Glad that you repaired this bowl and finished it man. Cuz it looks sharp. Really turned out beautiful man. The gold in the cracks really makes it cool. I love it.
You did good, knew you could do it & you did it.😁😁. The gold & greens with the walnut are really beautiful & I love it😍😍. Hope you & yours are safe & well take care 🙏🐕
Doug apart for the breakage, the outcome is fantastic 👏. The gold resembles inlets of a river flowing from the wood and with the green, reminds me of emeralds. Combined you struck it rich.🍻
Wow Doug you did an amazing job at repairing this bowl! Adding the vein of gold was brilliant! It turned out beautifully! Nicely done! I am sure who ever gets it will be lucky to own it! It was nice being in the workshop with you today! Have a great weekend!
What a great repair idea. The bowl is absolutely beautiful and that little bit of gold running through it turned out great. Thanks for sharing your repair.
The greens are great. The Kint Sugi is as well. The bowl is lovely. Great job Dougie. The project was the agony of defeat and the thrill of success. Well done.
Absolutely wonderful piece Doug! Congratulations and oh, if I hadn't seen you repair it I would never have known. The Kintsugi has given me a wonderful approach for some explosions that I just haven't had the heart to throw out. Thanks for all you have taught me and for your humility when something doesn't go quite right.
Well you fixed it good Doug! I quite like the fact that the gold doesn't join up over the top in places, it gives it a more organic look somehow. Beautiful job, nice save, love it!
Really lovely, Doug. Excellent and ingenius repairs. It was pretty before it broke, but the kintsugi-style repairs just makes it all look like it was carved from an emerald in matrix. The gold is such an appropriate material for repairs.
Did anyone else have their heart in their mouth the entire time the piece was being turned? I was sooo nervous it was going to break again! Turned out beautifully, though!
Yup, nicely done! Now, master the technique for filling cracks with resin. Had I not seen the final result on Instagram, cleaning out the inside like that had me fearfully waiting for something else to happen. I'm so glad this repaired so nicely for you, Doug.
The idea of a crack enhancement cracks me up. Yah. I'm still 10 yrs old. I love the idea of kintsugi so I'm glad you saved such a nice piece by not hiding the faults.
I'm so glad you were able to rescue that bowl - looks really effective. I would love to see you work purely in a gorgeous wood again, though - you don't seem to have done that for ages.
This looks absolutely beautiful 😍and I just love the way you were able to come back when most people wouldn't have tried! Love the theme music as well.
Have seen some of the Kintsugi style of art and it gets quite creative. I love geology and the gold mixed in looks like mineral veins in rock. Have you ever seen Septarian stone AKA Dragon Stone? The nodules are very cool looking and I bet you could replicate something like it with wood and resin. Like what you did here for sure.
Great result Doug. Loving the bowl anyway but the gold ‘welding’ looks brilliant and a great tutorial in how to fix the disasters we all get! Top work fella!!
Doug, This is absolutely Gorgeous! Love your idea of using the Kintsugi to repair this bowl! If you hadn't seen the before, it was almost as of it was intentional from the begining! Bravo Dong! A new favorite from your artistic designs!
Wow, what a coincidence. I had just finished an article where Kintsugi was mentioned when I came over to you tube to check out some wood turning. I couldn't believe it when your video was in my feed. Anyway, I was amazed at seeing your work. The bowl was beautiful before, but the kintsugi golden repairs have made it absolutely amazing. I love it that you are always finding ways to salvage booboos. Great work. Thank you for sharing.
Oh wow! Thank you Eileen, I am currently trying to figure out how to save someone else's work and he Mine ! should be interesting to see when we finish this collab.
hello doug again you will get a compliment from me for how you have created and repaired this bowl. the bowl has become a true beauty. despite the struggles grtz Renate
Wow Doug what a wonderful fix. It really is absolutely breathtaking... the gold is so pretty in there with the green and the black and as I mentioned before that grain of that wood is gorgeous. I knew you could do it. Thanks so much for sharing😘
It turned uot more than beautiful Doug. It is amazing, but this time Mr. Murphy was of help, though it was not showing in the beginning. A wonderful color combination and of course very interesting to watch the repair. Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for sharing. 👍
I love this save. I was going to ask about the other cracks in the wood and why you didn't do the gold in those, then I remembered you filled those in with the Starbond. Between you and Ken over at Moonpie I am always blown away and inspired to try new things. Again nice save and can't wait to see what else you have coming up.
Very nice, I am glad you didn't let the bowl get the better of you. I like the color choice for the resin against the wood. Thank you for sharing your video.
Greetings Doug, The smile on your face say's it all!! Well done you. That was a great fix and the finished bowl looks fantastic, as a turner myself I appreciate the satisfaction and the agony we go through at times. Keep smiling.
Been waiting for this part #2 video & it did not disappoint me! Great job with you Kintsugi type repair 👏 I absolutely love ❤ the way the bowl turned out 👍 Thanks for not giving up on this beautiful bowl 😊
Awesome recovery Doug! I had never heard of this technique before! Damn I wish I had known about it. All those projects I have tossed or changed to small plates. THANK YOU!! I guess I should search you tube more for those kind of challenges. I love the color match up too! Really pulled the bark line into view too.
Thank you Joe, I actually didn't know about it either until I blew up that last bowl I was working on and everyone suggested I look into it, this bowl was and easy fix so I thought I'd try it out on it first, I will be trying to fix the other bowl also soon.
Excellent, you did it!! So glad such a beautiful bowl was saved. The gold really went well with it. I'd love to see you just do those channels in a project just to create the gold lines. Really cool.
Some videos exist as a cautionary tail on how not to do things. This is one such video...
Thank you Mark, Hope you have a great day !
Hmmmm... would you care to show us how to do kintsugi the right way then? I'd be very interested to see this.
@@TheMessyStudio Sure. But I bill for my time, so...
Cautionary tale you mean... this is one such comment...
@@markdarragh6620 Typical troll response.
A lot of effort, but worth it in the end! Lots of visual interest with all the figuring and mixing of colors. Love the green with the dark wood.
Thank you Margaret
You’re like the 4th emergency service with your rescue here. Looks epic as usual. Have a great weekend.
Thank you Thank you

Absolutely wonderful piece Doug! Congratulations and oh, if I hadn't seen you repair it I would never have known. I personally would've used more green for the repair, but I do think that gold really does work!
Thank you green or black would have been my choice but many suggested I try this Kintsugi on it, give the viewers what they want
Beautiful! It looks like a mostly depleted mine of emerald and gold. Great work in saving this beautiful wok of art/craft.
Thank you for watching Kathi !
