The common theme I see with the battle themes seems to be four parts to the themes: the initial shock of battle, the rising action, midst of fighting and action, and last part has this more flowing sound with a somewhat heroic feel to it, like it's saying "we got this guys".

Of course any pianist who plays technical piece may want someone to stick to the original artists creation. But, I think Mr Uematsu can speak for himself and would applaud anyone for taking the time and effort it took to learn how to play this song and make changes. But thats just my opinion of the matter. ^_^
Hearing the battle themes from FF1 to FF6 gave me such a nostalgia rush and reminded me how much I love those games and its OST. Uematsu truly manages to give you pretty engaging and catchy battle tunes without going overly exaggerated with the instruments (something that happens in some newer RPGs where the battle tunes try to sound so epic but end up quite overwhelming and sometimes unnecesarily complex).
+DJmisterpeluca I wouldnt want to decide that. ^^ I think every boss battle track in final fantasy is great. But if i had to choose i would go at least for J.E.N.O.V.A and Fight on! Maybe Other World would be cool too but i dont think its possible to play on piano because its all about vocals and the rammstein like band music. :O
The Ff2 battle theme was pretty epic. I can't imagine how hard that must have been to play. I also really like how quickly you switched from game to game. Uless that was some clever editing I can't imagine that was easy.
FF9 is one of my favourite games of all time but I can really hear the similarities in FF1 and 2. You did a phenomenal job in merging them all together and brining back nostalgic memories from playing those games and also giving me motivation to keep learning the the piano. Absolutely amazing. Thank you for putting this together so seamlessly few could of done it so well.
Hearing Final Fantasy X is so nostalgic for me. I remember when my older brother would play it on the PS2. That was like ten years ago. Man how time passes by. Anyways great renditions if the pieces.

All themes from FF I-VI sound alike, as if each one is a subtle extension of the previous. Then VII and VIII are their own thing. But FF IX goes back to its roots, which is appropriate considering the game's theme is the same medieval fantasy of all those first six games.

I know this might be the most unpopular opinion about ff games, but there's just something about ffviii' s battle theme that just makes me smile like nothing else. The moment I heard it I was all smiles. Same goes for ffx's but I guess having spent nearly 1000hours playing it multiple times makes me a bit biased. Man I would love to hear a a updated version with the new FF's too, this was so amazing !

Ha, thanks! I've been developing this skill for 17 years :) Nope, no sheet music - transcribing = accurately reducing the orchestral version to piano. Arranging = creating my own version. So I technically do both! And yep, all by ear! Sometimes I'll use sheet music from others as a rough guide (to more quickly find the notes on tougher sections), but I always use my ears!

When those bass notes hit just right... I really like how FFIX brought back the opening bassline that is signature to the original series pretty much. Though the FFVII theme is really brave, different, and really good compared to the older ones and despite the flak it gets. A good and different game compared to the heritage it had. FF VIII I'm not a huge fan of personally. Don't flame me on that. The music is ok but eh. Overall, this is a really fun listen, I give you many props!
willnicholson18 FFX is my second favorite FF game. I remember how much FF7 blew me away when I played it, and the second I played FFX I had that same exact feeling again! FFX was incredible for its time as well. I heard they are making a FFX-3!

think my favorite is FF V , so epic but FF 1 of course is just so awesome. even tho ive never played 2 i freakin love that jam too. Currently playing FF VI which is my favorite FF game of all time! The theme sounds awesome on a piano!

When those bass notes hit just right... I really like how FFIX brought back the opening bassline that is signature to the original series pretty much. Though the FFVII theme is really brave, different, and really good compared to the older ones and despite the flak it gets. A good and different game compared to the heritage it had. FF VIII I'm not a huge fan of personally. Don't flame me on that. The music is ok but eh. Overall, this is a really fun listen, I give you many props!
I like that i can hear the bass line of the victory fanfare really well. I never got to appreciate it until now.

willnicholson18 FFX is my second favorite FF game. I remember how much FF7 blew me away when I played it, and the second I played FFX I had that same exact feeling again! FFX was incredible for its time as well. I heard they are making a FFX-3!

I usually don't really like FFVII battle music in favor of IX as the battle usually short. But man that part 4:57 really turned me on.
