When I first got into adult collecting, SS86 Grimlock was one of the first figures I bought. To say he lit a FIRE UNDER MY ASS is an UNDERSTATEMENT. His intuitive transformation, the plastic quality, and the SHEER BULK of this guy really made a statement and showed me how cool Transformers had become. I had kept up with the Dinobots as they came out, each one I got had such a story behind it to make them that much more special to me. For instance, Slug I got from a guy on Facebook Marketplace, since I didn't have a car, I had to take a city bus to the literal OTHER SIDE of my city of Jacksonville to meet him at the beachside Target where I met him and got Slug and a bonus Siege Shockwave. Shortly after, a heavy rain hit and I nearly got soaked running like hell back to the bus stop. A royal pain in the ass, but worth it. I remember staring at the box art as I was riding the bus home like it was yesterday... Sludge is another story, I had gotten him relatively early, and, like most, I got stuck with some major QC issues as both the hip AND knee ratchets were loose. I had to deal with standing him up awkwardly so that he wouldn't fall over till my friend decided to let me use his step-dad's tools to open him up and plug the gaps in the ratchet's teeth with bits of Q-Tips. It was my first time modifying a figure. But after that, I got to REALLY enjoy Sludge. And I gotta agree, he is absolutely the most bang for your buck when it comes to the 86 Dinobots. The plastic quality is incredible, he feels HEFTY and thick, not to mention that SOUL SHREDDING GUITAR SOLO of a transformation. Snarl, is a bit of a heartbreak. I got my first copy as a birthday gift, but one time I got into a huge fight with my little brother. He got so angry he took it out on some of my toys that happened to be sitting on the coffee table in front of him. He threw all my Dinobots against the wall, and thankfully all but Snarl survived, as he straight up broke his right leg off. This year I was able to secure a second copy and my brother and I are on much better footing with a much bigger mutual respect for one another. So it's good that everything wound up working out, and I was able to give the broken one to my little sister by transforming him into dino mode. As for Swoop, his story is yet to be told as he's currently on his way to me from BigBadToyStore. But I have a feeling he'll just serve as the cap off to my legendary collecting journey of these Dinobots thus far, and it'll serve to remind me just how much my life has changed since then, and I'll love him with all my heart like I do all the rest of my Dinobots.
Awesome memories you have there! But you just looked at the box art on that bus ride back home?? Yeah, I would've dove right into that box the moment I sat down! (And I have done exactly that over the years on many occasions. Transformers, Beyblade, Power Rangers, if I wanted it that much, I opened it right away.)

Snarls sword can store under the belly in dino mode so it's less obtrusive. Theres a pair of tabs on the belly area that go into two slots on the sword.
Really curious what SS86 Leaders look like now that the Dinobots are finished. Starscream and Springer have been retools, but it seems likely that Megatron will be entirely new. Who else would be a good choice for this price point?
Astrotrain? I’d like him to be a new commander class but could see him being a leader again. Galvatron will probably get either a reissue or a retool under SS86 Rodimus will probably show up again in some form, maybe the base commander figure and an accessory for the leader price point?

Maybe Strafe, too (imagine G1-ified CV Swoop, with G1-ified AOE Strafe dinomode; still 2 heads). If Strafe existed, then she'd be Voyager with Slash, the other boys be Leaders.
*is unreasonable* I would love to see Paddles, Slash, Scorn and Scar in this sort of style. Not necessarily size class (they might have a harder time selling even more leader class Dinobots).
This, but I think we need a new Deluxe for her - if the other Minibots can go from Legends/Cores to Deluxes, she absolutely should've done so as well!! Also, add a new Deluxe version of Legacy Skarr, so he can tend to them like the team medic should!

I gave up after the 3rd one, because previously I had bought one at Wall Mart every year around Christmas but they stopped showing up at Wall Mart and became pre order only online, and I was generally annoyed they changed the gold plastic on the Stegosaurs head compared to every other one.
I hope we can get a slash a paddles. Along with other g1 type dinobots to add to the team. I also hope we can get the combiner that could be a little bit bigger. To go against a future predaking combiner.
I love Slag! I don't seem to have the same issues as your item, so it's probably QC issues in the line? My copy has sturdy enough hip joints, the backpack locks in place. I think you may need to hinge the head crest back until it locks into the backpack. This keeps the backpack from wiggling about and potentially dislodging the accordioned tail part.
I have the Sludge figure, and I never noticed the knee problem, but the left hip specifically has a loose ratchet on my copy, but other than that and the panels that form the front of the dino/ wings in robot mode not staying on at all (I really wish they just thickened the plastic a bit and put a pin into there) I like him. But, my preference is when in robot mode, I prefer to rotate the dino head 180° and have it look like Grimlock. So, a little column A, little column B.
i'm happy about this because it means we'll finally start getting the bayverse dinobots, maybe even a new bayverse grimlock (for TLK since they've redone figures before like prime with his ROTF first version and 07 second version)

My ranking of the 86 Dinobots 5. Slag (good but worse then the rest) 4. (Great but can be hard to pose at times) 3. Snarl (Also great and fun but the knees look weird, next two are better) 2. Grimlock (Great and fun to pose, nice gun, nice paint) 1. Swoop (Him and Grimlock are kinda tied but I’m leaning a bit more towards Swoop. Super fun to handle and transform, accessories are great too. Amazing set of Dinobots)
I feel like the scale of the Dino’s to each other is off, and since by screen time those dinosaur modes are their main modes, that being better would be nice
Missed em all at this point but not really bothered. Would love to get that Exclusive comics variation of Grimlock though. AOE can't be to far behind, because LC EOE Prime is scheduled for next year which should finally do the design from the movie justice, as the first Leader was too simple and the Voyagers have not been too great either. Scorn as a SS Commander Class in 2026 would be amazing.
They really gotta reprint Grimlock again. I've gotten the 4 others for retail and I refuse to pay aftermarket prices for Grimlock. I've been tempted to get the legacy G2 or the comic version just to have something while I wait for the SS86 version to be available again.
If you can't find SS86 Grimlock for a price you're willing to pay, I'd recommend the Comic edition Grimlock from Hasbro pulse, although it looks different and is USD$5 more.
My bbts preorder of Swoop is taking a while. After him all I need for my Dino boy collection is ss86 Grimlock, but the comic edition is a fine replacement until the reissue.
I must have just gotten a bad Sludge. I've had mine for a while now, and out of the box he just felt terrible. He has the knee problems, the tail pieces on the legs hate staying in place, the panels on the back just fall off whenever they want. I'm glad to know not everyone's Sludges were like that, but still yeesh. Also I've never seen any of the other dinobots in person because my stores out here are absolutely terrible yay.
Swoops due out in the next week or so in my area and hes the last I've to get. I got comic grimlock but with the original rerelease next October im tempted to pick him up too for consistency. Either way in a display scale wise its like the G1 season 1 episodes come to Life. 😊
Swoop's one of my favorite Dinobots, next to Grimlock. And, SS86 Swoop is great, so I just have to get him! This figure is just that awesome! Also, can't wait for SS86 Grimlock's rerelease next year! Don't worry, I adore all the Dinobots alot, so no-one's being ignored here.

I’m pretty sure a re-issue of Grimlock is coming out in 2025; at least going by what I remember from leaked listings.
@@jaydonmagan4694 i think i saw that too, and i will definitely be picking it up
Sludge has 1 or 2 upgrade kits, 1 of them is just for the feet.
I know they never did in the show or the movie, but I wish they could form volcanicus. I made a somewhat ok version of sludges leg form
the only ones i’m missing are swoop and slug. i have the comic grimlock but i hope to pick up the og one too
Can’t wait for them to make the other dinobots in this style
If you can't find SS86 Grimlock for a price you're willing to pay, I'd recommend the Comic edition Grimlock from Hasbro pulse, although it looks different and is USD$5 more.
Please make a Transformers series that covers the 20-year gap between BOT and TFTM. Make it with similar animation to G1 TF and same storyline.
We have have to pray 3x a day for that bruh
My bbts preorder of Swoop is taking a while. After him all I need for my Dino boy collection is ss86 Grimlock, but the comic edition is a fine replacement until the reissue.
can you make volcanicus with all of those? or is it not possible
Nope, no combinability built in
volcanicus isn’t from g1 so no
would be cool if in the future they added a titan class volcanicus
I must have just gotten a bad Sludge. I've had mine for a while now, and out of the box he just felt terrible. He has the knee problems, the tail pieces on the legs hate staying in place, the panels on the back just fall off whenever they want. I'm glad to know not everyone's Sludges were like that, but still yeesh. Also I've never seen any of the other dinobots in person because my stores out here are absolutely terrible yay.
As soon as I get home from work with swoop in hand today hell yeah
Swoops due out in the next week or so in my area and hes the last I've to get.
I got comic grimlock but with the original rerelease next October im tempted to pick him up too for consistency. Either way in a display scale wise its like the G1 season 1 episodes come to Life. 😊
Swoop's one of my favorite Dinobots, next to Grimlock. And, SS86 Swoop is great, so I just have to get him! This figure is just that awesome! Also, can't wait for SS86 Grimlock's rerelease next year!
Don't worry, I adore all the Dinobots alot, so no-one's being ignored here.
just gotta add this before watching the video
Every Dinobot its easy to find, except Grimlock himself.....
these look sick as fuck together
I got my older brother sludge for christmas because he was the only dino bot they had
I’m happy I started with Sludge, I was able to get him on clearance for $41 at Walmart and I’m really happy, now I just need to find cheap ways of obtaining the other 4; and I always thought his name was Slag not Slug, idk, Slag honestly sounds better imo but it works either way
Wonder if they do Scar
They can put it in the concept series
