Patsy Cline was considered a cross over artist in the early 60s. “I Fall to Pieces” was a huge hit along with “Crazy”; and this one “She’s Got You” ; that were big hits on the Rock N Roll stations along with the country stations. She is considered a legend. You must do “I Fall To Pieces”; which is considered an all time classic. (make sure you do the studio version, so that none of the magic will be lost).
Cline was my grandmother's favorite. I had to look up the years, and I thought Cline was from an older era (40's). Apparently 7 of her biggest hits were from 1957-1963. I'm glad I know this factoid b/c it makes me feel I know when my grandmother was listening to this originally.
I'll tell you I don't know what you think brother but the best thing that Glenn Campbell Glen Campbell best thing he ever did would be Tanya Tanya Tucker brother he was married to her he's oh my she's sweet she's better she's some kind of sweet now she's got a lovely voice with that sexy body too and it's got a good song with love me like you used to and yeah it's Tanya Tucker the best thing
LeAnn Rimes may have come close, but no cigar. (She covered a few of Patsy's songs in addition to her first hit having been written with Patsy in mind.)
Patsy's voice shines in this song, but also standing out is backup by the Jordanaires, who also sang backup for artists such as Elvis and Brenda Lee, and that masterful piano playing from legend Floyd Cramer and his piano skills in this one really shines out among Patsy's songs. You've already heard the emotion that Patsy conveyed in her voice, but the song which has always been the one that just felt like her emotions were raw and right there, because she was apparently crying during the recording session, and you just hear it in her voice is the song Faded Love and she takes a little breath at the end that is just a masterpiece in recording history.
You mention the Jordanaires - the Judds, who they covered in another video today, did a cover of Elvis's "Don't Be Cruel" which, just like Elvis's version, featured the Jordanaires.
@@surlechapeau I may have this wrong, but I think I read one time that there was a several year period, like from 1955-65, where he played on 80-90% of songs that placed on the country charts...
Floyd's grandson is Jason Coleman. He plays piano in the style of his granddad. Check him out. He just did "Suspicious Minds" five days ago with other instrumentation. It sounds wonderful.
Patsy was best friends with an unknown artist at that time until she helped her pull her career too. LORETTA LYNN. they were amazing friends. You might want to watch the movie that told the story called Patsy and Loretta. Loretta has had her career started well in its full speed ahead then Patsy died in the plane crash
There is also Sweet Dreams which deals with Patsy’s career, and briefly Loretta’s, until the time of her death. It stars Jessica Lange as Patsy Cline and Beverly D’Angelo as Loretta(I may have those swapped but I don’t think so…)
My mothers singing voice was very much like Patsy's. A fond memory of mine from my childhood was when my family was driving home from visiting relatives and a Patsy Kline song would come on the radio. Mother would join in singing. Some of the most beautiful sounds of my life.
I had never heard this song until another reactor did it a few months back. I love how she meanders along as she builds that first verse, then drops the hammer with 'she's got you.' This is my new Patsy jam.
NEED to do "I Fall To Pieces" next! It reallly stands out among her songs. Also, some years earlier there was Kate Smith, who had an incredible depth and power. I suggest "God Bless America" and "O Holy Night".
Patsy Cline had a major influence on many other female vocalists like Linda Ronstadt and KD Lang. KD is someone who deserves some attention on Female Friday. I would suggest her cover of Roy Orbison’s “Crying”. She has an amazing set of pipes!!🌺✌️
Yes, yes, yes!!! I have been asking Jay and Amber to listen to k.d. lang for quite some time. And her version of Crying is the perfect song to begin with.
Yes ! .. That's my favourite by Patsy Cline, and one of my all-time favourite songs ! .. My second favourite by her is this one right here ( "She's Got You" ) .. Nobody could sing about heartbreak with such conviction and with such a wonderful voice as Patsy.
My Mom and I walked into Crossroads Mall and it was packed with people of all ages listening to a girl sing exactly like patsy! It was the most quiet the regular mall ever was. Absolutely beautiful. I miss that mall.
Fact: There is a plethora of fantastic female vocalists. Ultimate Fact: There will never be another more pure, more soulful and more able to reach to the depths of your soul than Patsy Cline’s. I Fall To Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Crazy (written by Willie Nelson) are my all time favorites.
I've heard this a thousand times before and you've heard it a couple of times, that means you have to hear it nine hundred and ninety eight thousand times more to love it as much as I do.

"Shes got you", one of her most pure and universal songs!!!! "Crazy"would go onto be the number 1 most played jukebox song in history. You guys should atch "Sweet Dreams", the movie based on her life, on your other channel!!! worth watching.
She could convey such a depth of despair and heartache, can't think of anyone else who could do it like she did. That raw emotion is evident in all of her songs, both happy and sad.
Now that you guys have your movie reaction channel, you really need to put "Sweet Dreams" (1985 with Jessica Lang and Ed Harris) on your list of movies to review. It's basically the story of Patsy Cline.
My top 2 favorite songs from Patsy is "A Poor Man's Rose (or a Rich Man's Gold)" and "Faded Love." But you can't go wrong! If you're looking for a more uptempo song, "San Antonio Rose" is uptempo. I have thought of being a Patsy voice impersonator as she's one of my early influences in singing. I wore a tape out of her singing "Crazy."
Some years back, I think in early 2000s, Patsy was voted for and recognized as the all time greatest female country singer and this was at least 35 or likely even many more years after she had died in a plane crash, March 5th 1963. There have been many true greats but never anyone like her. She was wonderful. I was so fortunate to grow up in the 60s that was just loaded with wonderful talent in the music world, from folk music, country, rock, blues, jazz and more. Mo town just burst on the scene with so many stars mostly with the backup music of the Funk brothers . There was Elvis, the Righteous Bros., the Everly Bros, Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and the Supremes and I haven’t even scratched the surface with those I’ve mentioned because I’m leaving out hundreds that were truly great on the world stage and deserve mentioning. I had just turned 17 and was a junior in high school when Patsy died.
Queen of country, Such a tragic death. Loretta Lynn (another queen )was her best friend and they toured together a lot. Sissy Spacek played Loretta Lynn and the great Beverly D Angelo played Patsy Cline in the movie Coal Miners Daughter. ( Great Movie)
I am so glad that younger generations are getting into classic greats. I'm old enough to remember hearing her perform on the Grand Ole Opry radio show. When she sang, you could hear NO audience noise over the radio.
After being gone for 59 yrs., folks are still buying & discovering Patsy Clines music. Patsy felt every song she ever sang & always has that cry in her voice. You need to listen to "FADED LOVE". Patsy was crying while recording this song(also Sweet Dreams) By the end of the song you really hear & feel her pain. Any song by Patsy is great. You'll have to listen some of her live recordings. If the fans/audience are cheering her on, Patsy gives the song 150% more of her great voice. EXAMPLES... The live "BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY", or "JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE" the high note she reaches at the end of this song will amaze you. Also a radio transcription of "I'M WALKING THE DOG". PATSY CLINE can get down with the best of them, if you know what l mean!?? I've read she was even better in person. Wish l could of seen her perform live. But l was only 2 1/2 yrs old when she died. There will never be another Patsy Cline!!!
The story goes that when the writer of She's Got You presented the demo for Patsy to listen to, she was so incredibly moved by this song that she cried for almost an hour.
You mentioned how her voice can put you to sleep. It made me smile. I was reminded me of how when I was around 3 to 4 years old my mother would always put on a Patsy Cline album to to get me and my sisters turned in for bed knowing that we would drift off to sleep in a matter of minutes. Sweet dreams indeed. Still so heavenly. Thank you for sharing. Love...
Poignant is a great word to describe this and other Patsy Cline songs. I hadn't listened to any of her music for a while and then listened to Crazy (my fav!) It must have been the mood I was in at the time but all of a sudden I was just waterworks! Just a fantastically expressive voice! I love your reactions to this!
I have to agree that you need to do “I fall to pieces” next! This woman is so legendary and iconic, and she was only with us for such a short time! Can you imagine the beautiful songs she could have done if she had lived to be in her 70’s? No one could or ever will top the late, great Patsy Cline!! ❤
I was so glad to hear u say the word effortlessly….. that’s a perfect description of how she sang. Her voice is almost silky & if u watch any of the recordings of her performing it was absolutely EFFORTLESS!!
I was 9 or 10 years old when my parents took me to Nashville Tennessee to an old church to listen to a concert. We sat near the front and some pretty good muscians performed. Then this lady came on stage. As she sang she looked down and straight into my eyes. There and then she captured my heart. Where ever she is now she still has it. RIP Patsy Cline.

1962 was a great year of music, and one you've not experienced much from (eight songs so far). If I might suggest some other tunes from that year (the year my sister was born), you can do: "Roses Are Red (My Love)" by Bobby Vinton; "Mashed Potato Time" by Dee Dee Sharp; "Johnny Angel" by Shelly Fabares; "I Can't Stop Loving You" by Ray Charles; "Green Onions" by Booker T & The MGs (great instrumental song!); and "You've Really Got a Hold On Me" by Smokey Robinson.
My sister was born in 1962 too! Patsy Cline was a big time country singer her songs were heard on most radio stations in the US…I didn’t even like country music but I liked Patsy! “Crazy” isn’t it?
“Green Onions”!!! Puhleeze 🙏🏻 Booker T & The MGs were the Stax-Volt house band, backing Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, et al. “Onions” is just a cool vibe and still on my playlist. Check them out b4 you do “The Blues Bothers” movie reaction.
Love this reaction. I forgot to add the movie Sweet Dreams to the music movie recommendations. That is Patsy's story. I also forgot Coalminer's Daughter ( Loretta Lynn Story). Saw Coalminer's daughter in theaters when it came out. Wore the record out, back when we had records. Lol
I'm going to assume you have heard her song Crazy. Which was written for her by Willie Nelson. There is so much great old country out there. I will send some requests. Some extremely good stuff. Classic country is some of the best music.
The piano musician in this recording and in I fall to pieces is the famous Floyd Kramer with his own slip finger piano style who had an instrumental hit called Last Date.
What's nice about Patsy, that voice was not enhanced like voices are today by technology. This voice was pure and natural.
Absolutely agree.

Sang with Elvis so much.

I didn’t realize that was Floyd “Last Date” Cramer.
But even though I’ve heard this 1,000 times I was thinking how tight the background and music is.

One of my dad and stepmom's favorite artist.
Yoooooo, I’ve been waiting on this one! Lol! Thank y’all sooo much! Great pre birthday starter! Y’all definitely made me smile today!
Patsy was amazing!!
All really good songs.
I love Green Onions! I am going to have to go listen to Mashed Potato Time since I am not remembering Dee Dee Sharp.
I really appreciate everything you guys are saying. It is very much the way I've always felt about Patsy Cline. She was something very special.
Voice of an angel. Clear as a crystal bell. Velvet talent
she has perfect diction.. you can understand every word.. not one of her songs can you not hear what she said, perfectly
I heart you BOTH
I Fall to Pieces was her breakout hit that crossed over from Country. You Belong to Me is also a stellar classic.
I love to see you young folks appreciating the great Patsy Cline, and many other amazing artists. I just love to see your reactions. 🙏❤
The piano musician in this recording and in I fall to pieces is the famous Floyd Kramer with his own slip finger piano style who had an instrumental hit called Last Date.
A wonderful and talented singer who left thi world much to soon. Luckily we have her music to remember her by.
As soon as I saw this I had to listen to more of Patsy, Thank you for the memories!
