I so wish this game would get a remake or rerelease. I have such fond memories of this game from way back. I think I was tripping on acid the first time I saw it. Incredible.
One thing I hated about that early 3D era was the almost universal aversion to 2D games. It's funny, because many of the 2D games that powered through this prejudice are considered some of the most desirable, today.
It was very narrow minded of Sony. But they had made a 3D machine and wanted to push that above all else. The few 2D games which snuck through were usually good!
This game is one of my favourites, with a terrific soundtrack. i do know full well of owning it for literally years i'm not beating the final "evil engine" level anytime soon. a fucking nightmare.
Such a weird and funny game, even if the platformer gameplay is pretty by the numbers there's still nothing else quite like it on the console. Great review as always man!
I find it quite interesting Planet Idznak and the Skullmonkey species were already established in the first game through the Hall of Records. I love when characters and locations from sequels are already mentioned somewhere in the previous instalment. It gives you the feeling the writers didn't just make it all up as they went along.
Hmmm interesting this one. Like a Earth Worm Jim meets Coolspot with a cool clay style and humour. Yeah think I'm sold on this one mate. Great review and thanks for adding another to me hunt list fer my ps1 😉🏴☕👌
Probably one of my first ever games on the PS1. As a child, I remember the game being extremely difficult, but i played on as I loved the cut scenes and sound track. I recently finished this game on an emulator, and I was a little disappointed with the story telling towards the end of the game. Feels like more thought was put on the earlier levels and cut scenes. As and grown up, I would probably give it a 7/10 😂
This looks like a lot of fun! I've wanted to try this game since the '90s, and this might have finally pushed me to do it! Shame about Doug TeNapel, though...
It's really enjoyable, especially if you like similar games from the SNES/Genesis. It's a real shame, you hope people would be better but sadly we're often left disappointed.
@@Steadysphere Yeah, I still play the games, because they're not his work alone, and he wasn't the driving force behind them, but his comics and other work I try to avoid as much as possible.

I'd be down for that. Even if it just comes to PS Plus via emulation tbf.
The beans cutscene lives in my head rent-free 20 years later
Peak ps1 cutscenes!
Classic! My band covers the Title Screen song at Gig Sound check.. haha Cheers Man
Those FMVs had me chuckling, there's nothing quite like it on PS haha. The fart/melting head reminded me of Raiders of the Lost Ark :)
I noticed in my review I said "scared off the big bad", but really, Klaymen murdered them actually lol
Me and my brother loved this game on the PS1. We loved the claymation cutscenes so much.
They're so good!

Some levels of this game are the definition of brutal 😳
@@Steadysphere percise jumping and timing definitely needed.

Its some nice setup without feeling forced like a cliffhanger ending without resolution. * cough * Too Human * cough *
“A Bad man fell from the sky” AHHHhHhhhhhhhhhh

There's been a few games I've revisited after playing as a kid and found them way worse than I remember 😆

My brothers and I loved this game!
