  • This is a follow-up to yesterday's video where I unboxed & upgraded the already awesome Mojave Grom to brushless with a Hobbywing Quicrun 16BL30 ESC & Reedy 4500kv 280 motor.
    I was able to pin the trigger and get her scootin! I needed to check the temps as that Reedy motor gets hot.
    Let me know what you think and as always everyone stay well!

    Bro, you are a brave dude to be driving that little grom in the street of NY like that. There's people, cars and congestion everywhere. My luck, id end up crashing my RC, and would hit a $100K car. LOL Great videos though bud. I love the excitement you bring to the videos. Keep the Grom upgrades coming.

    You’re the only other person I seen open those, I did that exact same thing with my Mojave 4s. I also did the vent louvers on the front fenders.

    Another channel had a good point. Might a well get the 10bl60 esc rather than the 30. You can't have too much esc when it comes to heat and such. It'll fit just a easy and is only a few dollars more.

    • @bigbristv
      @bigbristv  15 днів тому +3

      No esc heat issues with the 30. It's the motor that gets hot. Thanks tho 👍

    • @ReactionRC
      @ReactionRC 15 днів тому +1

      I don't know why he said that because it's easily 20 dollars more. The 30 is around 25-30$ and the 60 is 45-50$ so if your on a budget the 30 is way to go.👍

      @@ReactionRC true, but to the average RC addict that's not a lot. Anyone of us with an Infraction or Felony spend nearly that much in tires every battery pack or two.
      I thought it was a good idea because I have more options in the future for the 60 since it'll go in more different vehicles if you wanted to change stuff up later on. I personally love the BL series esc's and combo's along with the Spektrum stuff and try to buy at least one every time I catch them on sale just to have on hand. I'm running the 10bl and 8bl combo's in at least a dozen rigs and haven't had an issue with one yet.

      My favorite too today last day 15% off too but place that sell LC racing had regular bl60 on sale for 40 bucks and I didn’t realize there’s a bl35 too that’s why there cars are so fast , I put bl30 in 14t to get rid of the lag or soft punch I have the mini Losi is why I went with the 30

    Having the fan blow air over the wires is super important. The wires are the weakest link in the system always. The balance of gauge for amperage is no joke. However they all get hot. So having airflow over the wires will help gain some more speed. The hotter it is the bigger the loss and then slower speeds. You’re on the right track.

    Heat rises, so I'd say up and out for the fan is probably best. They did a pretty good job with this little guy and those speeds are very impressive for that scale!

    I've tested this and fan directly onto the motor was way more effective than trying to pull rising heat up and away. Most effective cooling is a fan directly onto the can, as close as it can sit without interfering with each others magnets.
