My shower has been dripping for months if not over a year. When my house was built in 18 my plumber told me this was a specific shower and any maintenance would need a plumber. Thanks to this video, I went to HD grabbed a cartridge and within 7 minutes had it changed out and fixed. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Great vid - very helpful. I have a Moen shower faucet, which is of course built a bit different, but the basics from this video apply. For original residential owners of Moen faucets they have a lifetime warranty against leaks, so I just called them up, told them my issue and model number and they shipped a cartridge out to me free of charge. No receipt required!
I'm like you. I'm always hesitant to get involved with any kind of plumbing. But your video has given me the confidence to take on the same job. Thanks
Thank you my friend, you detailed this DIY video to perfection…my wife is so happy now that this dripping has came to a stop. You saved me some money and shortened up my HONEYDOO list …Thanks again
Thank you!!! Your step by step tutorial was to the point and informative. I will be using your tutorial to change out my MOEN cartridge that is causing the same issue as was your Delta cartridge.
Video was very informative I have an old shower valve mine is hot and cold I'm still going to have my plumber man come and do it for me he's going to charge me $350 for parts and labor but I still love your video very insightful very informative
I had to get new delta valve seats for ours. The new style valve seats do not work on this older style faucet, I finally fixed it by getting them from true value. They had a pack with the old style delta valve seats and the new.
That cartridge comes apart with on twist and there is 2 springs and 2 black seals. That is the reason alot of time for the leaks two. If you expand the rings slightly it can fix the problem with no need for a cartridge, you can also but the springs and seals that are inside.
Thanks I was able to fix my issue using your video. Had a piece of pex stuff in the rubber and mesh. Took it out and it stopped leaking. House is only a year old so I did not think it was a bad gasket yet.
I have a tub with a shower wand. Water seems to slowly build in my faucet, and eventually leaks out, so I changed my faucet to a newer model. It doesn't build up as fast as it did, however, it still will leak over time. Is it possible that it's my shower wand?
I had my delta cartridge replaced, which was very difficult because of the corroded water that kind of sealed the old one in. Now we got a new showerhead and that is leaking nonstop, drip drip, drip any suggestions? Thank you.
Thanks for this video. I'm in the same boat. Don't love to touch the plumbing or electrical but dang If I can afford to pay someone in this economy. Thanks again
I had this same problem house is 25 years old everything looks and works good just that leak.i called local plumber he came a couple hours later quoted me $450.00 to do what you just did so I've ordered parts and strap.
I'm the same way.. also a Patriot.. military vet.. I also do things myself but am hesitant with electrical and plumbing.. those are the 2 things I'm not 100% comfortable with.. I also use the same face wash you have in the background.. lol
Hey gotta question the vent hole outside my home leaks into my flowerbed could it be my faucet just leaking from the running water or the pipes in the ground please let me know 👍
Great video, but 2 suggestions: 1. Give that pipe in the wall a wipe before installing the new cartridge. 2. Before installing the decorative covers, turn the water on and check for leaks. It will at the very least give you peace of mind knowing you did not introduce a leak inside the wall.
Thanks for the video. I changed the delta valve cartridge but still there is leaking from the showerhead. Do you have any recommendations for what to do in this case?
Okay thanks for the video I replaced the cartridge out everything back on turned the water back on ran it followed the last steps and BAM! I still have a drip from my shower head! Any ideas now?
Ty for the vid - also hilarious electrical and plumbing are the ones I am not nervous about, where you are the opposite! Too bad I’m in the northeast we could trade work! 😂
I will not fix anything to do with doors 😂 Simple plumbing and electrical issues are not a problem, just doors! Cabinets, drawers, room doors - unless it’s simple planting WHILE the door is hung I won’t touch it. Thanks for the great video! My husband thanks you!!
I'm fairly confident with most DIY tasks but I will not touch gas. And here's why. I give you advance warning - laughing at my misfortune is encouraged. As a 17 year old I worked in a hotel and the hotel cook asked me to take a look at the fryer. She had tried to ignite it but it didn't want to play. So I followed the instructions. Turn on the gas valve. Wait a couple of seconds. Push the match though the pilot light hole. Nowhere in the instructions did it mention "BOOM". Flying through the air, or losing most of the hair on your head. Apparently "cookie" had tried many times and there was a large accumulation of gas, just waiting to be ignited, hanging around the hole where you push the match through, to light the pilot light. My second gaseous experience was during a military exercise. One of the younger guys, let's call him Sparky, came up to me one night with a gas lantern. He had tried to change the gas cannister but had cross threaded it. I could smell the gas leaking out, took it from him and took a few steps away from another gas lantern that was the only source of light available at 3 in the morning. Far enough away to still be able to see, but not close enough to ignite the gas that was going to escape when I unscrewed the cannister to put it back on properly. I unscrewed the cannister, there was a loud hiss and the cannister became very cold and sweated. Just another couple of seconds and we'll be done. At which point, Sparky appeared from behind me with the lit gas lantern, adding, "here, you'll be able to see better with this!" I threw the hissing lantern across the carpark. And remember it was like watching a comet shooting across the sky. Unfortunately gas had seeped through my fatigues and the fireball that erupted as the lantern hit the ground was quickly followed by the realisation that my clothes were on fire. I was hit by a waist high sergeant, who tackled me to the ground and rolled round on top of me putting the flames out. But like a novelty birthday cake candle I burst into flames again. It took a couple of attempts to douse the flames. The sergeant yelled abuse for a couple of minutes before going very quiet, and very pale, and walking away. We found out later that he had thunderflashed in his pockets, and had just remembered. I wash driven to Hereford burns unit where I was held overnight and treated for mild flash burns. Lost eyebrows (again) and got a free monk's haircut where the flames had removed all the hair on my head below the bottom of my beret. Otherwise relatively unscathed. Coincidentally, the Sergeant was called Sergeant Burns. So no. Don't touch gas!
I have a 2006 ReBath model. Tried three different cartridges all still fast drip. Tried lubing seals with silicone grease. I may try lubing ceramic disc with silicone grease. I removed the inner piece, no evidence of leaks there, but replaced o-ring and seal anyway. I am at my wits end. Nothng is corroded or looked bad, new parts made no difference to the drip. Even tried over tightening, no change.
I cannot be able to find the small hole and small screw on my Delta knob as you show at 2:55 in the video. I do not see it anywhere on the faucet. Thank you very much.
I tell you what I'm uncomfortable doing and that's living alone. I hate this stuff. meh! Can you use a vice grip instead of a strap wrench? I'd like to get tools today and may not be able to find a strap wrench.
@nicholasgenaris327 probly pretty easy, get under the house and shut your water off, then cut the pip and add the filter, then reattach the pipe......but ive never done it

My mother has a Delta faucet. Thanks for your vid. Will disassemble to make sure I get the right cartridge. Appreciate the edits and the clear video.
That seems simple to someone like me.thank you
Thank you!!! Your step by step tutorial was to the point and informative. I will be using your tutorial to change out my MOEN cartridge that is causing the same issue as was your Delta cartridge.
thanks! Just did the install and though it did not go as smoothly as your video, it worked in the end.

Thanks...I am a new widow with a dripping shower. Can't afford a plumber so will try to fix myself.
Saved my a$$. I'm golden with electrical, but plumbing DIYs scare me. I got this Delta cartridge changed out right, the first time. Thanks!
No problem!

Hey gotta question the vent hole outside my home leaks into my flowerbed could it be my faucet just leaking from the running water or the pipes in the ground please let me know 👍
Thank You for such a great video. Are you from NC or VA?
if you had NOT shut off the main water supply, would there have been a constant gush of water from that open shower pipe??
Great video, but 2 suggestions:
1. Give that pipe in the wall a wipe before installing the new cartridge.
2. Before installing the decorative covers, turn the water on and check for leaks. It will at the very least give you peace of mind knowing you did not introduce a leak inside the wall.
Fantastic video! Very detailed!
My shower has 2 handles. Hot and cold, do you have a fix it Video for that?
Glad I'm not the only one. I also need a vid because my shower head and my hot water knob are leaking.
Same here

Hint, most companies will send you a new cartridge free of charge. I know that Moen & American Standard will.
Great video... Very helpful... Thanks!
great info.. easy to follow
Thanks for the video. I changed the delta valve cartridge but still there is leaking from the showerhead. Do you have any recommendations for what to do in this case?
Replace the shower head
I changed the cartridge but water still dripping from the shower head. Do you have other suggestions I can do? Thank you so much .
it could be the shower head. So remove just head and wrap plumbers tape around the end of the spout and screw back on the shower head 😊
Okay thanks for the video I replaced the cartridge out everything back on turned the water back on ran it followed the last steps and BAM! I still have a drip from my shower head! Any ideas now?
Same...
wow 👌 👏 😍 👍 very impressive thank you 😊
When i take shower i have to turn on the cold water shut of valve to get cold water do i need a new cartridge is that the problem?
Good job, good video. Love your T-Shirt.

What if it starts dripping a month after replacing the whole shower fixture with a new shower fixture ?
I learn something today🙏
Thank you !! The instructions worked for me😊
I rent and don't wana deal with my landlord. Is there any problem if I go about fixing this same issue by installing a flow valve on the head itself?
This was great! Thanks!
Another great one❤
Thanks
I change the cartridge and it is still leaking. Any advice. Please and thank you.

Thanks Brother!
Great work 👍
thanks
Me too.not so much plumbing but electrical is kinda nerv racking
Changing out a toliet!
I cannot be able to find the small hole and small screw on my Delta knob as you show at 2:55 in the video. I do not see it anywhere on the faucet. Thank you very much.
It's usually covered by a small rubber cap
Thank you sweetie
I'm having problems getting the screw out the handle? I can un-loosen and tighten the screw but the screw will not come totally out
It's possible that you don't have to take it completely out, just depends on the make and model I assume
Ayyye! My guy, thanks 🙏🏼
thank you
And if the silver ring doesn’t wanna come off ??
Thanks
Thank you, man. This was helpful.
My faucet is 35 years old how do you change that old of a faucet??
Do you got turn the water off
Yes!
well done
I tell you what I'm uncomfortable doing and that's living alone. I hate this stuff. meh! Can you use a vice grip instead of a strap wrench? I'd like to get tools today and may not be able to find a strap wrench.
@heartnsoul3357 any big box home improvement store should have strap wrench in the plumbing section.
Wonderful! Thank you and thanks for the video!
I put ours in 15 years ago. Where do I look to see what kind of handle it is?
I would take out the old cartridge and bring it with you to the store to make sure you get the correct one
I have replaced cartridge twice and still drips a bucket full overnight
Nice
How do you keep the outside part so clean? Ours gets this like white looks like some type of lime sediment buildup or something
Sounds like hard water, you need some kind of in line water filter
@@PatriotDIY sounds like a plumber issue unless it's an easy install?
@nicholasgenaris327 probly pretty easy, get under the house and shut your water off, then cut the pip and add the filter, then reattach the pipe......but ive never done it
Why won’t the hot water in shower leaking from showerhead
Brand? Moen? Delta? American Standard?
