My dad would say "just because someone is dead in the ditch don't mean they are innocent" my grandmother shot threw her back door at an intruder about 2:30 am, he woke her up jerking,twisting and ramming her door, she opened up on him with a pistol and he ran off the back porch and disappeared never to be found by the police, later in life I myself moved to town and this sort of thing kept happening, but a man was found dead under a house that had been vacant for many years, we wondered if it was him but other people had the same problem, she was also broken into and was laying in bed asleep and turned over to find a gun to her head, from then on she slept with a gun, not sorry about anything that happened to an intruder.
Gack. I woke up to Mexican standing next to my bed, staying overnight. With my 2 little boys in bed with me. I started speaking to him in Spanish, and talked him out of the motel room. Cops picked him up as soon as he left out.
Last night my big dog woke me up barking, and I woke up hearing someone trying to shush her. I yelled out, Don't f'ing tell my dog to shush! She ran them off 😊.
We have a store of sandbags on our property placed in what looks like raised garden beds. Can be very quickly redeveloped across the front and back of house as bunkers

Where I live people keep Chihuagas and Russell Terriers along with Dobermans or Mastiffs. The little dogs are wired and get the big dogs on point.

I always plant Thorned plants under windows as a detergent for people trying to get in thru windows.
I need to figure out how to secure a hurricane front door that opens outward. My door can not be kicked in, but it can be crowbarred open from the outside. Im sure whomever will be breaking in knows exactly how to open these kinds of doors.
I've thought about a bar that can be slid across through brackets that are drilled into the door.
Does anyone have a over the counter solution?
Im not very handy with tools, and i only own basic tools.
Im a Chef not a handyman.
Raspberry or blackberry bushes are great and you can eat off them in the fall, that way you can funnel them the direction you want.
I use the driveway alarms as a driveway alarm / perimeter alarm around my home. I used the one that looks like a small owl. Each alarm has its own tone or you can set it to say it designated area like garage front door backyard Etc. We also have several cameras outside. And this might be overkill but extremely bright LED floodlights around the house with back up motion solar spotlights in case the power goes out. Last but not least 2 XL American bullies and one Pit roaming around our home. We live in a remote area of North Western NC on several acres of land and 0 neighbors.
I use the same ones. I have 4 alarms and 2 receivers. They're great
I have the same type of motion sensors. Work well.

All Ring footage is stored by a third party. Eufy and a couple of others just record locally, and to your cell phone. Much better privacy than Ring.
Also keep a laser pointer available, if one has a “hole puncher” with one even better but a laser could fake someone out until you can get 911 going and get to other defense tools
If you live in a municipality with building codes, be aware they may require all exterior doors open inesrd (snow country) or outward (hurricane country) with no grandfathering for replacements.
I live in California and think of Reginald Denny and the cop about a 100 yd away watching it happen putting out a cigarette and leaving

I like that about no back lighting, I don't do this already and some times we sit up over night watching because there are already trespassers in and around the house, one night I heard some one go by my bedroom outside, soo i got up and snuck outside because my brother had company at night sometimes, it was dark and I followed close but this person could not see me, I just wanted to growl but didn't know if he had a gun or weapon, but I did, and poked him from behind as I crouched down, he then knew he was not alone and I was camouflaged, when I was a kid we would climb trees and watch people and they never seen us dropped some water balloons on one of them as a joke as it was Halloween, my dad was a marine and we learned a lot, and if our after dark we learned to lay low and be quiet, the funny thing about a thief that puts his stolen items in the back of his truck or his cab and goes back for more might find those things are not there or you are waiting for him in the cab with a gun, and know what your going to do if he pulls one. I first call the police, this person never thinks they are going to get caught, and with the whole family of 6 everyone has a gun, and a good light to take a picture with, if they don't come your going to get handcuffed from behind and your feet handcuffed to the steering wheel, or you could get tied to a tree in the woods and left there. You can go to jail or go to the woods for ever.

Ring offers some solar floodlights that link to a solar camera. When the floodlight sensor or camera sensors are triggered, the floodlights and camera come on to light up the area. It is a great early warning system for activity around the perimeter of your home.

I have little outlet plug in lights that light up on motion. They're actually defective very old and go on and off all night for no reason. I left them as a deterrent so anyone outside will always think someone is home.

That south african scenario, I heard about from a farmer working in the U.S. as a truck driver.
The 3M "security shield" is incredibly strong. It is designed to keep glass shards from being blown inward from a mob or explosion.
But putting in hurricane windows will give you equal safety and if they are energy efficient, there may be tax breaks.
I love this product. I'm having it put on windows of my vehicle and inside door panels if possible. Home windows and doors too, of course.

@@john7m7usa look up 3M authorized distributors in your area. You'll find someone who is qualified to do the installation.
Berkey still is uncertified. They dkn't want to pay the high costs for it. So there is no "official" certification of what they will or won't filter. There are certified competitors.
The cord for garage door is important, get a lock for it, they make them.
When we lose power here sad to say, I have to use that to get out of here. I actually have a generator so I’m pretty good. But in a real emergency I’ll pull that and I’m getting out because my truck and my cargo in my garage I do not leave any vehicle outside of my house without protection so they’re all garaged everything everything I own is garage.

Buy 2 , 5 gallon food grade buckets from Lowes, and a apex filter on line, build your own filter, save some $$$ .also you can get a light that will attach to mag tube on shotgun with a pressure switch u can mash with thumb

If you load your own you can load 30-06 light so you get less over penetration. Since an M1 is gas operated you have a lot of variety of loads it will take.
How do you protect a house from being burned down?
Man, i have all my mags full rifle, pistol all of them are full and ready to use. I did an experiment just the other day. When i turned 18, i bought 4 mags, 2 ar mags, and 2 glock mags, not factory mags. And i filled them up. i just shot them 12 years later and 0 issues..and yes i was impressed.

Question: I live in an apt complex. The guy across the courtyard downstairs is about to blow. He has an AR and my unit is in the prime spot if he walks out of his unit and starts shooting. I need to know what to do to bullet proof my front door and front bay window.
Body armor. Buy some before it's not legal for civilians to purchase anymore.
Put a metal sheet over the window that is thick enough it will deflect the bullets. Same with the inside of the door.

Offering medical aid to a wounded home invader is not a good idea at all. It opens you right up to get sued.

@@chrissewell1608 Not even a little bit. It can actually work against you in court if it makes it that far. Apparently it raises questions about your intent. On top of that, dead men both tell no tales and cannot pose a further threat to your family.

Guess we can boile it down to over all safety. And I know we can't compare the US to Denmark (or the rest og Scandinavia).But here in Denmark we are 6 million people and last year we had approx 39 murders. The US has far higher murder rate, but again you can't comepare the two countries. I enjoyed the presentation but I would have preferred to have had him use more widely carried defensive ammunition such as Federal HST 230gr or Punch 230gr. Nevertheless, this was a good review of the Ruger LC.

In the States, you talk about safety, but you have n't got some shutters on your windows and doors. Here in europe there is this on each home. You have got some strange habbits.

I look around the property for backstops where it's safe to fire right now I'm down to 9 dogs and have 8 cameras 80' night vision I've come to the conclusion that the police are not what they were in the 40's, 50's & 60's they can be a problem..
I have 4 very well trained "dogs" all over 150 lbs. And 8 cameras that record to cloud. And myself and neighbors are armed with an army like arsenal. And many other deterants. I sleep well.
None of those things will stop a supernatural entity. Unlikely it happens to you, but it does happen to others. Some of these things you just cannot deal with in conventional ways.

Too many commercials interrupting, but I like this video, we have rottweilers, no one pets the guard dogs, and what is the law about boobie traps that detain an intruder but not kill them but they have a gun or weapons, I had a police officer came to the house one day and told me to shoot the intruder and he is going to come throw him through the window, why?! because one night I was asleep by the screened window at summertime, he took my screen off and put his hand on my stomach, and being touched woke me up. Now the dogs sleep with me.

Locking your car is a joke. Anyone can still punch through the side windows. But, there is a 3M security shield for cars, which makes it extremely difficult to penetrate a car window.
