I recognized how much time I wasted doing stupid stuff, after I lost my legs and my daughter in a car accident. I started seeing your and other people's inspirational videos which inspired me to create my own videos. It was hard because I had to fight with the physical and mental pain. Luckily I am able to type and speak with my left hand, therefore it is possible to communicate without revealing my hideous face. I do not have many viewers, although I am going to try to inspire as many folks as possible.

My self confidence comes from being around my friends. When I'm around my buddies I'm a social butterfly. When I'm not, I'm the world's biggest introvert.

Vic Vinegar II I totally agree, except I moved away and don't have many friends where I live now....putting myself out there isn't easy because making "new" friends can be scary and ultimately it's a trust thing until we learn if people are trustworthy, honest. As for more "personal" relationships, I am married and looking for help in pointing out things that need to change. Hoping Kati might cover some issues I need to better my marriage.

I remember I was in a deep depression and my self care was so poor. so one morning I got up to pee like normal and while I was in the bathroom I i randomly decided to brush my teeth and wash my face, then I went to my room and moisturised and drank some water and got out of my pjs. sounds so normal to anyone without depression, but for me it made me feel sooo much better! I made getting up and peeing, something everyone does, the cue for actually getting up properly and starting my day having achieved something. by just having one core thing and building off that it can make such a difference to your confidence

Something that helps A LOT with negative judgements of myself: I ask myself "What would I think of a friend or random stranger, if they were in the same situation?" If I wouldn't judge everyone else harshly then it isn't logical or fair to do it to myself.
To accompany this: I remind myself to trust and value the opinions my loved ones have about me. They're good, smart people, and they value me, so I must be valuable.

Body language specialists recommend to act confident by using confident body language it reduces your stress hormone levels and increases testosterone. I got used to it and studied a lot how to talk, what gestures to use, etc. and it actually helped.

Thank you! This was so helpful!
    Tips I use:
    1. I try not to judge others; I acknowledge that they have limitations and limited experiences.
    2. I acknowledge that it takes time to get over a life of believing that I am victim of others.
    3. I repeat to myself:
"Jessica you are not a victim".

I just want to say that I have a really sick mother who has always been emotionally abusive and physically abusive as well. I just watched your last video on emotional abuse and I'm watching this one now and I really want you to know that I appreciate what you are doing so much. I think you give brilliant advice, I think you are overwhelmingly positive, and your videos are helping me through this difficult time and really helping me to be positive and seek help. You are a beautiful human being and I hope you feel loved and confident like you try to make others feel. Keep spreading the positivity and please don't stop! :)

Whats helped me is getting out of my comfort zone. Doing something as small like saying hi to a stranger or asking a question in class can really help, because you have this feeling of accomplishment and you tell yourself im so proud that i did this what more can i do. And if you dont do it tell yourself hey thats ok there is always tomorrow to try again

I'm 16 and my boyfriend recently got put in juvie and i was not prepared at all, the was no way i could have seen it coming. Not only am i dealing with whats going on with him but he also had to move out of my house after being here with me for a year. It's really hard being on my own and i have a history of self harm and suicide attempts and disordered eating, and through all this i haven't slipped back AT ALL and i have no one to thank but myself, but i want everyone going through something that seems impossible to move on from or live with, its possible. positive self talk, journaling, reaching out to other, letting myself cry, eating a BALANCED diet, and having a self care routine has been whats let me keep up with work and school and piano lessons even as im going through the hardest thing i have ever had to go through (maybe not compared to being suicidal but thats certainly how its been feeling) so remember people! be kind to yourself!! its so easy to give in and let the sadness control your behavior and goals, and its a uphill battle to pull yourself out of a sadness slump just with sheer willpower to keep going and say nice things about yourself and the world over and over again until you believe them. do that and those happy grateful thoughts will be whats in the back of your mind when trying to handle everyday life, and posistive thoughts rather than negative haunting you makes SUCH a difference!!! if i can do it you can do it. POSITIVE SELF TALK PEOPLE THERE IS NOTHING BETTER and no greater feeling than knowing you're worth it. Love you kati and your channel so much!

  • @SWIFTzTrigger

Even better than think positive in my opinion is simply to stop caring. Not in a nihilistic way but in a genuine, who cares if people judge me, way in a "So what if I fail, I will try again" way. That builds so much self confidence for me its incredible. Positive thinking while helpful, doesn't work for everyone, but not caring worked wonders for me.

It’s so true actually, about making an effort with how we look. I trained as a style coach and it’s really true. We’re coming out of Coronavirus lockdown right now and I’ve been making an effort with my appearance to create content and it really made a difference to help I felt, just seeing myself in clothes rather than pyjamas! 😂❤️

I would just like to add: Dress nicely is never equals to having to buy expensive clothes. I believed that some time ago and never felt good in the clothes I had/I was able to afford, but then I realized with some help that it is all about how you wear the clothes, how you feel in them and that a price tag won't make you enjoy them less or more. I love thrift shopping and going to garage sales, and other second hand stores and I've found so many pieces that I absolutely love and make me feel self-confident and smart since I know I am not breaking the bank to feel happy and comfortable ! :)

The small goals step is the best one, I speak from self experience that when you set those small goals and accomplish them it can turn your day around. A lot of people with low self esteem feel stuck and when they accomplish those small goals it feels like life is moving, they're going forward for a better tomorrow.
    Btw I love your videos

    Great video Kati, thanks...
    My advices are:
    1. keep your living space clean, tidy and clutter free, you laundry done and the sink free of dirty dishes... My house is always a mess when I am stressed out and doubting my self and it reflects my inner space.
    2. Don't care about what other people think and avoid mean an negative people, treat them as if they don't exist!!!
    3. Reach out to people that are kind and caring.
    4. Be optimistic!!!

Love this video! I've learned a lot from watching your channel. :)
I faked the confidence a lot through my life, so I prefer to build true confidence instead. By recognizing what I want in life, by living according to my values, writing, and sharing my work, I've gained friends who seem to understand my need to write about PTSD healing. Since last year, I've accomplished one bucket list item (Evanescence concert), pet a python, started walking again with my husband, and have been going out of the house without panicking. And sleep! :D I also told my therapy team what I needed, after years of medications that worsened my symptoms and increased the chaos inside me. Best of all, after growing up without boundaries, I'm learning to set them. And keep them. I'm by no means completely better, and may not be, but I feel better than I did even a year ago. That's progress. :)

You're absolutely right about being positive! But how can I help others. For example my niece and my daughter are beautiful and smart but they both have really negative attitudes... my niece gets mad when I try to get her to see the positive side of things and my daughter said "why are you encouraging me when I suck" also said "why do I have to be nice all the time" How can I stay positive with all the negativity and how can I share my positivity?

I love your kind and compassionate persona.I am working on own self confidence and I have found having good posture, an assured voice that is not pleading for approval and a confident walk with shoulders back and head erect helps you feel more confident. I told myself I have a right to be wherever I am and I am good enough as I am right now and I do not worry about other people's opinions of me because it is only an opinion and not a fact.

An internal "yes". I've noticed the times my confidence is a bit low, that the internal dialogue in my head is running pretty negative, almost on a loop. And for what ever reason, replacing it with an internal "yes", just repeating it over and over in my head seems to ground me and give me more confidence. It's like saying "Yes" to what ever challenges, or situation I'm facing, which puts in a positive state of mind.

The tip about baby steps is a good one. I mean you often hear that quote, "Rome wasn't built in day." It's a very true saying. Also if you look at things like music and art and anything really. You don't suddenly pick up a guitar and start playing like a superstar. You don't suddenly start painting and start producing picaso's. So why wouldn't building your self confidence not be the same as all that.

Make a playlist of upbeat songs to get you pumped! It usually makes me feel more outgoing in social situations afterwards
