EXCELLENT VIDEO One thing I never leave the house without is a plastic bag I get from any store. The bags they use when you purchase items. The bag fold up stick it in my back pocket, You can use them of 100 different WAY. ...... Use like a GLOVE.... CARRY STUFF... COVER STUFF..... ON AND ON.. TRY IT..
I highly recommend the books ‘Where There is no Doctor’ and ‘Where There is no Dentist.’ I was a missionary in the Amazon jungle in Peru, and those books were invaluable! Also, just having a basic First Aid book on hand will be a big help.
Better book is called ditch medicine - where there is no doctor refers you to prescription meds - there may be none - but ditch medicine refers you to old school techniques to do the same thing
I’ve been prepping the basics for years duct tape paracord extra clothes and boots mostly military stuff tarps extra socks and so on when you get older you tend to want some of the comfort stuff lol like power and hot showers and good food me and my grandson went up to cabin for 4 days we tried the ready hour spaghetti and added beef to it with some yellow corn and garlic bread it was so much food that one bag took 7 cups of water we ate on it for a big lunch the next day too lol !
Steel wool and peppermint will keep the mice at bay. If you don’t have caulk stuff steel wool into some of those cracks and large spaces. They don’t like it. They don’t like peppermint either. Take those left over candy canes, break them up and place them in places where you would put decon or some other poison. Lots safer for pets and children. Great video. Thanks
Several years ago I was throwing away an old backpack from college with a ripped shoulder strap and before I tossed it, I noticed all the buckles on it and realized that they might be useful so I cut them off and have used a few since then.
I think for security that shutters should be applied to homes like shops so that at night you can just pull them down like stores do! I reckon one day in the future this may just be the case
I found an online Mexican pharmacy to order antibiotics from that is fairly cheap. Also, I have started fermenting honey with garlic and ginger for a natural antibiotic. It REALLY works, Ive already tested it on a flesh injury on myself!
Something else very useful is a good stapler. Combined with the trash bags it's a quick way to temporarily fix a leaking roof, a broken window or even build an entire shelter in the woods. You can also staple together joints on wooden objects like a drawer that's falling apart or fabricate wooden frames for whatever purpose.
Caulks, sealers, glues, and some tapes have fairly short shelf lives, so only keep limited amounts on hand, but remember to rotate those items out every year or two.
Solar has no moving parts shoot for 240 Watt Photovoltaic (Trina Solar) with Deep Cycle BattleBorn Batteries! Easy plug and play you can build your own system for 4-7K buy 7 modules online and save half the cost on a used 3000Watt Inverter. Then add a 60amp Charge controller so you don't overload your 6 Batteries then have roofers install array followed by a Master Electrician Plug it all in! Be sure to apply for all State and National rebates then go back the following year and install a transfer switch so you can switch over to full Off Grid mode otherwise when the grid goes down so will you!
If you buy good real reliable products in the first place they last longer than your conventional cheaper products. Example shoes spend $100 or more on a good pair of shoes or boots like keen. I am very very very hard on shoes boots whatever and those last the longest like two years, so spend the money on products but actually hold true so you can be more prepared for the long term.
I bought some flex seal sealing tape and the edge of the roll was so sticky that I had to wrap it in waxed paper to keep it from sticking to anything I set it down on.
Regarding the question about the expiration of medications - a pharmacist told me that they are required to put an expiration date on the prescription bottle that is no later than a year from the date dispensed but the master bottle the pills came from may have a later date of expiration so ask your pharmacist and write that date on the bottle.
Electric, painter's tape, metal tape. Dry loc paste and paint. All the flex seals. I'm 57 years old and in a 3rd floor tiny apartment and im trying to have those also.
I always recommend getting a very good shotgun for back up self defense. Reason being, if you have a good fighting shotgun it’s super cheap compared to rifles to stock up a bunch of good defensive ammo. I like to have a good back up option. Plus you can get 12 ga anywhere. I also recommend slugs too. Reason being, I always think worst case scenario all the time and if I’m loaded up with buck shot, I can’t make a precision shot if I needed to. Nobody can. It’s impossible to control where all your lead goes with buck shot. But I do have buck shot as well obviously because it is a very very viable option.
For anyone interested or those who have the money 3M DT17 duct tape is a tape ive used in industrial settings. Its an all weather, indoor, outdoor tape that never budges amd those who work in industrial, hvac, or telecom know what im talking about. Then there's also 3m 3979 duct tape which is contactor grade duct tape and in my personal opinion the gorilla tape he mentions is the only thing that comes close.
I like nails and screw etc organized like you do. If you do use cans, you can dump the contents out on a towel, find what you want, then use the towel to pour the rest back into the can,

On bolt guns. I have a couple of bolt action rifles in lesser availability calibres, which I intend to use for hunting to save my other rifles for potential combat situations. Long range combat bolt actions are also good Alas Babylon is very good. Also Pulling Through by Dean ING
You may also add lubricating jell (personal lubricant/ KY Jelly) to lubrication list for anything rubber (O rings, gaskets, seals etc). Can't wait for all the jokes but it doesn't deteriorate rubber products like petroleum Jelly. It's also sold in pool stores but smaller tubes & more expensive.
I would add a couple things to a list: Cyalume light sticks, and solid fuel stoves. Inexpensive and lightweight. Different levels of light intensity and duration can be purchased for lightsticks. Even the cheapies at Halloween for the kids will do in a pinch. Good shelf life. And another easy item to keep for repairs, Seam Grip. Keep a couple tubes on hand for many materials repair.
To add to my preparation for home here and my off grid cabin I just got a solar generator with panels is made by Lion Energy which is a great company it’s a 2000 watt and will keep us with power I also bought a dual fuel generator for here at home I’ve got one at the cabin too I can transport the solar gen from place to place I’ve been wanting it for years just waited for the best technology to get here lol !!

Car batteries are junk for solar. You could use marina deep cell batteries. Flexible panels are junk and might last as long as 5 years. Glass surface, metal frames regular panels last at least 25 years. I love Harbor Freight panels for a cheap emergency set up. The amorphous panels they use pick up even the allest amount of light/sun power than any other panels. But they only come in 25 or 10 or 100 watt powers. I've had mine for 7 years and they are still in great shape. But use a better mmpt controller and not the pwm that comes with the kits. Midnight invertors are great but expensive. ? Epever China version are pretty good but not expensive.
Car batteries work with solar setups they just have low amp hours (usually 60ah) which means you need much more batteries for a decent amount of ah. For reference: we have 4x 120ah. For panels, we just matched wattage with the Inverter so even when the batteries die we have power during sunlight, but you can use ohm's law to figure out exactly how many watts you need at 20v charging

Fish antibiotics are so weak it would cost you 10 X as much minimum to equal a prescription. Ask your family doctor to give you a prescription for your emergency kit. We are talking maybe needing 800 MG or more for 1 dose.
I have been looking for recommendations for hardware to stock for SHTF. I have cases of standard nails, screws and small bolts. I plan on stocking 10 pieces of 1/2 and 3/4" PVC pipe. several cans of PVC glue. I need 10 sheets of 1/2" plywood. I even have some window glass and putty. All of my tools are mechanical of Ryobi and I made a solar battery charger for the Ryobi.
PVC cement is another item with a short shelf life, even when unopened. Don't store more than you will use in a year or so, and rotate out fequently. Once you open a can, store it upside down. That will seal any small leaks around the lid for max storage life. And, NO, you can't reconstitute old glue by mixing in some fresh primer, no, no, no.
Id love to see how to make traps. Im not one to hurt animals. Butbif shtf, and wecdont have mutated diseased animals from being nuked..id want to at least know how to make a trap. It depends on the circumstances. The closer the better. Your ability to get together to help each other is what matters. In most dire circumstances that could mean walking. The other consideration even with vehicles is your ability to get across the terrain/traffic congestion. If you intend to bug in your best team would ideally be your neighbors/neighborhood. If you are planning on evac to a prepared site you want members to be people with a realistic route/means to get there. It does not matter how great Frank is if he never shows up. I would say a good guide would be to try to keep members in the same quadrant outside a major metro area within an hours walk if possible.

One glue/tape that you forgot to mention is pine sap and its a medicinal use too
