Debbie, thank you so much for coming here and reflecting. I look forward to the rest of the conversation and glad to see you're doing well. As Judy said, all of us have a shared love of the Waltons, whether it's a cast member from all the seasons or folks from behind the scenes. So excited to hear her talk about it, she's as bubbly as her character. I loved her when she said James Robert....when they were doing the corn and she'd be honored to go out with him. Just a beautiful sweet character and definitely an asset to the cast.
@DebbieTGunn Really great to hear from you! I loved your character so very much! It's great, I'm the same birthday as Judy, 2 yrs her junior. Met her in New Jersey (native NY'er here but stuck in Yuma Arizona now) to watch "The Homecoming" together with them all. What a treat. I wondered where I had heard "piss-ant"!
@DebbieTGunn I think it was like the 35th or 40th. It was awesome, and they signed my original vinyl Christmas album and David signed on the back, I agree with you, he's a great person. Down to earth, he said, "Oh my God is expletive vinyl...'
What a wonderful interview! Debbie looks incredible! Her strong faith has helped her get through some difficult times. It seems to me that the legacy of the Walton's is all the love and friendship that has been created among cast members and guest stars as well. It's obvious that everyone who had any part, big or small, on the show is very proud of their participation. This 30 minutes went very quickly!
@@DebbieTGunn Thank you for responding Debbie! Faith in God and His precious Son have gotten me through some difficult times as well. God bless you always!
Thank you for this video, Judy. I am the administrator of The Waltons Forum. I think of Debbie as a good friend since she’s been posting on our forum, so it was nice to see her on your channel. It was one of our forum members who reached out to you and sent you the letter. I enjoyed this interview so much, and I look forward to seeing part 2. Thank you again!
Judy, thanks so much for creating the environment that engages Walton's alum sharing such beautiful stories! Debbie, thank you for sharing the story about the fan and light in the 'broom closet.' I can just picture that and love the behind-the-scenes imaginative creativity. I dont keep a FB account! I might have to set up an account just to engage with The Walton's Forum you mentioned! I thought it was special that Mrs Brimmer seemed to be lending a hand raising her niece ~ Patsy. Mrs Brimmer reminded me a lot of a very kind Pennsylvania Dutch neighbor woman whose children were grown. She helped take care of me for a time. So, I quite related to your Patsy character though nothing quite as glamorous as engaging with The Walton's. I can see you approaching the Camera operators and wanting to peek through the lense. Bright children are always curious to learn. I look forward to Part 2 of your interview with Judy! For the longest time I felt a bit of a quaint thing because I liked the Walton's so much. Judy, it's lovely learning there are so very many fans just as I am! "The world according to The Walton's..." Have a wonderful weekend both of you and Walton's everywhere! ❤
Oh I love Pasty and Jim Bob together! Hated when she broke up with him because he was interested in Older lady Sarah. She is very pretty. So sorry to hear Eileen passed away.
Fans ALWAYS know every detail of their favorite movies, what it means is that the directors thought lowly of the audience and fans. They were going to make the movie they wanted. They did not care about the past episodes or the fans. I really liked Patsy, Debbie playing her.
Perhaps with so much more chance to hear what the viewers think and want - producers are better able to understand and respond to the fans via the direction they take with shows.
You definitely deserve to be interviewed Debbie! We all love you. You are part of the Walton's family. Your interview was a wonderful birthday present for me today!
What a pleasure listening to Debbie and her time on The Waltons. I'm so glad that some of the actors that were on The Waltons have reached out to you to share their memories of the show for us the fans to enjoy and treasure.
Such a lovely lady she is. She’s beautiful inside and out. So many of the actors that were on the Walton’s had good character. Thank you for bringing her on.
Happy Thursday Judy!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Both for taking the time for such wonderful stories!! Debbie looks beautiful as always loved your character. I always thought you and Jim Bob would get married. That could be the next movie 😊 Can't wait for next week! Again thank you both!!🥰
My mom says she grew up wanting to be the Waltons. Interestingly enough, I'm the oldest of 8. When I was little, we used to think the Waltons had so many kids...but we eventually caught up. 😊 It's interesting going back and watching the show now, being grown up living on my own. Watching the characters go through different seasons of life...growing up together, moving away, coming back to visit...it all feels so much more relatable now.
Such a treat to see Debbie /Patsy after so many years! When people are genuinely honest and open with their feelings it makes us love and appreciate them so much for just being themselves. Wonderful memories as always! Thank you both for sharing with us ✌❤
Debbie was one of my favourite part-time actresses on the program. Her and Jim Bob were so cute. Thanks for discussing why she wasn't available for the Great Motorcycle Race, SM Au
This brings a lot of emotion and memories out of me. Although you and I are but briefly acquainted, I still care dearly for all of you, and all of you (cast and crew) are in my prayers daily. Thank you, Judy. Keep this going, please. Much love and respect to all of you.
That was so interesting to listen to Debbie and her memories of being part of an iconic show. Thank you so much, Judy, for bringing these experiences to us. Just amazing!❤
What a lovely conversation, so glad you had her on! Loved her stories of her background & wanting so bad to get to that Queen concert! It was great hearing once again what a kind person David is, it really showed in the character of Jim Bob. Looking forward to her return! Thank you, Judy, for the smiles it has brought!!! ☺️
The Waltons was my favorite show growing up! I’m from NC, and although the Walton’s was originally filmed in California, I had family they lived down the road in Virginia that lived near the originally family that this series was based on in the mountains of Virginia. have all the dvds and it still my favorite series till this day and I’m 62 years old. I love finding your channel on UA-cam Judy! ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Hi Debbie hey Judy i just love love the Walton show it has helped me get through some rough times in my life. i hope the reruns will stay on facebook because i sit here and watch them all. i love you as maryellen and Richard thomas as johnboy walton you all have helped me so much. i love debbies character too. i love the intereaction she had with the cast.
Every experience is unique; it is so nice those connected with The Waltons, in big and small ways, share. Everyone contributes to the success of a performance, a series; it's certainly evident with The Waltons. Thank you Judy, and thank you, Debbie.
Wow, just wow, Debbie looks amazing and what a delight to hear her recall her memories about the filming of that particular episode. Filming the theatre scene in a broom closet cannot have been easy and I wonder if they did that for other episodes which required similar scenes. That hay ride looked a lot of fun and I do feel for you Judy having to miss that. Thank you Debbie and thank you Judy for today's segment and best wishes to you from your waltonian superfan in a warm and sunny England😉
I was raised in Canada by parents who were raised in England, so I totally understand the dry humor. In fact, I myself have that humor. Like Debbie, I was born in England and came to North America as a very young child. It was great hearing from her, and I am looking forward to the next segment.
That was a great interview! Thank you Debbie Gunn for sharing your interesting experiences from the show with us. I moved to California in 1980 and I also remember discovering soft serve yogurt. Coming from Canada, I had never experienced it before:)
Thank you so much for watching! and yess! soft serve yogurt was a wonderful discovery! Especially coming from England too! But between Canada and England we sure had the best sweets!
She was always adorable on the Walton's and she did a strong performance in Spring Fever with Jim Bob and Ben. Enjoyed all these memories. Hope you had a great 4th of July weekend Judy 😀
Thanks Judy and Debbie..great episode. Great memories...The Waltons was such an iconic show...I love that we get to relive our favourite episodes with you..and your special guests. 🏠🏔
Thank you so much for this channel, Judy. It means so much to us Walton fans. Watching each of your episodes is like coming home and reconnecting with family.
Another wonderful episode! Thank you Judy and all your guests. Loved the broom closet comments! I just saw Spring Fever on Me TV. Thank you for contributing to a wonderful series.❤
Lovely interview!! So sweet and touching! You have such a nice way of interacting with Debbie, really letting her recollect and express herself. She is a kind soul too… I would pray with her any time! Keep creating all of you! Thank you, Judy, for doing this! I see your “followers” growing as more people learn about it! You continue to touch our souls and our lives in magical ways! THANK YOU! Many Blessings to you all!! 🙏🏻😊🦋🌸💗 PS I loved the Patsy character too, and would have loved to have seen more of her! “Meeting” Debbie now is a real treat! She has wonderful recollections and great personal family stories too. Really enjoyed this interview. Thank you both!
I love this channel. So many interesting interviews with awesome cast members and guest stars. I look forward to seeing what guest you interview or show you are covering each week, Judy. Looking forward to Part 2 of your interview with Debbie!
What a delightful person Debbie is and so fun to hear her recollection of her time on the Waltons. The movie theater segment was interesting with the big fan and the light..in a broom closet sized room...I never would of guessed that..looking forward to part 2..😀🖒🌹
Enjoyed hearing from Debbie Gunn. The memories she has along with other cast members that have had brief appearances on the show makes it feel like they were regulars throughout the 9 seasons. Such a treat and pleasure hearing from Debbie. Looking forward to the Part 2. P.S. She looks so good too.
Judy, Thank you forr having Debbie on your show. Please thank her for her time.. Here's teo other ideas for guests: 1. The actress who played Ben's girlfriend when he sold cars; 2. The actor who played Sweet Billy. Appreciate all your hard work!
Hi Judy and also hi Debbie! I love this interview so much and omg I’m apart of The Waltons forum too - I found it a few months ago! Ooh I didn’t know there was a second actress for Patsy Brimmer and I’m so sorry that Eileen passed away :( Debbie was a wonderful part of The Waltons and the hay ride scene is like my favorite scene of the spring fever episode 🤍 awe that is so sweet that her Nana got to talk with Will Geer :) I’m so excited to see part 2 and I hope you both had a wonderful day! ❤ Love, Jamie ~ huge Waltons fan ✨
@@cheerfullyjamie I'm going to look for you on the forum! I started a thread there and have been communicating with a few people! I hop on every few days! Have a great weekend!
I enjoyed Debbie's account of her grandmother from England being on set to watch her act and and just marveling over the fact that her grandmother had survived two world wars and here she was watching. Pretty fascinating.
Thank you for taking the time to watch. It truly was surreal watching my Nana on a film set in America talking to Will Geer. I recently wrote a very short version of her story on my Substack writing site that Judy linked. The story is called "A War of Forgiveness."
Thanks for having Debbie on. She did great and she is a kind person. Over a year ago while on a Walton Facebook group she took the time to talk to me about grief because we had each lost a parent around that time. It's rather special when her episodes come on now because of that kind experience.....on a lighter note - I loved the interview and looking forward to part 2!
Thank you so much for saying that! How kind of you. I know how hard it is to grieve and I am blessed to be able to share and support others in their grief. It comes and goes, yet there is so much of life to live at the same time and good memories to take with us. Thank you for watching! ox
@@DebbieTGunn Hi Debbie, you're very welcome and yes, it comes and goes for me too, but I've been continuing on with life. And I'm glad you have been doing that too.
This was really interesting, Judy. Debbie seems very nice. I, too, love her speaking of the interaction between her Nana and Will Geer. I shall stay tuned for Part Two. Thanks, Judy.
Debbie touched on some of today's life pressures which are stressful for most all of us but she expressed so much thankfulness and appreciation for her family life and experiences on set and how much it all meant to her. I loved that. 👍🏼😘
@@DebbieTGunn no. Thank you for seeing how blessed you are and for having so much appreciation for life. Not only for being on TV and movies but your so thankful for life. I love everyday thankful and blessed. It's rare for today's lifestyles. So hearing you express that really touched me.

So glad to find all these updates on all the people that were a part of the Waltons. That was one of my favorite shows also. Love every episode and I am still watching the reruns!
Debbie: Absolutely loved your work in the Waltons. You are well deserving of your time in Ask Judy. And I love your love for God, too, and you praising Him. Would live to see your photography work. Some of my work is in photography. And Judy, you are so kind towards your fan... you're the best to us. Thank you.
@@judynorton2598 I can understand that. To reconnect is always fun and you do such a great job at it. Better yet, it comes so natural to you. You lead with heart and your kindness and by doing so you're changing the world for the better... literally. And the same for Debbie... for the two of you it comes naturally... what a gift from God.
Debbie, I was so glad to see that you consented to speak to us. As Judy could tell you, I am a recent but nevertheless big fan of The Waltons and of Judy. I did not get to see the show when it was first on because I was busy with my own life with law school, the military, and a wife and kids in the nine years you were on. But now that I have retried from law practice and have been a shut in as a result of serious illness, watching the show and Judy's You Tube has been one of the few joys of my day. I do rememeber you from the episode of "The Rivalry" No one could forget that beautiful girl with a sweet smile and a picnic basket. Thats why I was somewhat surprised to see Jim Bob say that he forgot your date with him. But then I do also remember that he put Jennifer Jason Leigh on a bus out of his life. Now I know why the Air Force rejected him for bad eyesight. Judy, the familly needs to have an intervention with that boy concerning the opposite sex LOL. He needs to know that cars and planes are neat but they can't keep your feet warm on a cold winter's night or get up and cook breakfast in the morning. The minute I saw you in that role Debbie I was hoping that you would possibly be back as a regular. Unfortunately for me and the rest of the Walton audience it was not to be, so I am glad to know that you have had a full and happy since those days and I wish you the absolute best for the rest of what I hope is a long life. And Judy, thank you for doing all this for the fans of the show. I know that you are often up late answering or responding to all of our comments because I look at the time of your posts and subtract to hours to central time. And as always I look forward to seeing you in person again sometime soon and next time I may not need that wheel chair.
@@judynorton2598 Thank You Judy, actually I'm doing fairly well. I only need the chair if I have to go long distances, like to the hospital..I won't miss the chair either but as you know COPD is incurable, As for the vasculitis which could kill me. the news is good. Again its a lifetime problem but my kidneys have stabilized and my A1C is under 6.2 and has also stayed good even though my meds raise my blood sugar to the point that I have daibetes. So Im holding my own and even getting out more without the chair and oxygen tank. Annie has been spending time between her job in Chicago and her farm. We spent time with her on July 2 her birhsday which is also the 51st Anniversary of the day Nancy and I met. We celebrate our 49th Wedding Anniversary on july 20th. Yep, I've had warm feet and breakfast for 49 years! LOL Since you worked with him and mentioned him in one of your last posts. Annie wanted to tell you that she met and was completely impressed with someone you worked with years ago. She has time after the summer park season to take some private gigs and since she knows a lot of artists from her time at Illinois State sh sometimes works as a roadie for some of her friends, getting to travel all over with say The Blue Man Group and Wlacome to Night Vale etc. She got a weekend job at some big conference in San Francisco in which fabulously successful came in to ggive motivational speeches to God knows who--homeless people? Anyway she said that hher job was to fit everyone with body mikes and they all came in with their entourages. All except one, who came in by himself and looked like he was losr----Ronnie Howard ! He came in casually and afterwards had even forgot to have a car waiting so Annie found him a ride to his hotel. She said that Prince Harry was also there and commented that she had a lovely smile. I said that he was right as iwas the guy who paid for it. Hey i see by the time, you answered me a midnight your time. Get some sleep! It's bad enough tnat i stay up til three watching you, but I'm retired i sleep when I want to. Love ya.
Hi Bill! I am adding you to my prayer list! Thank you for your service and I am so happy that The Waltons has given you and your wife joy over the years! Congratulations on reaching 49 years! That is truly wonderful and hope you have a nice celebration. Thank you for your well-wishes and support! I am very blessed to have had this opportunity. Much love your way. ox
@@DebbieTGunn Well Debbie, thank you so much for yout thoughts and prayers. I've been pretty fortunate. in 2013 the doctors gave me four years to live because of COPD. In the hospital in 2019 they gave me a month if they could not discover what I had that made me lose 80 pounds in six months. But I'm still here' I figure that since I'm a lawyer God doesn't know what to do with me. Hell is full of lawyers (or soon will be from the sound of things ) and they have no need for me in Heaven because everyone's been forgiven. I think I'll just stay here for a while because I m starting to amass more girl friends from "The Waltons" than John Boy had. Well O.

@@sheilabradley2892 Well, so nice to see you here!! I'm sure I'll be see you on the forum again soon! Have a great weekend!
Thank you so much. I always appreciate your lovely comments.
Amen. It's a blessing to have praying friends. ❤ 🙏 Love The Waltons. 🎬 ⛪️ 🏠 Thx Judy. 😊
Yes, it is! I feel very blessed! Thank you for watching.
Oh I love Pasty and Jim Bob together! Hated when she broke up with him because he was interested in Older lady Sarah. She is very pretty. So sorry to hear Eileen passed away.
I always think of the brunette Patsy( Eileen) as the one who was angry at Jim Bob, so that lets Debbie off the hook! Lol
Yeah, I like both of the Pasty's but was use to Eileen.
Thanks for joining us.
How many of the cast still live in the area where you filmed? I love this forum! 😊
Debbie thanks for sharing your memories

Thank you for taking the time to watch :)
Fans ALWAYS know every detail of their favorite movies, what it means is that the directors thought lowly of the audience and fans. They were going to make the movie they wanted. They did not care about the past episodes or the fans. I really liked Patsy, Debbie playing her.
Thank you!
@@DebbieTGunn I really enjoyed seeing them go to the movies and have girl friends, I thought you were beautiful, still to this day.
Perhaps with so much more chance to hear what the viewers think and want - producers are better able to understand and respond to the fans via the direction they take with shows.

My mom says she grew up wanting to be the Waltons. Interestingly enough, I'm the oldest of 8. When I was little, we used to think the Waltons had so many kids...but we eventually caught up. 😊
It's interesting going back and watching the show now, being grown up living on my own. Watching the characters go through different seasons of life...growing up together, moving away, coming back to visit...it all feels so much more relatable now.
That's awesome!
Thanks Judy. Always enjoy this. ❤🎬 😊

Every experience is unique; it is so nice those connected with The Waltons, in big and small ways, share. Everyone contributes to the success of a performance, a series; it's certainly evident with The Waltons. Thank you Judy, and thank you, Debbie.
Very true. Definitely takes the whole team in front of and behind the camera.
Thank you as well! It means so much you watched!
Fun stories. I love hearing the recollections from others about scenes I wasn’t around for the filming of. Thanks for joining us.

I was raised in Canada by parents who were raised in England, so I totally understand the dry humor. In fact, I myself have that humor. Like Debbie, I was born in England and came to North America as a very young child. It was great hearing from her, and I am looking forward to the next segment.

You are VERY kind!! Thank you for watching!
Thank you, Bill. Keep healing. That wheelchair won’t miss you :-)
@@judynorton2598 Thank You Judy, actually I'm doing fairly well.
LOL
Since you worked with him and mentioned him in one of your last posts.

In the hospital in 2019 they gave me a month if they could not discover what I had that made me lose 80 pounds in six months. But I'm still here'
I figure that since I'm a lawyer God doesn't know what to do with me. Hell is full of lawyers (or soon will be from the sound of things ) and they have no need for me in Heaven because everyone's been forgiven.
I think I'll just stay here for a while because I m starting to amass more girl friends from "The Waltons" than John Boy had. Well O. K. he had lots more but he lost them all but one and it took a reunion show to get that one.
