Cool reaction to one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. If heaven exists , those chords Rick Wright plays on the first part will be what you hear as you enter. Parts VI - IX is the last track on the album , and astonishingly good also. In fact the entire album is a masterpiece.
I really enjoy watching you guys goofing around, lol.. This is absolutely one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs... I was in my 20's when they were a brand new band, and they blew our minds...enjoy the vibe!
Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold.
For those who do not know where the name “Pink Floyd” came from…… Syd Barrett - original founder of the band had two favorite Blues Guitar Players in his record collection, two black men, Pinkney “Pink” Anderson and Floyd Council. One came from North Carolina, (Floyd) the other came from South Carolina, (Pink).
There is this video from the streets of Jerusalem with 2 rabbi guys playing this with a crowd. 1 acoustic & 1 electric guitar. This song is about Syd Barrett. First guitarist for Pink Floyd.
Pink Floyd really is speaking to people in a universal language that is music...I mean we all can relate and understand what it's telling us. It's reframing perception with every note and re-expanding it with every silence.
The end of Parts one through five Shine On You Crazy Diamond Segways very smoothly right into a very futuristic sounding song even by today's standards called "Welcome to the Machine"! And it still sounds futuristic even though it was made in 1975 so I'm fairly sure Pink Floyd members are either from the future or a planet other than Earth!! You should listen to "Welcome to the Machine" but make sure you listen with headphones and put on a seat belt!!
In the day, we would twist one then cue up the vinyl and light up. The building of the song would contribute to the anticipation of the high. By the time the lyrics start we were in full flight. By the time the saxophone solos start …. Uh what were we talking about….

A perfectly assembled malt! I wouldn't change a note. It shoots me to the dark side of the moon every time. And the lyrics - my God - that's so sad. The best thing Pink Floyd ever did... R.I.P. Rick. More about the album cover photo: The cover was created by Studio Hipgnosis and the photo was taken at Warner Bros. film studios in California. However, the album was sold in a black shrink wrap that had the logo of two mechanical hands involved in a handshake.

I'd love to see your reaction to a bunch more Pink Floyd, because this was great. If you want more of that powerful mind experience achieved through music, you should also check out the band Tool - from them I would recommend starting with The Pot, because it's one of their few songs in which the beat is like a cruisy drive rather than a rollercoaster. But if you want to go zero-to-one-hundred, go for Tool - Lateralus and buckle up.
You might wanna check out their song called Echoes, but Live from Gdansk. I think the video is called "last performance with Richard Wright" or something similar. It has a similar meditation vibe.
@@SimplyTwoDudes 👍🏼 Syd Barrett was the founder of the band. David Gilmour replaced him on guitar, although they did play as a 5 member band for a short while. David & Syd were very good friends and he made sure Syd got all of his royalties until he passed away.
Roger Waters of Pink Floyd is touring right now. Go see him. Guaranteed to blow your mind. He does the 2nd half of this song live. I'm going to the Portland and Tacoma shows.

Guy's, please react to the live version of On The Turning Away...that will take you to new places.
I agree, but also the official video? with the amazing artists rendering of actual L.A. homeless 'characters' into claymation? video shot on the streets of LA. Both are a must imo.
Man! You guys are really hitting it hard, In the best way!
ECHOES - studio version!
The guy with the white headphones has the attention span of a gnat...
Said the guy who can’t even remember my name 🤦🏽♂️. My name is Andy (Guy w/ the white headphones) it’s mentioned at the beginning of the video, but you’re probably right roflmao! We appreciate the comment fam! 😬😂🤣🙌🏽🔥♥️
But if you want to go zero-to-one-hundred, go for Tool - Lateralus and buckle up.
might as well do the whole album. you wont be disappointed.
You might wanna check out their song called Echoes, but Live from Gdansk. I think the video is called "last performance with Richard Wright" or something similar. It has a similar meditation vibe.
Watching you guys reminds me of Cheech & Chong. Love it !
Lmao except the sober version
Hello from England 🏴 can you please do a reaction to the pulse live version also wish you were here ♥ ✌

Welcome to the family Rah bear! We appreciate the love & support fam! 😬🙌🏽🔥❤️

Btw, when I went to the concert, it felt like they should be giving shrooms at the door. Idk if they did, I had my own. ❤️❤️✌️
Now you should try something from 1977 album "Animals" .Dogs is my choice🎵
MacDonalds will hire you tomorrow

Thanks for Clarifying it for us Lynn! ♥️
@@SimplyTwoDudes 👍🏼 Syd Barrett was the founder of the band. David Gilmour replaced him on guitar, although they did play as a 5 member band for a short while. David & Syd were very good friends and he made sure Syd got all of his royalties until he passed away.
You do know when that is
🤷🏻♂️
I was young ... and high for the first time. This shit did a show on me.. felt like id seen GOD or something
What if I told you that Parts VI-IX is even better? :-)
I’d say “ There’s more parts!?!?!” & then rightfully react to it lol!
Roger Waters of Pink Floyd is touring right now. Go see him. Guaranteed to blow your mind. He does the 2nd half of this song live. I'm going to the Portland and Tacoma shows.
