In this exercise video Meredith is guiding you through another "BEST OF" series full body seated workout using dumbbells for resistance training. This is another one of our BEST series exercises that incorporates the most effective movements using the equipment and timeframe to help give you your best workout!
Using weights to add resistance is a great way to build strength and endurance within the working muscle group. For this exercise we are using dumbbells but you can always substitute by using water bottles or cans of soup. Whatever you have around you that you are comfortable with will work just as well:)
This is a completely seated routine and perfect for anyone just starting out or with limited abilities. The movements in this video are meant to work your whole body in a safe and comfortable manner.
Remember to only do movements that you are comfortable with and never force anything that will cause you pain or discomfort. Take water breaks when you need to and have a great workout!

Hi Meredith, after doing some your exercises for a while, today I decided to do this new session (for me). As usual I don't have the words to tell you what a fantastic coach you are. Your exercises are so perfect for a senior like me, always neither too much, nor too little. I'm not trained at all, and for some reasons I can't force or push my body to do everything I would, but with your teachings, your patience, it's possible almost everything, step by step of course. Every day, since I found your videos, I'm training my body, not much, just less than one hour. My priority is following your video "Seated Core And Abs Workout", absolutely great! After that, "Senior Fitness Seated Dumbbell Workout", but today I decided to do something more, so I found this new (for me) video. Awesome! As you know at a certain age (I'm 68), it's easy to lose muscle tone and very hard to gain muscles, for many reasons, and in my case it can be even more difficult, because of my issues. Thank you very much, you are an amazing coach! ❤😊

I've commented before on another video and I just wanted to let you know that with the help of your videos, walking on my treadmill, and a healthy diet, I've managed to lose 33 pounds!
I still have a long way to go, but I just wanted to thank you for these videos. As I said before, I'm not a senior, but your videos are perfect for me due to my limitations because of my weight.
I especially love the seated dumbbell exercises and the seated resistance band exercises. I do them multiple times a week!
My favorite part is that you take everything slowly and explain everything, remind me to breathe and sit up straight, and you tell me what muscle I'm exercising, that way I know if I'm doing the exercise right.
I also love the added warm-ups and cool-downs. I swear that I never feel so good as after one of your exercise videos! It just melts all of my tension and anxiety away.

Is it possible to build muscle if the young man with health problem do this?
It is always possible to build muscle...keep up your movement and strength training. Give the muscles rest in between, and keep going!

I have always exercised and loved pilates. I have had two hip replacements and, although I have no issues with them at all, I am not as flexible when it comes to plates or yoga. I gave up my classes and have replaced them with home exercises with Meredith.. I love them. I exercise every day and everything is completely within my ability. That depends on what is best for you...start low or just range of motion and work up.

Wow! Thanks for these great senior workouts. My 97-year-old mom had a tumble and had some compression fractures. Your workouts have helped her regain strength, mobility, balance, and confidence. Continuing with your workouts, I'm sure she will be in much better shape than before her fall. She looks forward to her morning workouts with you and complements you every time. I just worked out to this video and I feel like I could do this everyday. Thanks for all the muscle info and reminder of sucking in our abdomen and sitting up straight, each time you said it, I was indeed slouching. I'm getting resistance bands this weekend.

Couldn’t quite manage the whole workout. Will try again tomorrow. Also when my leg goes out to the side with the dumbbell on it my other leg seems to tilt outwards as well, can’t seem to keep it straight , anyone else have this problem. Guess my muscles must be tight.
You can do it Jane, all in time! With the leg, can be tightness of leg or keep the core tight and see if that helps. I’m proud of you!!
Is every other day ok. for Arthritis stage 4 of hips, or should I wait 2 days to recuperate?(Knees gone too!😅)
Definitely give a days rest between, but if the body needs another day give 2 days between. Always listen to your body!

Is there anyway you can get your ankle to spin around again my ankle only moves up and down the way you walk
Hi! That is tough to answer as I am not sure what other issues may be going on, for how long, etc. My biggest advice is to keep working on it, stretching and strengthening, work on the movements even manually using your hand to move the ankle in a circle.

At 10.36 mins, pls teach how the "shoulders" will do the lifting. I'm having a hard time doing this. My arms are doing the lifting sideways.
You should engage the shoulder and lead from there, so no throwing the weight around and pain in elbow or wrist.
