The common theme I see with the battle themes seems to be four parts to the themes: the initial shock of battle, the rising action, midst of fighting and action, and last part has this more flowing sound with a somewhat heroic feel to it, like it's saying "we got this guys".
Hearing Final Fantasy X is so nostalgic for me. I remember when my older brother would play it on the PS2. That was like ten years ago. Man how time passes by. Anyways great renditions if the pieces.
Hearing the battle themes from FF1 to FF6 gave me such a nostalgia rush and reminded me how much I love those games and its OST. Uematsu truly manages to give you pretty engaging and catchy battle tunes without going overly exaggerated with the instruments (something that happens in some newer RPGs where the battle tunes try to sound so epic but end up quite overwhelming and sometimes unnecesarily complex).
I expected to read some comments bitching about minor timing issues here and there... im glad that I was wrong, and see nothing but praise and amazement at this wonderful talent. You did a fantastic job, sir, and Nobou would be proud. Play on, brother. Play on!
I mean its his adaptation to the music. Considering he took the time to learn all of these songs he can change things up a bit if he would like to. ^_^

@@ElDouggler as someone who enjoys playing the piano recreationally I find playing music to your own tune to be quite enjoyable. Of course any pianist who plays technical piece may want someone to stick to the original artists creation. But, I think Mr Uematsu can speak for himself and would applaud anyone for taking the time and effort it took to learn how to play this song and make changes. But thats just my opinion of the matter. ^_^
FF9 is one of my favourite games of all time but I can really hear the similarities in FF1 and 2. You did a phenomenal job in merging them all together and brining back nostalgic memories from playing those games and also giving me motivation to keep learning the the piano. Absolutely amazing. Thank you for putting this together so seamlessly few could of done it so well.

Everytime i hear a game music compilation no matter how many i hear it that theme grabs me by the balls each time! Y smile from ear to ear its such an energic theme!
The Ff2 battle theme was pretty epic. I can't imagine how hard that must have been to play. I also really like how quickly you switched from game to game. Uless that was some clever editing I can't imagine that was easy.
Absolutely fantastic playing! I also love the way you edited all the songs together into a seamless play. Playing like this reveals the hidden talent in musicians, and hidden classics in games.

Maybe Other World would be cool too but i dont think its possible to play on piano because its all about vocals and the rammstein like band music. :O

I learned and played this insane medley in one evening (you can watch the change of daylight in the window!) - I totally cheated and recorded each track separately and stitched together in post. Note that FFX is the daylight of the next day. You can also see that my sleeves length constantly changes 😅 Not my best production, but hey...the peoples seem to love it!

Thanks dang579! I actually learned, memorized, & recorded this entire medley in one day! I tried to transcribe it all to the best of my ability, but there are undoubtedly a few little mistakes here and there due to the speed of the session. I'm glad you enjoy it! :)

Ha, thanks! I've been developing this skill for 17 years :) Nope, no sheet music - transcribing = accurately reducing the orchestral version to piano. Arranging = creating my own version. So I technically do both! And yep, all by ear! Sometimes I'll use sheet music from others as a rough guide (to more quickly find the notes on tougher sections), but I always use my ears!
VI is so nostalgic for me. I just remember watching my grandma play it for hours and hours on the SNES in the livingroom in my tiny Simba chair. For whatever reason I loved walking around as Mog in Zozo and I always insisted on killing Cid. Great job, dude!

willnicholson18 FFX is my second favorite FF game. I remember how much FF7 blew me away when I played it, and the second I played FFX I had that same exact feeling again! FFX was incredible for its time as well. I heard they are making a FFX-3!

Memory Manipulator Namine I do this for all my vids :) Even though I can read sheet music (classically-trained pianist + I’m a composer), I prefer to figure out all my music by ear. Only recently have I started arranging on sheet music first then recording - I’ve found that my arrangement ARE better when I take the time to notate first though. I try to improve every vid! I’ve come a long way since this ol’ FF medley.

Those are my Top 3 favorite FF games of all time (: they both really blew me away the first time I played them, not to mention the soundtracks for all 3 were beautifully orchestrated.

I love how the FF9 isn't just going back to series roots in character and enemy design but also musically.

Memory Manipulator Namine I do this for all my vids :) Even though I can read sheet music (classically-trained pianist + I’m a composer), I prefer to figure out all my music by ear. Only recently have I started arranging on sheet music first then recording - I’ve found that my arrangement ARE better when I take the time to notate first though. I try to improve every vid! I’ve come a long way since this ol’ FF medley.

Megaboss557 this keyboard came with a sheet music stand, but I lost it years before this video (2012ish). Sooo I got creative...
FF7 was just an outstanding game from start to finish. Not just for the battle music, but it doesn't get old ever no matter how many times you hear it. Great job on the piano.

i ABSOLUTELY love how you do not skip any notes neither any accord and how you dont play extended personal touches on the songs you played ( i played this serie like crazy so my ears got an audio memory of each song) and my ears were VERY pleased hearing you play! ... oops i just noticed your video is from 2013 so im late! still its never too late to compliment someone about their good work!! :D

Those are my Top 3 favorite FF games of all time (: they both really blew me away the first time I played them, not to mention the soundtracks for all 3 were beautifully orchestrated.
