Even now, 2 years later, this video is super helpful to me. Thank you! I was intimidated by all those other 'how to start into videography' videos but yours encourages me to just do it.
totally agree, haha 1080 for the kids, 4K for that epic view! plus, when they get older, they will get to see the view they saw but don't remember. No point reminding them they got less cute as they got older.
Omar is psychic. I was just thinking of what video settings do I need if I'm just on holiday and I want to shoot casual video. And Omar answers. Thanks for the tips!
I am about to enter the Fuji family by buying a Fuji XS10 for my birthday. I remember watching you from your XT-20 days (even as a Panasonic guy) and loved the education I got for Fuji cameras and also your levity that made your videos fun to watch. Seems you have greatly advanced your knowledge over the years so will definitely continue to watch. Thanks for your contributions!
Omar: For someone who has an XT-3 and still has little clue as to how to use the multiple settings available your approach is really helpful. Thanks for the info!!!
Omar..you are the reason why i have become a photographer... Thanks for everything that u have been taught to us with very informative and funny way...I am sure there are lots of photographers who could shoot better pics than you but i have doubt that anyone could make a funny, informative and interesting video like u. Please keep up with ur good work and would like to buy some of ur merchandise.. Let me know if u have either online stores or web that I could buy and support your channel.
Holly sh@t! Where was you hiking? That’s some epic scenery - whoah! Like the video. Super interesting about the 1080p vs 4k file sizes. Had never heard nor thought about that before 👍
That was so good. For some reason, probably because I hadn’t a scoob about what I was going, have actively shied away from trying out video on my XT-2 and used copped out with my iPhone. Feel suitably confident about giving it a try this Bank Holiday weekend and just see what happens. That was so useful. Thanks Omar
Great practical information for us video "newbies". I want to focus on shooting more casual video, both on my X-T4 and my iPhone, but some of the info I have sourced can become quite frustrating. Using VND filters to help slow the shutter speed is great on a Fuji camera, but trying to do so on an iPhone, while keeping the weight low enough to not over-tax a gimbal's motors is a chore. Thanks for helping to change my thinking from "video excellence" to "video enjoyment".
Thanks Omar, that's a really useful video. I've been wondering what video settings to use on my XT30 as there are so many on the camera. When I used a camcorder I didn't even think about changing anything and was happy enough with the results on holidays. I'll give your advice a go and if the results are as good as yours then that's good enough for me.
Very useful thanks. I’ve been asked to do some casual photography at a wedding (not the official photos!) and I’d like to get some video clips too. As I usually shoot aperture priority for photography I feel happy that I can do the same for the video and not confuse myself switching too and fro! I should definitely practice first though!
Omar has an older video about video diaries that explains what he does. It was one of the first videos that I watched of his. It's a great idea for documenting your family without having to give all of your time to video.
Great tips Omar. I would add, as far as autofocus goes, just use typical Area AF-C and put your subject in the box. If it’s hunting because of low light or challenging conditions, switch it to AF-S and half-press the shutter to focus as needed during recording and it won’t hunt in-between.
Good advice....I always stress about audio when filming family/kid....still haven't found a realistic solution. External mics are such a pain, but internal mics sound so bad (also I have no clue how to process audio).
So the lowest 4k setting is the 100? nothing closer to the 50mbps of the 1080p? Just curious because sd cards get more expensive and less reliable at higher bitrates right?
Very informative . I don’t bother with video as I prefer photos . However, you have made me want to play with video once in a while and although I can see a
Place for video, your video has inspired me to give it a go. You see, i know there will come a time when I will want to do it ; rare as that might be, so thanks once again Omar
Would you recommend shooting at F2.8 on Fuji 16-55 or is F2 much better on 16 1.4 lense. I am thinking if its redundant to have both at 16mm even though 16mm 1.4 has macro capability.
Hi! Gud day! Im a vlogger from the phillipines and I'm using FUJIFILM XT 100. I notice that everytime i record vlog and my camera is on a tripod, whenever i move closer to the cam, it seems like the video is moving (floating) and whenever i distant myself to the cam, it gets back to normal (still video). I wonder if you could help me out with this one and whats causing it to float? Really looking forward to get an answer. Thanks brother Omar. Keep Safe and have a nice day. :)
Hi Omar ! Thx for the video. Is it possible to take a photo while making a little video ? For example I would like to take really short videos to make reels on Instagram without having to take my IPhone ton shot it before I take my camera for the shot I want. Just trying to adapt my work in the easiest way ^^
I'm really tmepted to buy the Fuji XT-20. The prices have gone down quite a bit since the release of the XT-30 How do you find the photo quality of the camera?
Hi! New subber here! Please help me! I have a Fujifilm xt30 and tried to record myself playing piano and it kept trying to focus/re-focus from my body moving and my hands moving! The entire recording was the camera trying to keep focus. I don’t remember what setting I had it on. Any direct advice for setting? Please and thank you!
It's such a shame there are no fuji prime lenses with stabilization! If you're like me with a body without IBS you're in trouble hehe. I'd love a stabilized 23mm (35mm full frame equivalent) lens for videography.
Aaaah, the “famous” exposure change stutter plague that affects all fujifilm cameras 😬 wonder how to get rid of it. Also, I miss having the all auto switch on my X-T3 :/
Ok, set up per instructions. Check. Take some vids. Check. Hold camera steady? And keep subject in frame? Ha, was that even in the instructions? Took 4 vids of less than a min each. Last one is actually ok. In a very non cinematic way. Imported to LR to view. BUT What now Coach???? Need an OMAR vid stat on what to do next!
Do you splice and edit video together, or just shoot short clips to view and send to family? Because H. 265 is more compressed so it's easier for saving & viewing, but hard on editing, the other is heavier in all those ways, but is easier to edit. GOP is faster also, it's less strain on the computer.
@@-grey I make 4 to 10 minute videos and post to youtube for my dad. Sometimes I add a still photo to the video. what do you recomend h.265 or h.264. long GOP or All Intra? I do not use 4K. I use all 1080p - that's just my preference
@@MichaelIzner right now, h.264 is easier on the computer, even if it is a larger file. All-intra is best for deep detail focused editing. Long GOP is the faster file in general. H.264 Long GOP at 100mbps is the way to go, until we all get snazzy new electronics that can handle H.265.
What?! Auto mode?! You're insane Omar. Everybody should set their video settings manually!! :') All jokes aside, nice video. I totally agree about it's important what you shoot, not how:)

That family footage was so precious, you seem like such a playful and good dad

Fantastic presentation. Finally there is practical information that we non professional can actually use :)
I bought a used xt20 last year because of you. I've been using it for 6months, I love taking photos with it.
The first video I tried recording with my xt-20 was 4k and I had to upgrade my computer in order to view it. 😂
damn, happen to me aswell. my 2013 mac couldnot handle my 4k footage
Omar. Thankyou. The best video beginners guide IN THE WORLD.

Super like this simplified video settings. I just bought my XT-4 and this is certainly helpful for me. Thank you, sir!
thank you for this! i’m really new to this and i couldn’t understand the other videos about this.
your so sympathetic mate - also appreciate the substance.
Thank you! This was exactly the kind of video I was looking for!
Exactly what I needed since I am trying more and more with short Movie clips on my Fuji. Thank you :)
Thanks, Omar. I heard my XT-3 did video but I wasn't sure.

That was most helpful, thanks a lot!
Insanely helpful and super appreciated Omar!!!
This is so useful. Thank you ❤
Another quality video, with real world advice.
what i gathered from what you said about 4k is that you might as well shoot in 4k. storage is not very expensive...

Useful info, thanks - would have been good to see how the various settings you mention are actually set up in the menus though

Drag all the clips into iMovie and export!! “San Francisco 2017”

Full auto turns on continuous AF. Otherwise, use face detection if your camera has it. If not, a ZONE in continuous should do the job.
