The earthrise seeker mold for example, kinda looks less dynamic than it’s siege counterpart, and even looks a bit dumpy, but when you have starscream, skywarp, and thundercracker together, all those flaws seem to melt away

Sludge wasn’t even used as a character in Fall of Cybertron, the only times you see him in the campaign is when you find him dead while you’re playing as Jazz and when you see an animated hologram of him while playing as Grimlock. That’s how I was introduced to the character of Sludge.
Studio Series 86 Sludge looks awesome. Very much like his G1 cartoon appearance in both robot and Brontosaurus modes. Now that the first three Dinobots, that was introduced in the G1 episode "S.O.S. Dinobots", are front and center, looking forward to Snarl and Swoop to finish off the Dinobot team. Also that DNA Design upgrade kit, that has the cartoon pop out eyes. From when Devastator struck Sludge so hard, his eyes bulged out of his head, during the Autobot City attack.
you have discovered your fav 86 figure, i think i have gotten my favorite figure, legacy inferno, which just a back shot managed to save completely and i think aside from his flame guns from the series, it is going to be the biggest treat i ever have

I'm excited for whenever i get this. I have all of the PotP Dinobots and seeing what 86 is doing, I'll eventually put them in storage or offload them onto someone who wants them. I will also never be able to get the 86 celebrities out of my head, and weirdly enough makes me want William Dafoe to voice Kup in modern day.
Or you could just leave them in Combined mode, and have them be your What IF Dinobot Combiner. Willem Dafoe would make a Solid acting choice for Kup. I just hope your copy is a good one.
I got this figure along with a few other figures a week of two ago, my thoughts on those are far clearer than my thoughts on this. I *think* I like SS86 Sludge but I don't know. Alt mode looks good, bot mode is good, transformation is fun. So why don't I love this as much as I should have? Well because the QC on mine is god awful, and it used to be even worse. When I got him his knee ratchets were so weak that he couldn't even stand! Thankfully I was able to fix that however the rest of my QC is still bad. The wings don't stay on because part of it's made of rubber, the neck *barely* connects in dino mode, and the hips are still loose. (Also two of the other figures I got were just based of your recommendation, those being Jhiaxus and Perceptor which I love) Edit: Jesus Christ I had no idea how bad the Fanstoys Sludge looked.

Why are they so good, also my fav dinobot is Swoop, also as a dino nerd technically this should be an appatasaurus, but at the same time apparently there is also a chance of bronto being real so idk

I would say Power of the Prime’s Rodimus Unicronus’s head looks like Lemmy from Motörhead. The one time I might be cool with celebrity based head sculpting.
I finally bought one of these and oh man is it good! The only issues I have with my copy are the knees are very loose, I do wish the neck in the alt mode was a bit taller, and The gun looks great but like you said it's too small for the figure. Otherwise he's great! However, I really hate that I skipped out on Slug/Slag because now that I have Grimlock and Sludge, I'm really wishing I could complete the initial trio of the team.

I can't wait for Snarl to come out, he's my favourite, with Sludge as close second. I don't have the shelf space to get all the dinos, so I was disappointed I wouldn't be able to pick this up, especially considering how good it is, but Snarl takes priority for me. Amazing review, as per usual.
I advise you make the Shelf Space, weather that means putting stuff in a draw or what ever it takes, because it's that good. And I just hope they do a Snarl.

I’m just gonna say it, I like all of these better then any other version I’ve seen, MP included. 86 Grimlock, Slag, and Sludge have all been the dinobots I’ve wanted forever. I love the hip design they use and don’t have the same issues with it as the slight difference in proportion gives each one more character to me, and it never looks bad imo. I saw another video where they weighed it, I guess this guy is heavier then either of the previous 2 even with their mini figs, so that’s cool. I also had no issues with QC and he might just be my favorite of the three. Depending how snarl comes out he may take that spot though, but all of these have been great and it’s so nice that ever since siege the transformers team seems to be taking these lines a lot more seriously. Im hoping we will see the next Dino at pulse-con, every time we get one my anticipation for the next increases.
Well it's not like theres a MP version of anyone of these but Grimlock. Unless you are talking about 3P. I don't think the 86 Dinobots legs have not looked Bad yet, but Slag is bordering on it. I had not noticed that, but I believe it considering how he's got the bronto head on his back. Glad to hear your QC worked out.

Just got this guy, found him on a impulse birthday Walmart trip, having all three is like seeing the clouds part and the light of heaven shine on the display
Usually, I only need to look at the directions on transformation once when I get a new figure. Sludge has been the only guy who I needed to use multiple times. His legs are just so finicky. It's fantastic, don't get me wrong, but wow!
The only notable cons I have with SS86 Sludge is that the dino neck could have been a bit longer and the robot toes sticking out the bottom of dino mode. An upgrade kit from BDT Studio shows that there’s a way to remedy that. Other than that it looks like a great figure.
All the 86 Dinobots so far have been awesome! I can't wait for the final two! I kinda wish they'd revealed Snarl instead of The Fallen yesterday, but hey, it is what it is.
I mean they typically give a figure a few months of being out before they announce the next one in the series, so I get why, just hope it happens at all considering how short his screen time was.

My favorite Dinobot will always be Snarl, mostly because of my love for Stegosaurus', but you can bet I'll try and grab this if I can. Also, about the reveals on yesterday's livestream. I watched That Toy Guy's reaction to it with Diamondbolt, TFanPage101, Paperplane, and Dr. Lockdown, and someone said that Crankcase's alt mode looked like Animated Soundwave. My prediction is that he'll be retooled/repainted into Animated Soundwave, and that'll be the Deluxe Soundwave we saw in the leaked listings. It's the only logical explanation I can think of for that.
I just hope they do a Snarl, and that those rumors are wrong. Perhaps a bit. Too bad, kind of wish I'd been invited to that, didn't even know it happened. Though I guess I wouldn't have had the time since I was working on this video. If I was there I think I'd have been the only American. That would be cool to see.

I cannot wait to find one. Another good video. Personally I think swoop will be a leader with his bombs and gun. Swords will have to be 3rd party. And I have found a new purpose after you fulfilling the MMC mirage review. I think you should review universe hound. This mostly comes from my disdain for the siege figure, and no modern earth mode one. And just because the universe hound is so cool, delux hound with a shoulder cannon that has a rocket in it. He’s missing his hologram gun like the siege, but he comes with a whole ass ravage instead. A VS between the 2 or a whats the best would be very neat. (Magic square hound is very good)

Do agree that having them all next to each other is great. I was super excited to get this, but in hand I have mixed feelings. Honestly for me Slag has been the most satisfying and solid feeling. Aside from the floppy backpack in robo mode. My sludge has a bit of a mix on joint tolerances. I did decide to Invest in the folding feet kit. They look ok but are a floppy mess when you move or transform him. Need to tighten them, BUT having them folded in Dino mode makes me so much happier.
I have the EXACT opposite experience. Slag is easily the worst, he's got the Strongest knees but they are way too strong, and his backpack falling off and falling apparat all the time is cancer.

He isn't which one. And we can only hope they keep up with the quality, but if you ask me we are already through the woods on them messing up, as Slag already happened. A figure with a Backpack it shouldn't have, with whacky proportions, and likes to fall apart. We got the bad one out of the way, and it wasn't that bad.
I have this weird memory where in the G1 cartoon where the Dinobots betrayed the Autobots and joined the Deceptions, then were destroyed by Shockwave and were rebuilt by Wheeljack and were all of the sudden EXTREMELY loyal. Even more loyal than BUMBLEBEE. Anyways I got this figure and it is a gift from Christ himself.

Just got this figure today, best way to describe it is I went on a 10 minute rant about how much I hate the alt mode gap and how easy it would be to avoid and how its mere existence makes me wanna cry, then follow it up by calling it one of the best figures I own and highly recommending it Also I cut out little pieces of paper and blu tacked it to the dino head to make the eye pop scene in the movie
I'm amazed they didn't make the Cartoon eyes just an accessory. And yeah the Gap is so irritating, and the figure could be nearly perfect if it weren't there.

Finally got this figure after almost 2 years of wanting it, since he was on a good sale at Walmart today. On my way home, I was praying that QC didn't bite me. So I'm so glad to say that he was pretty much perfect out of the box 😅
Grimlock and a future swoop have repaint options For grimlock its his sg colour scheme aka mini trypticon And for swoop it would be his energon colour Scheme And if you dont know what they look like look it up

Hey, what do you think of MP Nightbird? I don’t think I’ve ever heard your thoughts on it. I got it yesterday and it is a dream come true because I absolutely love Nightbird but I usually can get one because they’re sold out. I modified mine to remove the backpack and I am loving it. I’m taking a bunch of pictures of it, which I only do with figures that are my absolute top 5.
I think I talked about it once before but maybe I'm wrong. I think it looks better and more appropriate than the MP Arcee. Looks pretty decent honestly.
Sludge I my favorite dinobot too, I also just got Velocitron Blurr and Legacy Skids, Skids is a decent figure, but the Blurr is the stand out, he looks so cool, and I love his transformation.
Personally I'm sued to the Velocitron Blurr transformation because it's just the same thing as the TR Version so it doesn't really stand out to me so much. Glad you are enjoying it.
I know time is a Lie I swear. And I think you will love it. Especially if they can find one with good legs. Should be relatively cheap to get this guy at this point.
I got the figure because you said it was a must buy and with in the first two days of owning it I have transformed it like 50 times. Also, it was the only leader class figure besides the blitzwing.
Happy Birthday! As for WTB 86 Dinobot, it's really a Toss Up Between Grimlock and Sludge. Grimlock obviously looks cooler, and he's got the better QC almost universally, plus his transformation has no Negatives. Sludge how ever gets SLIGHTLY better Poseability, a far more interesting Transformation, and he lacks all the gaps that Grimlock had that needed to be filled by Upgrade kits. So it's really hard to say, but gut instinct says Grimlock if just for the fact that he's got more consistent QC.
The only problem with mine is a few QC problems, the only annoying ones being the right knee being loose and the dino head being a little easy to untab in dino mode. other than that im full in when the rest are announced

Glad that your copy doesn't have any major issues. Mine is pretty loose in several areas, but I still enjoy it quite a bit. Also, I think Blurr might also be suffering from Eighty Sickness. I've dubbed him Blurrnest Khalimov.

I totally think the same thing. As for the Gigapower Dinobots, those are what I use as my MP scale Dinobots. Their Sludge is Deeply flawed though.

There must be some sort of alert system in stores on when to stock these figures the moment someone in a 20 mile radius buys it online

Every time I look at my sludge's it's a 50/50 whether my brain imagines G1 sludge's or siege jetfire's voice 😭

Usually, I only need to look at the directions on transformation once when I get a new figure. Sludge has been the only guy who I needed to use multiple times. His legs are just so finicky. It's fantastic, don't get me wrong, but wow!
I don't know that I'd call them Finicky, but I would say the way the thighs slide around sure is.
If only they could combine, volcanicus is cool to me for no reason and I think they would be the biggest combiner
I agree on both fronts it is awesome, and it should be the biggest one.
The only notable cons I have with SS86 Sludge is that the dino neck could have been a bit longer and the robot toes sticking out the bottom of dino mode. An upgrade kit from BDT Studio shows that there’s a way to remedy that. Other than that it looks like a great figure.

Sludge was always my fave too. And my copy of this fig is pretty solid.
Yeah, it seems like Russian Roulette if you get a good coppy or not which is just too bad.

All the 86 Dinobots so far have been awesome! I can't wait for the final two! I kinda wish they'd revealed Snarl instead of The Fallen yesterday, but hey, it is what it is.
I mean they typically give a figure a few months of being out before they announce the next one in the series, so I get why, just hope it happens at all considering how short his screen time was.

What do you mean the new editing. This is my normal editing. Though I did do more of it this time, just because that's the way the script came out.
My favorite Dinobot will always be Snarl, mostly because of my love for Stegosaurus', but you can bet I'll try and grab this if I can.
Also, about the reveals on yesterday's livestream. I watched That Toy Guy's reaction to it with Diamondbolt, TFanPage101, Paperplane, and Dr. Lockdown, and someone said that Crankcase's alt mode looked like Animated Soundwave.
My prediction is that he'll be retooled/repainted into Animated Soundwave, and that'll be the Deluxe Soundwave we saw in the leaked listings. It's the only logical explanation I can think of for that.
I just hope they do a Snarl, and that those rumors are wrong.
Perhaps a bit. Too bad, kind of wish I'd been invited to that, didn't even know it happened. Though I guess I wouldn't have had the time since I was working on this video. If I was there I think I'd have been the only American.

If there's one Dinobot i'll be picking up, it'll be Swoop. He's my favorite Dinobot, and I feel like they could make it amazing.

I think he's a little short in the dinosaur mode. Both in height and length.
Understandable, but the figure would have had to have been bigger than the other 86 Boys to do that, and he's already the heavies of the 3, so I can see why they didn't.
QC issues here. Both mine had SUPER loog hips and legs. Had to do the mod to the ratchet part to fix it.

I cannot wait to find one. Another good video. Personally I think swoop will be a leader with his bombs and gun. Swords will have to be 3rd party. And I have found a new purpose after you fulfilling the MMC mirage review. I think you should review universe hound. This mostly comes from my disdain for the siege figure, and no modern earth mode one. And just because the universe hound is so cool, delux hound with a shoulder cannon that has a rocket in it. He’s missing his hologram gun like the siege, but he comes with a whole ass ravage instead. A VS between the 2 or a whats the best would be very neat. (Magic square hound is very good)

Also I don't have a Universe Hound. Honestly the only Hound I have is the Siege.

Do agree that having them all next to each other is great. I was super excited to get this, but in hand I have mixed feelings. Honestly for me Slag has been the most satisfying and solid feeling. Aside from the floppy backpack in robo mode. My sludge has a bit of a mix on joint tolerances. I did decide to Invest in the folding feet kit. They look ok but are a floppy mess when you move or transform him. Need to tighten them, BUT having them folded in Dino mode makes me so much happier.
I have the EXACT opposite experience. Slag is easily the worst, he's got the Strongest knees but they are way too strong, and his backpack falling off and falling apparat all the time is cancer.
now I really regret missing out on grimlock

I’m glad Sludge isn’t that one, but I just have a sinking feeling they are gonna mess this up with either Swoop or Snarl when they come.
He isn't which one. And we can only hope they keep up with the quality, but if you ask me we are already through the woods on them messing up, as Slag already happened. A figure with a Backpack it shouldn't have, with whacky proportions, and likes to fall apart. We got the bad one out of the way, and it wasn't that bad.
I have this weird memory where in the G1 cartoon where the Dinobots betrayed the Autobots and joined the Deceptions, then were destroyed by Shockwave and were rebuilt by Wheeljack and were all of the sudden EXTREMELY loyal. Even more loyal than BUMBLEBEE. Anyways I got this figure and it is a gift from Christ himself.
That does sound like something that either could have happened in the show, or could have happened in the comics or something.

I can’t wait till Snarl enters the ring. He’s my favorite Dinobot, and I can’t wait. I feel like an upscaled heavy retool of the POTP, bc that figure was really good as far as Snarls go. Either way, I’m stoked for Snarl.

I've been too complimentary of lightpiping lately too. I guess what I'll say is I just realized 86 Kup has lightpiping and it sucks.
Just got this figure today, best way to describe it is I went on a 10 minute rant about how much I hate the alt mode gap and how easy it would be to avoid and how its mere existence makes me wanna cry, then follow it up by calling it one of the best figures I own and highly recommending it
Also I cut out little pieces of paper and blu tacked it to the dino head to make the eye pop scene in the movie
I'm amazed they didn't make the Cartoon eyes just an accessory.
And yeah the Gap is so irritating, and the figure could be nearly perfect if it weren't there.

Yeah, Slag is still on some shelves but he's a pain in the balls to get a hold of otherwise, if not just because of the rarity but price.

Finally got this figure after almost 2 years of wanting it, since he was on a good sale at Walmart today. On my way home, I was praying that QC didn't bite me. So I'm so glad to say that he was pretty much perfect out of the box 😅

Hey, what do you think of MP Nightbird? I don’t think I’ve ever heard your thoughts on it. I got it yesterday and it is a dream come true because I absolutely love Nightbird but I usually can get one because they’re sold out. I modified mine to remove the backpack and I am loving it. I’m taking a bunch of pictures of it, which I only do with figures that are my absolute top 5.
I think I talked about it once before but maybe I'm wrong. I think it looks better and more appropriate than the MP Arcee. Looks pretty decent honestly.
Sludge I my favorite dinobot too, I also just got Velocitron Blurr and Legacy Skids, Skids is a decent figure, but the Blurr is the stand out, he looks so cool, and I love his transformation.
Personally I'm sued to the Velocitron Blurr transformation because it's just the same thing as the TR Version so it doesn't really stand out to me so much.

I got the figure because you said it was a must buy and with in the first two days of owning it I have transformed it like 50 times. Also, it was the only leader class figure besides the blitzwing.

Happy Birthday! As for WTB 86 Dinobot, it's really a Toss Up Between Grimlock and Sludge. Grimlock obviously looks cooler, and he's got the better QC almost universally, plus his transformation has no Negatives. Sludge how ever gets SLIGHTLY better Poseability, a far more interesting Transformation, and he lacks all the gaps that Grimlock had that needed to be filled by Upgrade kits.
So it's really hard to say, but gut instinct says Grimlock if just for the fact that he's got more consistent QC.
The only problem with mine is a few QC problems, the only annoying ones being the right knee being loose and the dino head being a little easy to untab in dino mode. other than that im full in when the rest are announced
The dino head is a bit easy to untab, I think that's just part of the mold in general.
As for the leg, have you tried tightening the Screw?

Glad that your copy doesn't have any major issues. Mine is pretty loose in several areas, but I still enjoy it quite a bit.
Also, I think Blurr might also be suffering from Eighty Sickness. I've dubbed him Blurrnest Khalimov.
