I am a mid-skill AE freelancer since years, so I do understand the basic logic behind AE designs/animations. However, I gotta say, even tho your videos are supposed to be just tutorials, I can just watch them regularly for entertainment and chill. Its satisfying. The techniques you use are insane. Sometimes I watch your videos in my bed before trying to sleep. Thank you so much for making my time watching your videos worthwhile.
If you are having issues like I was applying the tracking data to your new comp and it not doing anything.. The issue seems to be a bug if you trimmed your footage in AE and then tracked it. To fix this, trim your footage, then precomp it. Apply mocha and track it on the precomp. This worked for me
precompose with all attributes ?? I have just trim my footage and it didn't work like you said.. now i will try to pre-comp the trim, but moving all attributes ?
God, I rummaged through all UA-cam and Google, but the answer to how to use PowerShell I found only from you. Thank you great man! You saved my nerves)
It's an interesting idea. I'm not super up on how Element works. But since Power Mesh can generate a null cloud, or an alembic, so long as you can use either as an emitter for element you should be good.
Is this a case where the time index of the layer and comp may have a miss match. After you apply the data, check for "when" the keyframes might be. I was surprised to find them at 00:00 on the layer when I expected them at 00:00 on the comp.
You may be missing one little critical thing. Without seeing what specifically you're doing it's hard to really say. I would recommend taking it very slowly and breaking it down step by step to understand what each phase is meant to "do" in the process. It's better to understand the steps than follow the recipe. I hope that helps and best of luck.
Thanks for the lesson, it was very helpful for me. I like it, if you can do the lesson "how you remove intercepting hands, not disturb to power mesh" really I can't understand that part. so I'm stuck there. I'm a new guy to your channel. anyway, thanks for everything. your channel helps me learn a lot of things to improve my VFX knowledge.
@@evanabrams2735 I have AE2020 and AE22 Moch Pro version is 2020. Yet Inside AE i can see both Mocha and Mocha Pro in effects menu. But Mocha Pro has no Mesh feature. So sad.

hmm didn't work for me... but i saw in your video that your initial footage is already a composition there, not the initial footage (mp4 or whatever).. Why you have (pre-compose ????) the initial footage ? is this a step not included in the video ?
You might be encountering an error for "when" the keyframes are being created. Check on the timeline for if they're at a timecode not in the work area. I precomposed just so the footage started at 00:00. I didn't realize it was sometimes an issue till later. I hope that helps.
@@ECAbrams I just confirm that in order to work someone should precompose the initial footage before especially when the part he is using is a trim-part
@@georges8408 I'm not sure. An update may have fixed that up. I think what's more important is the time code. If in doubt, precompose and make sure that timecode starts at zero. But if you run into more trouble, I would hit up the BorisFx forums. They would have more accurate answers to the latest version of the plugin.
@@ECAbrams Thanks man.. I m already there but youttube video-tutorials like yours is better for me. Also, the evolution of Mocha have changed a bit the workflow compared to some years before.
Amazing work. A small detailed overlooked of nature, fire doesn't flow up digonally, it always flows up vertically, it doesn't care if surfaces are inclined. But otherwise fantastic.
Good detail. In the original piece, we used the puppet pin to pull bend and skew the fire to appear to move vertically even when the origin is diagonal. Like how the fire from a gas burner appears to blow out horizontally then curves up. It's a few more steps than we covered here, but got the job done pretty well.
It is not a contest and please note that there was mesh tracking in Nuke and Flame using optical flow 3 years before Lockdown. It was not the first to use optical flow for tracking and will not be the last. Mocha's new PowerMesh sub-planar tracking was developed at the request of the userbase and does not use optical flow. PowerMesh can also be used to drive roto and stabilization. Mocha Pro can be run in Premiere, Avid, Flame, Nuke, Fusion, Vegas Pro, and other hosts. Lastly, PowerMesh is one of many features in Mocha Pro. It is a bit apples vs oranges.
Agreed... As a long term Mocha Pro user who just started using Lockdown i feel Mocha Pro is much faster but lockdown acquired better results... I still have to experiment a bit more and Lockdown claims to have an update that speeds it up... Either way Mocha Pro will always be in my arsenal but lockdown is quite powerful... In the end competition usually only helps the consumers in thoery that is...
But also depends on the circumstances... In a perfect world every track works flawlessly... Professionally it's more about budget and time constraints per project as well... I feel Mocha Pro offers a lot more than lockdown...
Similar idea, yeah. Mocha is a larger suite of tracking tools of which Power Mesh is a feature and it works in many editing pipelines. Lockdown does the one thing and only for Ae. Does that help clear it up?
Yes, PowerMesh features exist in the standalone Mocha Pro, but there are slightly more limited workflows at the moment. You can render a reverse stabilized comp, then do your paint or effects and then import back in to render the warp back. In the future, the Insert module of Mocha pro will also have the ability to do a similar comp mesh warped graphics, etc. Hope this helps.
