Of the two, Slag is definitely the better, though I got Sludge first becaue I found him first. I really like how Volcanicus is coming together so far, I plan to order Grimlock this weekend, and preorder Swoop and Skarr later this month with Beachcomber. Since I'm still in school I need to save money, so core collecting has been a really fun for me lately, they're so small and inexpensive it's hard to resist. When I graduate in June I'll pick up more hours at my job, but even still I think I'm fully hooked on the core class scene, and I absolutely love the dinobots, no matter what size they are. Slag, Swoop, and Grimlock are definitely best in Robot mode, while Sludge is best in dino mode, even if it is small and hollow. I for one am at least glad we're getting Skarr, as I've been wanting more dinobots other than the main five. A new Slash and Paddles would be fun too, maybe even a G1-styled Scorn for the heck of it 🤷🏾♂️.
Yeah they are great for being on a Budget. A lot of fun packed into a low price, and a small figure that can be kept in a pocket. I would kill for an 86 Slash and Paddles.
These feel like figures designed 15 years ago and that has the benefit of making me feel nostalgic but it’s not really enough for me to think it’s worth the price. Grimlock at least looks like he’ll be fun which is more than I can say for these two who will remain a torso forever
I don't know that I'd go that far, as I've handled Kingdom Hotrod a figure that felt a lot more like it was designed 15 years ago. But I do see where you are comming from.
I'm getting all of them, I know they aren't the best, but it reminds me of old legends/cyberverse figures that weren't the best looking but cute and fun little toys.
I have the power of the primes one, and I like it tho I have only one quarrel with it, the peteradactol head keeps slipping off of swoops robot mode head
I have never met a toy that somehow has negative charisma until now. All of the dinobots (autocorrect wants me to call them dingbats lol) are so jank that they somehow manage to be charming in a way. I can never figure out if they're trying their best and failing or just calling it a day after doing nearly the bare minimum, and I kind of love that? These, the Junkions, and Legacy Override are the only transformers I've bought in literal years and maybe that colors my opinion but I've already got swoop and skar pre-ordered, and really don't get why Snarl and Grimlock were released in separate waves.
Their charisma is so bad it goes off the edge of the gauge and then comes back in at the top of it. Those are some pretty good figures to pick up to dip your toes back into the fandom.
@@PerspectiveEnd It's funny because they (the core class dinobots) should be "objectively" bad toys, but they're like pugs. They're ugly by all conventional measurements, every second of their existence is pain, but dammit, they're kind of adorable because of that? Scraphook and Override are just excellent tbh.
Yayks 😬.... If this is as bad as you presented, I'm more them curioes if the Monstruckt/Dino King remold of this will either fix it, or breaks the combiner even more. We'll have to wait to find out. And as for the question of the video ... What combiner would you like to see get a "legacy" upgrade (besides BRUTICUS, cause it is that obvies).
The Literal duality between the Legacy Dinobots and the SS86 Dinobots is palpable. You have a set of figures that have consistently been on your Best-Of lists, even the one that got fucked by QC Roulette. And then you have these: which absolutely are going to have a group entry in your 2023 Worst-Of list. Otherwise, they would eat up half the fucking list. I do hope that we keep getting Leader/Voyager Dinobots, even after the Movie ones are done. Just make them the same way, but put them into the Mainline. Skar can be a Leader and Slash can be a Voyager (assuming Swoop is also a Voyager. I really hope they keep over-scaling these bots to inject them with as much Budget as possible)
I don't know that them winding up on the worst of list is a Guarntee yet, but they are quite bad. I hoe we get a Slash for sure. She needs a better figure than the PotP one that didn't even join the combiner.
It doesn't hold together as well as you'd hope in the legs. Sludges robot mode shins put downwards pressure on them so they try to fall off. It does look cool though.
sneaking in a mini battletrap review I see Also at least this volcanicus won't look as bad as the potp release. And its pretty obvious that core Volcanicus will be retooled into dinoking so I'll probably pick that version up
the combiner you made i might to use as a diffrent charter and paint silver because it looked good a stocky but that complete photo lookes like a brick and why are these bad just down scale the potp figures
I'm all for that bonus Battletrap review. I've got them and honestly I still love them. I feel like they hold up fairly well too. I'd love to see them in legacy if Hasbro would put the time, money, and QC into it.
I am the Master of Stealth Reviews. Yeah they are great. I was super excited when they came out for what they represented as the future of Legends class, but then nothing else like them ever happened.
On my copy of Sludge, the peg connecting the arms in dino mode already had a huge stress mark out of box. Kinda makes it terrifying to transform since I'm afraid it'll eventually snap
If I had to rank the revealed dinobots (no Snarl) I would rank them like 5: Sludge (the dino mode can not save the robot mode) 4: Slag (decent in robot mode, passable in dino mode, and if they need to change is name, kept it something in line with fire and burning, like scorch or something) 3 & 2: Skar & Grimlock (they look pretty good in both modes, and I am biased to T-Rexs and Ankylosauruses) 1: Swoop (While I am biased towards swoop due to Cyberverse and that version not get a good toy, Swoops figure is just objectively the best, in both modes(
When all of the core dinobots come out you should make a WTB Core dinobot(Although Swoop will likely win we haven't seen Snarl yet and he might unironically rock)
Thanks for the review. Unfortunately at $20 a piece where I live I don’t think this so bad it’s good is worth $120. I don’t even think it’d be worth $60 which is roughly voyager price here.
Yeah, I was kind of giving him that Glowing Stealth Review. Back in the day I was super excited for what he represented in core class, only for him to be a one off. Also I feel like you don't comment as much as you used to.
@PerspectiveEnd Bummer... Which one? Swoop is the clear best, Snarl almost as good if not for partsforming the big red backplate around. Skarr and Slag are about equal and mostly just lack elbows to reach average. You know about Sludge, doing the heavy lifting of turning the team into a combiner and making the biggest sacrifices. He might not deserve that but at least they recognized he has ball bearings large enough for six bots! Grimlock... I don't understand what they did with Grimlock. His giant feet don't look right as a robot, make the back half of his dino mode even worse than that, and just contribute more to the elephantine overchunk of Volcanicus. Also, the lopsided way he officially ends up as a knee with one wing shell sticking forward is just ugh. Closing them both up in front hides his dino head inside the resulting kneepad but at least doesn't make my teeth grind to look at it.
@@PerspectiveEnd in dino mode he looked a bit squished so that's why pancake although i guess the bicep of a muscular dystrophy patient would be more correct

There is something very charming about both these piles of crap.
Oh boy here we go! Time to listen to funny perspective fella rant while not doing school work woohoo!
I hope you enjoyed not doing your schoolwork?
Have you got any of the rise of the beasts figures yet
A couple.
At least the the combined mode looks neat, better and the wide chunk astheatic looks kinda charming and is much better than potp Volcanicus
To be fair it's hard to look worse than the PotP figure.
I'd love a Good Volcanicus at some point. I actually really liked Skylynx as a combiner. New Elita Combiner would be dope.
Im down for this combiner and by seeing the fanmodes that include potp hands and feet im more excited
Wait what fan mode is this?
@@PerspectiveEnd bot bender orinjs
Holy shit I want that junkion volcanicous hybrid abomination.
It doesn't hold together as well as you'd hope in the legs. Sludges robot mode shins put downwards pressure on them so they try to fall off. It does look cool though.
"B-Buh muh Dinoking!"
I don't know if anyone would defend these for that reason, but that wouldn't be an excuse for Hasbro
All it means is that Hasbro botched two different characters.
I agree slug is a name given to transformer in a wheelchair
Not quite sure I follow you on that?
I know multiple people pointed this out, but a lot of peolple are speculating that this set will be repainted into the Dinoforce from Victory
All you have to do is take this footage, change the name, and BOOM! A battletrap review
I feel like I'd have to add a lot to it, but at the same time, I could use parts of this for that.
I have both of these guys and I quite like them. They're neat little dino-bois, even if they aren't accurate
They are neat yes, in a weird way.
sneaking in a mini battletrap review I see
Also at least this volcanicus won't look as bad as the potp release. And its pretty obvious that core Volcanicus will be retooled into dinoking so I'll probably pick that version up
Indeed I did, I'm a master of that.
And yeah the PotP was pretty unbeatable in terms of Sukk.
Why was I holding Battletrap as you said his name.
Because I warp reality.
Oh my god, Sludge is the Gaping Dragon from Dark Souls.
You aren't wrong.
the combiner you made i might to use as a diffrent charter and paint silver because it looked good a stocky but that complete photo lookes like a brick and why are these bad just down scale the potp figures
I can't profess to having made this, I've seen plenty of others on Twitter do this with the Limbs of Scraphook.
Also did you ever get mmc streetwise
I did. It's just there's so much to review I can't cover it all.
oh
On my copy of Sludge, the peg connecting the arms in dino mode already had a huge stress mark out of box. Kinda makes it terrifying to transform since I'm afraid it'll eventually snap
That's weird. I wonder what would have caused that. Sounds like Factory Error.
If I had to rank the revealed dinobots (no Snarl) I would rank them like
5: Sludge (the dino mode can not save the robot mode)
4: Slag (decent in robot mode, passable in dino mode, and if they need to change is name, kept it something in line with fire and burning, like scorch or something)
3 & 2: Skar & Grimlock (they look pretty good in both modes, and I am biased to T-Rexs and Ankylosauruses)
1: Swoop (While I am biased towards swoop due to Cyberverse and that version not get a good toy, Swoops figure is just objectively the best, in both modes(
While I agree with most of that, I can't agree with Skarr, I'd put him right down there with Sludge.
The base figure should have been the priority not the combine mode.
I don't think anything was the Priority with this set. Every mode sucks.
5:38
"Battletrap's MAXIMUM knees" is easily top 5 hilarious joint mutilation half seconds on UA-cam and for that I thank you
Why was that so funny?
are you gonna get core gimlock?
Planning on it.
When all of the core dinobots come out you should make a WTB Core dinobot(Although Swoop will likely win we haven't seen Snarl yet and he might unironically rock)
That's a possibility at least.
Thanks for the review. Unfortunately at $20 a piece where I live I don’t think this so bad it’s good is worth $120. I don’t even think it’d be worth $60 which is roughly voyager price here.
Jesus. Yeah these aren't worth that price.
Man, this video really makes me want to get Battletrap
Yeah, I was kind of giving him that Glowing Stealth Review. Back in the day I was super excited for what he represented in core class, only for him to be a one off.
Also I feel like you don't comment as much as you used to.
@@PerspectiveEnd yeah, I haven’t been using UA-cam as much in general haha, still catch every upload though, may start commenting more again lol.
Did you ever get around to the rest of these guys? If so I can't find them...
There is one that still eludes me.
@PerspectiveEnd Bummer... Which one?
Sludge is a little baby, so smoll, so pancake
I don't know that I'd call him a pancake, but the other two things yeah.
@@PerspectiveEnd in dino mode he looked a bit squished so that's why pancake although i guess the bicep of a muscular dystrophy patient would be more correct
Love ya vids brother. We share a lot of the same points of love on 99% of your reviewed figures. So I wanna recommend 3 figures TO YOU that you [physically need to own]... because they are utterly badass collectors pieces! An I am gonna recommend them on rating of worst to best. #3 SoC Lion Voltron, #2 SoC Vehicle Voltron, #1 THE ONLY Perfect Voltron, the UBER display piece. The Blitzway Voltron. If you buy only 1 of these 3. Make it the Blitzway Voltron... its that damn good! I would not recommend these lightly, as they are pricey as all hell; but GOOD GOD these are utterly amazing! Highly, HIGHLY! Recommend them based on the bots you have loved! Hope you get a chance to review them!
I'm glad that you enjoy my stuff, and I thank you for the recommendation, feel free to make more at any time.
Sadly I've never been able to get into Voltron. I've tried several times but it just doesn't grab me. Though those figures do look quite good.
@@PerspectiveEnd Wanted to try an help look out for ya "[IF]" you wanted to try an get the Blitzway Voltron to review it for the channel. As it could be broken up into multiple vids. Anyway. Amazon has it $40 cheaper than BBTS, AND they have it on a $40 a month Affirm payment plan option! So $40 down review, return. IF ya don't wanna keep it after ya have it in hand. :D
At first I thought, 'Hang on a sec, SS86 Slag and Sludge are great!'
Then I realized you were talking about the Legacy toys. Yep, they're trash.
Indeed I am. Hard to mistake these for something quality.
Imagine this was the 86 Dino bots
Like they looked like this, or these looked like the 86 Figures?
@@PerspectiveEnd if these are the 86 figures, sorry for being out of context. I am really tired as I just got back from a long trip
Not sure if anyone thought of this but the Combined Volcanicus should be called Smolcanicus
And I got Grimlock but not these two mfs
That's a Great Name. I will use that.
Oh well while we talk about Legacy Evo, how’s it going most of wave 2 at a fricken GameStop when my local Walmart is still stuck on wave 1 of normal Legacy. I hate distribution, Prowl is pretty nice tho
Distribution is cursed we know this.
Slag just never showed up in my area to I'll have to get I'm online at some point.
I currently have Sludge and Grimlock and oh boy they are trash, but I love them so dearly
I got both these through Amazon my self.
And yes they are some how so endearing.
@PerspectiveEnd yeah Sludge and Grimlock are on Amazin AU like normal, but as soon as Slag came of pre order the price jumped to deluxe price. So either I gotta bit the bullet on that, or pay regulat core price elsewhere but then also pay for shipping, so ultimately the price would be about the same
1:20 “looks like a bit of the poo poo he’s trying to take” made me laugh so hard my cat got startled! Ha ha!
I was hoping to cause that reaction in someone with that line.
@@PerspectiveEnd you have succeeded, sir. I salute you. I’m just happy I wasn’t taking a sip of beverage at the moment. Ha ha!
