At least 2 styles of diverter dependent upon brand and type used. Push/pull and turn left and right.

I moved into a house that has a right left knob (diverted) that will switch the water flow from the showerhead to the wand. I have a really bad drip from the showerhead and if I switch the knob to the shower wand, then the drip comes out of the wand. Could it be the diverter that is causing this? Thank you so much for your video it explains so much!

Thank you. I’ll be asking my plumber to fix. Now I’ll know what to tell him. 😊

You are forgetting the little piece that goes inside of the pipe and we need the SEAT WRENCH in order to replace it, and it got to fit the seal with that piece.

I replaced my diverter valve and now it doesn’t send water to my shower head. Can it that when I took out my old valve the washer was broken, could the broken piece got stuck where the water goes to my shower head. Cause now it just drips water from my shower head. Thank you 🙏🏽

I have the 70s Kohler shower valves replaced washer and o ring. I still have a leak but only on diverter when water is turned on. Where do you get replacement valves and parts?

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders

Thanks for watching Steve, you may want to remove diverter & install a new o-ring. Although you just installed a new o-ring, it may have gotten pinched, offset, or damaged during install.
If that doesn’t fix leak, the next thing to address is your internal seat. Please keep us posted, we DIYers need to stick together!

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders The o ring I replaced was on the hot valve. I'll replace the parts on the dieverter. Thanks!!

Thanks for the reply, that means that your HOT water stem is leaking. That will need to be addressed.

just replaced my hot/cold water stems, as well as my shower diverter valve. I made sure I replaced each one appropriately, however, there's still a small leak allowing water to drip, drip, drip from the faucet when all is turned off. Additionally, when the water is running into the bathtub, I've noticed water is leaking from the diverter, just behind the knob, running down the wall. I've checked to make sure everything is tightened up & that the all the gaskets are positioned properly. I have no idea what's causing the leak. Please help.

Thanks for watching & sorry to hear about your troubles. Since you have replaced all stems, the next most probable cause is a damaged internal seat. Below is a link to our video showing replacement of seat.

This didn't help with my situation, I have a Delta three knob shower tub setup. The diverter is bad and both the shower and tub run when the water is on.

And the leak is coming out the shaft of the diverter, not the tub tap, not the shower head (faucet).

You can find the model/brand of your unit by checking all parts and locating the name of the company that produces/manufactures your exact unit.

So how do I buy a new bevelled neoprene washer and replace that? I can take the diverter out of the system using 10mm spanner I can see that the washer is worn. Who in Australia will sell the requisite washer for an Ideal Standard diverter valve that was possibly made only 10 years ago? Or is this just another crazy piece of modern plumbing with designed built-in obsolescnce that means I have to rip the entire system out of the wall? How do I find which model this thing is
    ?

Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. You can do a full makeover with your system & have the diverter tied into your handle. You can transition from a 3-way system to a single stage system.
Most people hire a certified plumbing technician for this procedure as it will be installed to proper code. Hope you enjoyed the video. Hope all is well.

I just changed the diverter for my spout and now it’s leaking at the wall/beginning of spout. Is this the reason why?

Did you screw it in tight enough?

      @LostSoul805 4 роки тому +1

Man-Eating Monkey yes I did, I sanded the new diverter down to fit proper but it didn’t want to close all the way. I used the old tub/shower switch with new diverter and boom. Now it works. I did measure them and the new one from home depot was almost 2 inches smaller than the original lol..
