You are a Chad. No intro, no BS, no explaining in depth how everything works before giving the recommended settings. Just simple and straight to the point.
This is insane. My recording quality was totally garbage and couldn't figure out why. The internet is full of useless stuff. Your tutorial saved my day man! I changed it to my monitor size, cranked up the bitrate and now it records in amazing quality. Thank you so much for this. Liked and subscribed.
same, I'm able to record and get nice 1080p video, but with these settings, I'm unable to see the full screen as I'm recording, does the canvas size really matter in relation to the output scaled resolution?
@@Segwo ye i think so but with the full screen, ik how to fix that: set resolutions to 1928x1080 and then rihjt clikc the screen yhen hover over transform then fit to screen
I know this video is 2 years old but even after 2 or 10yrs this video will always be valued to many. I tried to schedule time but your schedule is full booked. Great job and keep up the good work.
Hands down, this is the best OBS Studio tutorial. This is probably the 3rd time I've set up OBS studio across my devices. You get straight to the point and walk us through it exceptionally. Thank you!
This is to the point, no bs, and best of all, no music in background or that thumping- high bass jungle crap music at the startup which is totally unnecessary for instruction videos. Thank you!! Good job!
YOU SAVED MY LIFE, I was worried I would not be able to record at this event (it requires 1080p) and you SAVED me! thank you so much and I am forever a subscriber of you.
My guy I appreciat ethis video so much. I was wondering why my uploads werent looking that good even though I had done everything right through the editor but never thought about the actual software i was recording with(OBS) until today and thank god your video was first. I did everything you recommended because my PC has the capabilities to do much more than I was currently using it for THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Thank you very VERY much man. I think after using your settings into my OBS for my recordings, it recorded the SMOOTHEST I've been able to manage yet, and I've been trying to dial this in since yesterday morning, lol. THANK you very much again bro. Life saver!
I am recording UA-cam videos for a mobile game I play and this tutorial REALLY helped me out. I was able to make my channel better and make some good scenes for my graphic designer. Thank you so much.
Thank you. Tonight I got fed up with Filmora and gave OBS a try. It's not that bad and watching your tutorial, I can sense that things will improve making my video classes. Thank you very much for this tutorial. I'm going to subscribe.
OMG this was GREAT info. I shall go back in to OBS, redo settings, and see if I can't create and upload a 1080 'HD' to youtube test video this time. UPDATE: I went into OBS, made all the changes you suggested, and did indeed get the 1080 output I was wanting to upload to UA-cam. HOWEVER - now I know what you and everyone meant about high cpu usage with OBS. With your suggested settings, my audio track lagged badly behind the video, and upon researching, I found I had to set my bitrate back to the very low setting, my audio track back to 160, and had to play with the CPU usage setting, finding that "FAST" gives me the best audio/video sync. As you say, I clearly need a new, more powerful computer to get highest quality. Thank you for your top notch instruction!
Thank you so much. I was wondering why my recordings are so bad but after following this tutorial is i discovered my bitrate was set to 2444kbps while recording at 1080p, 60fps, imagine that.
Thank you very much! I have just realised that I had my bitrate at 8000 and recording at 60 fps. Now I have upped the bitrate it looks so much better, thank you!
This is, by far, the BEST and EASIEST tutorial that I have ever seen in my life! Kudos to you, mate! I gladly subscribed, and I will book a session as soon as possible, due to the act that I need some technical help, and something tells me that you are the perfect guy for the job! Lots of love from Athens Greece ☺
you gotta be a wizard or something. for the longest time my videos look so bad, and now they look great! plus you took it slow enough that i could follow along without having to pause and back up the video a lot
I followed all your settings. Im using 1920x1080p 60fps on video recordings and my cpu reading is 5.3% on this Lenovo gaming laptop with Nvidia TRX3060 graphic card. Thanks for the info.
This was a great video. Direct to the point no messing around. After being frustrated with my video quality in my recent videos, I followed the advice here and sure enough I now have HD quality videos. Looking forward to seeing the improvements on my next video. Thank you again 🙇
Thanks I think a thing I may be dealing with is my type c cable might be too slow into the thunderbolt port which could be why my video pixels look bad even with the 1080 canvas. I'll update my cable and give another update here
Thank you so much for this amazing video now I have solved my problem and I am in love with your guides!! this video helped me a lot and I haven't wasted my time watching this! thank you!
thanks bro. Actually insane on the improvement. Better, but I don't think it's EPIC quality like those I see from gaming content creators. This is probably due to my PC. They probably have high tier stuff.
I have been cranking out these episodes Kraken, and I sure am glad people are watching them. LOL. If you want to watch more of my OBS Studio catalog of videos, here they are: ua-cam.com/play/PLlM_xT8ActQHCEgNi7gyjFLMFjBBavqYi.html. In any case, best of luck recording and streaming!
i already stopped watching after i heard him say THERE IS NO REASON TO NOT USE MP4.....i mean, its one click more to do to be 100% save to never lose a recording if obs hangs up or you get a bluescreen. And there is literally ZERO Reasons to not use mkv format, its exactly the same quality and even the size is literally the same after remuxxing with the OBS Option. It takes 5second...its just the container format. . But now that i read your comment, where he really admits that the quality stays constant believing a constant stray of the same bitrate is in any way better than adjustable bitrate...idk. You want lossless quality you need to tweak some CRF and CQP options. Anyway, this tutorial is sadly not the deep dive nerd mode that i was looking for. Maybe he meant it different and knows the difference but how he tried to explain it, sounded wrong... . If you have a nice Video about individual CRF CQP Options i would love if you share it here for me. I havent found anything good...have a nice day.
I stop here too haha I expected a deep discusion about CRF capped , a graph bitrate viewer , how shots with more motion needs more infomation to keep quality stable... but.. They say 'the best e CBR'. haha shock
Preferably actually, the filesize improve and the video result is more steady, You just have to find the CQP value that fit your hardware and not overload it.
At 2:10 you said I had another stop before I hit okay, so I hit the subscribe. My next stop, the rest of the video. I love hearing you say your next stop. NEXT STOP. :)
Question when it comes to recording format; I've always heard that MKV is preferable, on the off chance something happens (OBS crashes, power outtage, etc.) you can recover the MKV file type easier than the MP4 Is there a difference in quality when it comes to either of the formats?
Funny, you have the same Gunnar Sheadog Frames I do. Mine are prescription and have had them for over 7 years. Love 'em! By the way, thank you for the vid!

5:45 WRONG , it is the BITRATE that remain constant in CBR and NOT the QUALITY.
If you want constant QUALITY the preset to use is CRF / CQP
i already stopped watching after i heard him say THERE IS NO REASON TO NOT USE MP4.....i mean, its one click more to do to be 100% save to never lose a recording if obs hangs up or you get a bluescreen. Your tutorials on OBS are fantastic! Can you comment on using CQP as an alternative for controlling the data rate for recording?
Preferably actually, the filesize improve and the video result is more steady, You just have to find the CQP value that fit your hardware and not overload it.
Does CQP automatically choose the best bitrate? or do you recommend CBR if we uploading to UA-cam
