What season does it shed
Boooo
Yeah me 2
I like using a humidity box, that way not the whole tank is humid thus no risk of scale rot. Having one place be humid is good for when shedding time rolls around.
freshnspicy meatbol how do you only make one spot humid
my name is my name Humidity box. Cut a hole in the lid of a small tupperware (big enough for the snake to fit in) and fill it with a layer of sphagum moss, and keep it damp. This way they can decide if they want to go in for more humidity plus it acts as
a hide.
Jason Blaylock thank you, also I was told that my snake has to have her day night and then a night light, the night light I have doesn’t give a lot of light, should I keep her day light on or turn it off
my name is my name What kind of snake do you have?
Jason Blaylock red tailed boa
I'm getting a ball python and was nervous about humidity but this helps a lot thank you!!!
I'm getting one too. Which method did u use
@@hyunjins_babymama you get one??
@@Crazyayy I just got mine last night
How's your snake now? xD
@@xxfluffypuff I’m getting mine this weekend 😅
if you dont want to mist your terrarium, you can get a humidifier and put it on a timer near your tank or get a reptile specific humidifier (they have a lil tubey on top, you could always add this to a normal humidifier too!)
If you really wanna feel humidity, come to Georgia on a really hot day right after it rains.
LinkinPaw32, it’s brutality lmao
facts
No joke hahaha it's gnarly
Nah bruh life in Mississippi is like that 24/7
I lived in Georgia most of my life and now Mississippi. Georgia is a desert compared to Mississippi 😂
I've noticed that putting just a smidgen of spagnum (probably spelt that wrong) moss mixed with the substrate helps a lot with my snakes shed! However i do change out the substrate completely once theyre done shedding so they dont get scale rot. Hope this helps someone!
Great tip! :-)
Madison Cabrera thank you
I too put sphagnum moss in and clean the entire enclosure after shed
I'm trying a humidity box. I hear it works well at least with ball pythons.
Where do you get that is it just regular moss?
Sheesh man humidity is complicated haha. Thank you for making this video it helps a ton
Glad it helped!
You can also spray with water. :D
My bedroom is also now my reptile room, It's fun being warm and sweaty when I go to bed, and generally when I'm in there at all :D Having a Corn Snake has been a positive change for me though, and he's been good company for the month or two I've had him. I really enjoy these videos, keep them coming!
It’s fun being warm and sweaty for bed?? That sounds absolutely miserable
@@fluffleboy I guess you're not from Australia LMAO
(I am, and it isn't _that_ fun going to bed on a humid night xD)
@@Xombic0780 haha I from Florida and I can tell you I hate sleeping in humidity
I've had the complete opposite problem. Instead of humidity being too low, it's too high, AND, I have a glass aquarium. Trying to lower the levels now while keeping the temperature good.
Same
This is exactly what’s happing
Thanks soooo much my 1 year old ball python has just started his second shed and I was struggling to keep the humidity perfect great video as always and good news I have finished my fan art and am looking forward to getting my mum to send it to you tomorrow thanks soooo much again and this vid will definitely help me in the future
I liked this video I've owned my ball python for over a decade, and I dont ever stop learning about him. I always want to make sure I'm taking care of my buddy correctly. This is great from novice to intermediate owners. Thank you for the insight
Mufflore Warrell how to you keep your humidity level around 50-60%
Thank you for making this video Josser!!!
Omg thank you sooooo much. Your channel always makes my day 🐍
This video is awesome like your videos always are. It's full of information and in my opinion one of the most important topic of reptile keeping.
When I started reptile keeping I had problems with humidity because of a damaged hygrometer (It told me everything is fine) and the first shed of my bp got stuck. I bought a new one and this worked perfect and never had problems ever since.
Yay, finally i understand about humidity ^^ This will help a lot when il be getting my first snake, thanks
Thank you so much for covering this. For the longest time, I couldn't find a legit video covering the management of humidity. Thank you!
Thank you for the information. My young BP is taking a very long time to shed and it is spotty. I was wondering why and your videos answered my questions. You are great, keep up the great work!
I find your videos describe words better than any others! 👌 Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
I’m getting one for my birthday and your videos are a real help in knowing what to do
Thank you for the information it helped my ball python so much. He was having a lot of trouble shedding until I followed your advice.♥️🐍🐍
My friend moved away and gave me his 6 month old python and ive only had her for a week but this video was definitely the most helpful!! Thank you so much
Aahhhhh i really love your videos and how you try to reply to everyone!
you are a blessing and a half!! I'm at work and I'm super anxious about my snake because im on day 2 of not being able to keep it humid in his tank. I'm going to be trying all of this, thank you so much!
Great video as always and very informative. Thank you.
I also often have a hard time getting the humidity to the right place for my BP. I live in the desert where average humidity is less than 10%, so I had to be kind of inventive. So for the best method is to have those room humidifiers and jury rigg a few PVC pipes to the opening to direct the mist into the tank. I am also going to be getting a hygrostat as soon as I find a good one to control the humidifier to make sure the humidity doesn't get too high.
I'm so happy to see this video. I've followed you and I hit the bell for notifications. But I never get a notification for your videos. It's so nice to hear and see you again. I did get my first snake. A Rough Green snake. I am in love. No more fear of snakes. She is beautiful emerald green and yellow. I named her Sprite. Thank you for your videos. You really helped me to be brave enough to purchase my girl.
Hi Denise!
I'm so happy to hear that, Sprite sounds like a beautiful and amazing girl, and I love the name!! I have no idea why you wouldn't get any notifications? Maybe try and turn it off and then on again. More videos are coming soon! If you have any question feel free to write me, I would love to hear more about Sprite! :-)
New snake owner here! This is BEYOND helpful! Thanks for the great tips!
This was so helpful. I have a young cornsnake and I'd like to get a ball python, but I was very nervous about the humidity as I had some problems with my corn over this last winter. I really like your ideas :)
I know this video was last year but I love your videos❤ I always get the info I need !
Thanks for the info you are awesome! We need more out here to spread the right knowledge. Knowledge beats fear.
Exactly!! :-)
Thank you so much! I really want a snake and this is one of the major things I was worried about!
I’ve seen this video a hundred times
Thank you for this! I recently acquired two emoji morph ball pythons from a friend that could not bring them to the home they were moving into. I've been struggling with humidity and misting multiple times a day only to have the humidity drop to 30% within just a few minutes. I took your advice and placed a towel on top of their cages opposite of the heat lamp and the humidity went right up to where it should be. Perfect timing too as they JUST started into a shed cycle. :)
thank you, humidity is an important thing for my ball python. i was looking for a while on help with that.
I live in Colorado keeping the humidity up is a daily struggle.... I spray mist every other day
Your ideas are unbelievable y helpful for me and sage, thanks so much
I love your videos, keep doing what your doing!
Thank you so much, this is REALLY helpful!
HUMID HIDES ARE THE BEST. I use them for my ball python, my corn snake, and my western hog nose. I have NEVER had a bad shed from any of them. I keep the humid hide in my ball pythons came permanently. But I put it in the other snakes tanks ONLY when they are shedding. Works like a charm.
Thank you so much for this video, i was about to ask this question. I will try out the tips you gave here ^^
Let me know if they work! :-)
i just got my new boa and this was helpful i may make a video like this. i love to be inspired. thank you!! :)
Thanks for this video it really helped me out alot! 😄
Love your videos!!! I cannot WAIT for a meet ALLLL my pets video!!!!!!
thanks so much for this video my BP is weezing but has no signs of respiratory issues and read heightening the humidity may help. I noticed his terrarium was dry so I moved the water bowl over the heat pad and did the towl thing over his hot spot. thanks a bunch.
Thanks! Very useful for us beginners! 😊
Was here at 1k, will be here at 1 million ;)
Yay! :-)
I always look forward to your videos!! Humidity is the main reason I've hesitated getting a snake of my own (being scared of doing something wrong and putting the animal in dangerous conditions) so thank you for this!! Also, I was wondering how was your trip to London? Did you enjoy your time here and enjoy the show? x
Thank you so much!
My trip was amazing, I went to the warner brothers studio checking out their Harry Potter exhibition and then watching the Lion King, so in one word AMAZING! Thank you for asking! :-)
Jossers Jungle That sounds great! Glad you enjoyed it, Warner Bros Studios is great!! x
Jossers Jungle what show was it?
Sam Veasey She went to see The Lion King on the West End x
YouAndMarshMellow oh I thought it may have been a reptile show like Donny
That is a very hepfull video. It helped me in considering getting the colombian rainbow boa, as I was wary between the different infos from the owners. But turns out it is easier than how they picturize it to be. I knew already of all the options, as I was sitting in this topic for some time already, but this video told me some of the most comfortable and safe go-for to the snake :) The humidity shouldn't be much of a problem aswell as I live in Scotland, in here it's quite chilly and has a heavy mistied air. But I still want to set up the terrarium as healthy and cozy for the snake as it can be. Thank you for that video!
This was the part I was most nervous about. but after watching this video, I think I’m ready to find a noodle!
Hej! Thank you for the very nice video!! It is very helpful!!
It is important too that you look for how big the ventilation supply of the terrarium is!
If it too big, the air will be more dry and if it is too small, the glasses inside the terrarium will get wet and that may could cause breathing problems for your snake!
Best regreats, Robin!
Have a nice evening!! :-)
Gat to say, i love your thumbnails😂
Haha, thanks! I try my best to be artistic ;-p
This was so helpful thank you!!
I would recommend getting a hygrometer for ALL snakes. I have a corn snake and I thought I wouldnt need one because they should thrive at the humidity of your room but I saw one for good price so I bought it. Turns out my room was only 20% humidity. Not the 40-50% that I assumed it was.
This is a really good video all nice and informative. This helped me understand this topic more and how to handle the humidity so thanks for the tips :)
Very helpful and great video💫👑
I got my first snake, a hognose, a few months ago. She shed for me for the first time and it was one big piece. I was so happy. Hognoses don't require a lot of humidity, but just to be safe a bought her a little plastic cave with some moistened spagnum moss. She loves it.
Amazing! :-)
Thank you so much,I've been waiting for someone I can trust to make a humidity video for soo long
Isaiah Gonzalez I’m so glad to here it was a help to you! :-)
i love the way your eyebrows move when you talk ahah
Emily and Ed are breeders from snake discovery they use something called humidity boxes ❤️🐍
Amazing channel. Thanks a lot
I find an ultrasonic humidifier quite handy. does a good job in keeping my humidity high. i also think that a wooden terrarium is quite helpfull in keeping up the humidity level.
South east texas gets plenty of it lol especially near houston. Surprisingly enough my two geckos and my beardie have never had problems shedding, so much so I don't need to mist. Got my first snake yesterday and it shed over night already!
Very helpful, thank you!
I looked at the humidity of my state and glad to see that it's perfect for a ball python.
So glad I found your channel 😀
Best thumbnail ever! ;)
Thank you so much! can't wait to get my ball python!
Something I do to raise the humidity is to over fill the water bowl. I learned that from another keeper who runs a reptile museum.
Hi I love your video so much keep up your good work
Nice video! Thanks for the tips!
Also, I know normally people keep their ball pythons separate, do you house any of yours together?
Thank you for making this video it is so helpfull😄
I love the snek face close ups. Her lil tongue and nose and eyes
aAAAH so cute
Can you do a housing video your California king snake!
WaterGameZ Absolutely! :-)
love that Phantom of the opera tattoo!
Tayler Kitunen Yay! Thank you! You're one of the first to notice :-)
Your snakes cuteness level IS OVER 9000!!!!!!
Great video! What brand of hygrometer do you use/recommend? I'm looking to get a ball python, but I'm not sure I trust the finicky looking humidity gauges at Petco lol
i should be getting a ball python in a few months and i want to be ready when i do so i love your videos
could you make a video on reasons why snakes regurgitates and what to do when/if it happens? love your videos and keep up the good work =)
Absolutely! :-)
I really like your videos and your reptiles, I'm a bit curious about you were you are from and that you were a performer in a Circus!
Maybe a small vlog about you would be cool. Take care
Hi Luis!
Thank you so much! I'm from Denmark!
I would love to talk more about my circus days! :-D
I actually use paper towels for substrate and to keep the humidity and heat up i took an old piece of backing from a TV stand, cut it to length, and covered it with foil and taped it in place. It reflects the heat and the evaporation of the water hits the metal and condenses again and statts the water cycle within the tank so it helps with humidity. When she goes into shed i use wrist warm water and spray her directly (off the head) and inside her main hide she uses then spray the glass a bit (like misting for chameleons). She has shed with no issue every time in one full piece.
Thank you for making the vid
I have been watching all your videos on binge because I am getting one soon!
I have a question about plastic terrariums. If I were to use a reptile heating pad that goes underneath, will it melt the plastic? is there a specific type of plastic that's safe? thanks! :D
Cigar box humidifiers with digital controls are the best for keeping your humidity perfect in your enclosure. This also keeps it from getting soaking wet and stops the risk of scale rot.
I just bought my first boa after seeing your vids! thanks so much! (Not my first snake, have 2 ball pythons and 10 corn snakes ;) )
How's it going? : D
Good information, and so very pretty...
Thankyou this really helped me
Hey!! i’m learning so much from you Could do tell us which plants are good for keeping in a room with a ball python staying in?
Hi, happy to hear it. I've heard that any plant from the Bromelia spieces should be good for terrarium ^_^
I use a small humidifier in my snakes enclosure.
Hi josser!
Do you have merch?
My bday is in ten days and that's what I want!
Thanks for the video!
Hi!
Yes I do have a little, you can see them on etsy.com! Just search for JossersJungle :-)
Do you have a t shirt? I would love to share this channel with the kids in my school!
I have a rainbow boa baby (they need 90% humidity) i have a large bowl for soaking, a waterfall on the hot side and my secret weapon MOSS! They sell it and moss really holds in moisture rising the humidity quite a bit :)
It took me a while to get my snakes tank humidity correct , I personally experienced humidity when I visited Louisiana in August especially at night lol
I have a solid piece of malaysian driftwwod that I soak in warm water for ten minutes if my ball python needs higher humidity. It absorbs a lot of water and releases it slowly, so the humidity is higher for longer. But she is housed in a plastic tub, so that may be a contributing factor.
thx so much I understand now
I have been watching your videos for months now and finally got a ball python, I was wondering if 65% is okay, I am using aspen in a glass tank and I put a humid hide in there
Hiii, loving your vids! I am now the proud parent of a ball python, as of today. and the humidity in the enclosure is too high and i’m not quite sure how to bring it down. i want to make sure she is comfortable and doesn’t get scale rot. what should i do?
A great video, I am happy I found you, but I have the other problem, the humidity level in my ball python’s terrarium is too high… I have glass terrarium from exoterra with good ventilation, I introduced colonies of two different little bugs that eat mold, and whenever I’m in the room I’m keeping the lid open. the water bowl is pretty small and on the other side of the heat mat, I had a humidity hide, but I removed it, and my new snake was stressed so I needed to cover the terrarium and it rises up to 90% now it is all open to provide better air flow and it’s at 77%
(PS I’m a newbie, trying to make my first snake happy and healthy 🙃)
Sphagnum moss will help as well.
For someone who can give advice, i just purchased a ball python ( i live in arizona so i know we have a low humidity environment) and he is in a glass enclosure with a screen top (i didnt want the screen top but i purchased a starter kit from my local reptile store and they said it should be fine) however ive had him for a few days now and for the live of me i can not get the humidity levels to rise even when ive taken all the advice i could get. I have the hygrometer (two of them because i wasnt sure if the first one was acurate. i also have themometers on both sides of the tank so i can know the temps for both the cool and warm side) Ive made a humidity hide that i also purchased from the reptile store, ive got sphan moss (not sure if thats how you spell it) through the hide, i purchased the substrate that helps with humidity and ive also misted it twice a day (i dont want to over mist to avoid scale rot).
I put a Cermic (again not sure if thats how you spell it) on top of my enclosure because its also been very difficult to get the temps right, and its in the middle of the enclosure. both sides though are closed off with this tarp thing and a towel on top of it so i can trap as much humidity inside the enclosure. Even with all this tips and tricks my dang humidity WILL NOT INCREASE PAST 35 PERCENT. Right after a mist it does shoot up to 50-60 percent but then after 30 minutes to an hour its back down to 30-35. Please help because i really want to be able to fix this as soon as possible. I do have other concerns as well and have gone back to the reptile store and theyve taught me some tips but its not very effective so far.
What hygrometer do you use and is there any you recommend? I really wish you would have shared that. You clearly have that perfect for your snakes
Did you get one? I’m struggling to find one
