl, Heart Shaped Box, In Bloom, and a song that my first girlfriend and I joked should have been our theme, Negative Creep. Plus, Nirvana's unplugged cover of David Bowie's The Man Who Sold The World is brilliant. Really, everything they did was brilliant. RIP Kurt.

God I love nirvana!! It sucks that Kurt Cobain left this world so soon as of suicide in 1994. Other great songs of theirs are 1) heart shaped box 2) dumb 3) where did you sleep last night

Nirvana is not a high school band. Nirvana started the Grunge sound in the 1990’s. During MTV generation.
Lead singer Kurt Cobain shot himself in 1994. It was suicide. It was devastating to all the fans who worshipped Kurt and his messages from his songs. I was an adult in the 90’s and worshipped them. When I heard on the news that Kurt killed himself, it was a great shock.
R.I.P. Kurt and thank you for your music.

This hit when I was 13. I was totally one of the grunge teens in those mosh pits in the early 90s--including seeing Nirvana :)
If you want to try some of the noisier Nirvana songs, I recommend: "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter," "Scentless Apprentice," or "Endless, Nameless."
For other options: "Lithium," "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" (cover of Leadbelly), "In Bloom," "Love Buzz," "Negative Creep."

I saw Nirvana in concert. The year was 1993. Best concert ever. They don't make music like this now a days. You younger generation I feel sorry for. You guys will never get to experience the freedom and music that came from back in my day. The air was filled with electricity back then. Nobody sat at home on the computer or glued to a cell phone. We went out in the world and had adventures and a kind of fun you guys have been robbed of. I wish I could go back in time. I was rarely home back then. Going to see a Nirvana concert on the weekend was a normal thing for me to do. I have experienced so much in my life. I wouldn't trade the good times for anything.

Actually - try this one next. It's a live performance of Breed from Seattle in 1993. Legendary: ua-cam.com/video/xdTa6BiGXO0/v-deo.html
