When I was 9 or 10 years old my parents took me to Nashville Tennessee to hear a concert. The show was called the Grand Ole Opry and we saw several acts. Then this lady took the stage. As she was singing she looked down at one point, strainght into my eyes. Then and there she captured my heart. Where ever she is she still has it 6 decades later. RIP Patsy Cline.
Patsy is an icon and classic of classic 50's music... as you say,, mostly sad and suffering songs....but her voice and style is very good and unique... Sadly , like many others she died very young in a plane crash...... thanks for sharing Angela... your sincere reactions are always greatly appreciated !!!!!
Very good video! I really enjoyed it. You're very pretty by the way! Patsy Cline was exceptional. She could have sung opera, she had it in her and would have made a dynamite mezzo-soprano. She really have everything, looks, sincerity, guts, toughness, tenderness and of course the incredible, inimitable voice.
Great Reaction. Let me explain something you do not know. I am an old, old man. This was my generation. I grew up listening to her. People do not talk about her life and her history. Patsy put her emotions in every song she did. She was married to a very abusive husband who did everything to her. Now you will understand the lyrics of her songs.
Patsy was one of kind. Willie Nelson actually wrote "Crazy" for her! Angela, you should react to George Jones and "He Stopped Loving Her Today". You're such a hopeless romantic that I'm sure you will love it! Some say it's the greatest country love ballad ever written
"If you've got Leaving on your Mind" "Walking after Midnight" many others. I don't think she wrote most of her songs, but she certainly had a timeless voice.
She died way too early but she was so beloved. She had a much lower voice register than most people had heard women singing in mainstream music although this was more in the country world but she definitely crossed over. She just had the pipes and she can sing high pretty well but her strength was really in her lower registers with that deep resident voice for a woman. It's really fascinating and then she has all that emotion to go with it.
This is what I call beer drinking tunes, and they do the opposite of depressing for me,they actually get me going,I'll be laughing and singing like a fool with anybody that will sing with me, I love that stuff, lol
"Why Can't He Be You", "Leaving On Your Mind", "Walking After Midnight", "Faded Love", "Sweet Dreams", and "I Fall To Pieces", are CLASSICS, by Ms. Patsy Cline...❤❤❤
1963's Patsy Cline recording of "Never no more" is still one of my favorites of hers. I think you'll enjoy it to and the best part is it about finding the right one at last 🙂
What a voice! I believe that she influenced just about every female singer out there. I wouldn't say female singers of today because they're aren't too many good ones out there. She had that teardrop in her voice that could make you cry along with her. She was one of a kind.
I love your analysis at the end. I mean I've heard the song a bunch and even though she was before my time I have a deep appreciation for her as a musician and a singer myself and just that whole setting and context at the time. But I love your announce in the sense that you went ahead and acknowledged the hard uncomfortable truth of what she was talking about and just brought it right out in the open. I mean you can listen to the song and ignore the lyrics and it's beautiful but if you factor the lyrics in, it's so poignant, it's so moving. It's so complex.
As others here are saying, Willie Nelson wrote "Crazy" for her, but Hank Cochran wrote this one for her. I don't know whether they wrote them for her because she had a hard time with relationships or what. A lot of her songs were sad, though. One of her best known songs, "Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray" from 1957, has a similar theme as this one, and her very first single in 1955 was titled "A Church, A Courtroom, Then Goodbye." Her biggest 1957 hit, "Walking After Midnight," is happy, though.
One more sad song for that certain mood from Patsy's catalog. The song is called, SO WRONG. The haunting beauty is even more melancholy than this song. More than a few of her songs carry a haunted quality amplified by her voice. It's why we connect with them, why they still have meaning, why we still listen to them, and why we still care.
Angela, I think it's safe to say ever since you started doing these reactions and we see how great you are, I don't think you'd have a hard time finding a long line of suitors. :)
Here is an uplifting love song by Patsy Cline and written by Irving Berlin called 'ALWAYS'...you'll love it!!! First recorded on February 5, 1963, Released on June 15, 1964
Patsy Cline did a song written by Willie Nelson called "Crazy". Maybe you've heard of it? If you know the song "Crazy" as sung by Patsy Cline, you should check out Linda Ronstadt's cover of "Crazy". Linda pulls it off extremely well! Patsy's version has a little more angst in her voice. Linda's version is a little smoother.
Angela can I suggest Judie Tzuke 'Stay With Me Till Dawn' for a future Friday,? and then 'Safe' from the album Woman to Woman by Judie Tzuke , Beverley Craven and Julia Fordham. Both have gorgeous vocals.
Patsy was one of a kind, but if you want a taste from a different generation you should try K.D. Lang (Down to My Last Cigarette). When she started out she claimed to be the reincarnation of Patsy. She toured with her band: K.D. Lang and the Re-Clines.
So glad to see you enjoying the music I grew up with far too many decades ago. Have you listened to any Joe Walsh? If not I recommend "Life's Been Good" by him. I think you'll like it. Sometimes you have to go through a few (or a lot) of bad ones before you find the Right one. True Love IS out there, please don't give up. Please keep up the good work dear. Take care.
There use to be jokes about country music that either the song is about trucks, farms, tractors or break ups. I like Patsy Cline but, I like them as songs. Not a testament to life. The movie Sweet Dreams is nice. If I took every song that was depressing personally, I would be depressed a lot. I love Patsy but, just as a singer and the music.
This lady has awesome taste in great singers❤❤❤❤

You will always remember that.
Patsy was one of two female artists of her era that sang with a tear in her voice. The other was Brenda Lee. Thanks for the reaction!

I just love Patsy Cline, and this is one of my favorites! Her voice and intonation in this are wonderful!
OMG love Patsy Cline! What a voice!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Patsy was loaded with talent and it is sad that she died at such a young age.
AMEN.

The greatest Female voice ever recorded...
I totally agree.

Queen of the heartbreak. Gorgeous voice and delivery.
Country songs always tell a good story, and they always describe a slice of real life.
She is and was one of the great female singers. thank you! Several of her songs were written by Willie Nelson, "Crazy" was one.
A fantastic singer, One of my dad's favorites.

A great one. Well, all her songs are good. Thanks so much!

That song, along with Crazy...my 2 favorite Patsy Cline recordings!!! A beautiful, beautiful song.
Beautiful lady, beautiful voice.
Her version of "Crazy" is still the most played song on Jukeboxes ever.
Angela, I think it's safe to say ever since you started doing these reactions and we see how great you are, I don't think you'd have a hard time finding a long line of suitors. :)
OMG! I have to Prepare myself Emotionally before I can listen to Patsy's Amazing Voice singing these Gut Wrenching Songs! 😢
I don't bother to prepare, just go with the gut wrench. Need it sometimes.
I remember listening to this when it came outon my little transistor radio lol!
Beautiful!

Hank Cochran wrote this song for Patsy. He was a good friend of hers.
Best female country singer ever.
She transcends country music and is just one of the best singers ever.
The background singers are most likely the Jordanaires, famous for being Elvis' background singers.

Willie Nelson, wrote song for Patsy Cline
Wonderful voice and great reaction, try I Fall to Pieces, and Sweet Dreams by Patsy, Angela I think you would like them

No one can rip your heart out of you chest like Patsy.
I don't know much about her, but I know she left much too soon and left a great legacy!
Been there spent 18 years with someone just to end up with just the memories.
The best.
Written by Hank Cochran.
I don't know who wrote this song, but Willie Nelson wrote Crazy. Cheers!
If you're heart is not already broken Pasty will break it. It's music to drink at a bar alone
patsy cline -faded love

You should react to Angelina Jordan's cover of Patsy's "Crazy", recorded live in July 2022.
Elvis Costello sings a fabulous version of this great old classic!!
Imagine the music she could have made if she didn't get killed so young.
I've got one for you from a contemporary artist Ashley Monroe - Hands On You
❤️
Try "Walking After Midnight" next.
Heart Break never sounded so good 🤔✌️♥️
Sweet dreams is so very good. If you haven't reacted to it, you will eventually
"I fall to pieces " next?
Patsy makes me think of my big viking dad. Makes me sad.

Sorry you've had some crappy relationships. If only I was 40 years younger....
You'd have to get in line!
You're absolutely beautiful ❤️
Sorry but you would melt when you first heard Pasty. You are a statute
It's illegal here not to dance to Patsy. I don't have a partner so don't rat me out.
You analyze? Too much either you like it or you. Don't? It's about the music her voice that's it?
This. Is. For. You. Pasty
