    In this exercise video Meredith is walking you through a great lower body strength training routine using ankle weights.
    Ankle weights are a great tool to use when you are looking to add any kind of resistance to your workouts. They add a level of challenge to any movements no matter if you are seated or standing.
    For this beginner level routine, the movements will be all done seated and are meant to build strength in the major muscle groups of your lower body. You can also use dumbbells if you don't have ankle weights or just benefit from following along with the range of motion. Either way you will get a great lower body workout in.
    Remember to use a safe and sturdy chair, only do movements that work best for you and never force anything that causes pain or discomfort. Also don't forget to keep your water close by and have a great workout!

    Meredith, thank you so much for being an anazing trainer. I am 77 years old and my first time mking comment. I have been using this program and your stretch band program for a couple of months or more. I am so much stronger. I walk better. I stand better. Because of you, my health is better. I use both programs 3 times a week. Again, thank you for making this available to us seniors.

    Great workout, Meredith! I am so glad I found your channel. I wanted to ask you if it is advisable to wear ankle weights when just going about my day, or on walk..? I have heard conflicting oppinions. Thank you.

      Hi Varina! Thanks for the comment! Ankle weights can it a lot of pressure on the knees and hips, so I don’t advise using them for long periods of time. I hope that helps!

    Meredith, I am 75 years old and for a variety of reasons need to work on building strength in my legs. When I mentioned using ankle weights, my physical therapist was very positive. Here is (are) the problem(s). 1. I'm 6'8". It's a long way down to the straps. 2. I have no strength in my hands. If I can use them, I know ankle weights will work very well for me. I don't know if there is a product I can actually use. I live alone, so if I am going to use ankle weights, they need to be easy, relatively easy anyway, to put on. Thoughts?

    Would ankle weights help with gluts exercise, I just bought the ankle weights today and this my first time using them, I can really feel them working, thanks Annmarie 🙂👍

    Hi ..my left leg/ hip are much weaker than my right side so if I'm doing said leg extension with weights is it okay if I put in a bit more weight on the weaker side or shall I do more reps on the weaker side

      Hi! I would keep equal. You can slowly add more to both sides as you gain strength overall.

      Hi Peter, if you have any type of athletic store, they will be of great help! Ankle weights should be readily available in athletic and big market chain stores as well.

      Hi Linda! Thanks for the comment! Good question, as we are all different and at different levels . I say start 8-10, then progress 10-15. That is plenty of reps when using weight.
