Hey Doug no I didn't see that one buddy I didn't notice anything with the aluminum yet I'm sorry to hear they were covered in oil. But just run some with acetone and they will be fine. Sure appreciate you my friend and thank you buddy from that other doug
As always a pleasure to watch. And I am glad you take the time to show us what's going on with your beautiful bowl Doug. Have a great weekend my friend. 👍
First like!! Yayyyyyyy- Cliffhanger! lol You tease! Can't wait to see what you do with it, I really like how it's looking. It's very unique! Thanks for sharing!
I dont mind waiting until next week. It just means it will be even better than a 1 time video. Im looking forward to seeing the finished project! Thanks !!
It's good to hear your thoughts, more. That's where the interest and the learning comes from for me. Looking forward to the successful completion in part 2, Doug!
Mate. So enjoyed this and also the live feed to SK Krafts. This reminds me of a bowl i did last year using firewood cut into pieces. Was the first bowl i ever sold. Watching your clips was what made me try it and at the time i had to go around to a mates place to use his band saw to cut it up. They take a hell of a lot of resin because of the voids but are so worth it for the finished product. Cant wait for the finished bowl.
Hi Doug. Yeah, I’d guess that wood is punky. When turning, it didn’t even make ribbons, it just made dust. I’m excited to see the finished project! I’m sure it will be lovely. Those colors are beautiful. Have you ever turned manzanita? That is hard wood. I apologize if I already asked you that. That’s what happens when you go “over the hill”, the memory isn’t as sharp as it once was. 😣 I really enjoy listening to you talk at the end of your videos. It always makes me smile, and is a great way for me to decompress after a difficult day. Thank you! Take care, think peaceful thoughts, have a fantastic week, and see you next video! Hugs! 🫂🤗 *✨Roma🪄 🌲💚🌳🦅
Keep going you’ll get it done, I’ve had problems with ranger inks and resin. Consider trying out resin with and without ranger see if it makes a difference. ♥️
Hi there fella, Sorry this is giving you such a hard time. But I know the final outcome is going to be gorgeous! Can't wait for part 2. Thanks for sharing😘
Love the colours: All gorgeous, swirly blues and bluey greens! I have not, thus far, attempted resin work, but, from what I have watched, it would appear that carbide is the way to go, for turning tools: Evidently, traditional ones just blunt too easily... Just a suggestion: Have you thought of using a syringe to fill the cavities? Maybe more accurate placement, and less waste? Perhaps use that lovely deep blue, or, for contrast, that lightest greenish blue? Have fun!
Thank You Stephanie, well carbides have their place, if that is what you would want to use then yes they work just fine, the issue I am having with this project as well as the last one is DIRT ! dirt just kills the edge in seconds, carbide just last a bit longer but also dulls rather quickly, I tried to get all the dirt out but failed as you can see, lol
Tons of potential here Doug, can't wait to see the end result. I think the holes are simply air pockets, nothing to do with the resin imo.. Love your channel....!
Oh man... A pox on that resin !..pox I say !!...lol... Shelf life..probably..we all have them... Bless your heart...you're one determined man...I'll be watching..of course... Have an excellent weekend...see ya next week...🌿🌿🌿
It is gonna be purty when it is done! You said the root ball was actually harder than you thought, did You see Phil Anderson turn that tough root ball? You both are so talented!
If I had a nickel for every bowl I’ve half finished, I’d have about $4.55. I have three bowls with a bunch of pin holes like that I’m trying to finish. Use your vacuum. Look forward to the next one. BTW happy belated birthday.
I've seen guys use something called "Cactus Juice" to stabilize the punky wood so that it turns better... Maybe try that next time 😂 I'd post a link to some, but alas... no wrench. By the way, what were you thinking @3:30 when you were mixing the resin? Did you think that maybe it'd be your best ever? Anyway... let me know. I think we could talk about it some time. P.S. You could have "Liked 👍" My last post, I'm sure you meant to... Probably a glitch in the UA-cam. I can't wait to hear back from you, I'm your biggest fan.

Thank You George, I have a video where I start off cleaning up last projects mess, not sure which one it is though, pretty much I fill that can with one or two projects depending on the size of it
Question Sir? Do you have to make the dye such solid colors? Could you add just a tiny hint of color so you could still see through the resin and see the character in the wood? Especially a burl? Thank you! ~From Kate

Thank You Jim, depends on what you are using the wood for, Pen blanks or duck calls or anything small like that yeah I would stabilize them first, after that it's to expensive and time consuming to turn it all away onto the floor, I know I do it with the resin but in my defense, it's free to me,
Doug how many resin did you need to pour for this punky wood? Im astonished that you didnt use a dremel on these pieces. Would have been easier and faster. But Dremels cost money. Just a thought Doug???im a contractor of over 35years (that means squat!lol)but was thinking...there is a product that hardens punky soft wood.wonder if it would harden that punky wood befor you pour it?seams a problem with all wood turners!i know how hard resin is(i do lot of resin countertops and showers),and can imagine how hard it can be to sand it smooth also.ive used it on soft wood where the budget cant cover replacing all the soft spots.it hardens wood to point that it will hold screws solid.just a thought??
Thank You Dan, yeah Minwax makes a wood hardener, I used it before, I can also mix resin and acetone to make a wood stabilizer, then I actually have Cactus Juice wood stabilizer and a vacuum chamber, the acetone and the resin are the cheapest and easiest way to go, the rest you are wasting money by throwing it on the floor and I have to buy those products, I'll throw total boat on the floor all day long till they stop sending it to me.
