Dear chetna, what I admire is the way you honestly talk about it's taste and not go like hmmm... ..u honestly said it needs a lil bit more salt and went ahead corrected it. Now that's what I wd say genuineness. Good. Proud of U👍
You are such a great story teller and your warmth and love for food really comes through in this video. I really enjoyed it and I'm totally making this.
Lol, I have said this a couple of times in your other vids I guess, but I swear I can't get over how beautiful u are and your personailty. Your aura exudes something so beautiful that at the moment the word to define it eludes me because maybe it's not supposed to be defined ❤ I love your recipes and I really enjoy trying them. I have not tried the egg curry yet as I have had so many eggs over the last few weeks and my face is complain with break outs. Lol. But I will still give it a try. This recipe comes first because its going to be my dinner tonight ☺😊
We make a version of this all the time! Such a great recipe. Glen's Grandmother (his fathers family lived in India for 200+ years before coming to Canada) made amazing Indian food. We keep talking about doing his families Indian recipes on our channel... but two "white Canadians" might draw the ire of the internet.
Thank you for the recipe and for mentioning pressure cookers! :-) If someone here has an Instant Pot, please tell me how long you cook this dish for. About 10 minutes?
Have your book just got it because of this potato and pea recipe... I love , love love this recipe, I have sent it to my son to cook, my daughter who is not so keen on any curry to a portion home for her tea. Thank you looking forward to cooking recipes out of your book.😁
My son absolutely LOVES peas, to the point where he will ignore all else on his plate when he sees them - I absolutely am going to try making this for him and see what he thinks
Dear Ms. Chetna, I enjoy your recipes as I found it be delicious, healthy, and time efficient. My only request is that Please please mention the ingredients quantities in proper accurate units. Most of the Desi cooks talk in terms of number of pcs such as 1 med onion, four tomatoes, or three med potatoes. Problem is that your med might be very small compare to our medium in US. It would be very helpful if you could have the quantities in grams. I am sorry if I offended you, it's my little frustration with the most of the desi chef and cook on the internet. I hope you forgive me.
12.3.23, dear beautiful Chetna...I made this curry today. It is chilly and raining outside and this turned out to be a perfect meal for the day. Thank you so much, I hope you and your family are all well.
I like the idea of adding water. My mum used to parboil the potatoes instead, but I’d prefer to cook them in the sauce. I’ll try this method next time.
I worked in 1983 with a group of Punjabi’s and ate curry, for breakfast, dinner and tea. I also became their chief char walla All the food was home cooked.
May I ask you for recipes with sweet potatoes? I would love to see how you make them. Love sweet potatoes. Thank you. Wishing you the very best always.
Hello I came across your site by chance. Thank you for such an easy to follow video with simple straight forward ingredients. I will give this a try . Kindest regards.
Hi Chetna , all your recipes are so amazing , I like it very much , I am a Chinese , but I like Indian food very much , luckly I met you , cause I am not an Indian , what you said in the video is very clear , but some of the words I still can not understand , if you can type the seasoning beside the video , that will be very conventient for me to buy , and follow the steps to make Indian food . Thank you .
I’m so lucky I found your recipe last night! Made this for dinner today and it was amazing!! So flavorful...😋. Can’t wait to make more recipes from your channel!!
Maam I truly enjoyed watching this recipe being done so easy and looks very very tasty mouth watering, I'm going to try, also looks lovely for Roti roll or samoosa filling, Above all I liked that you didn't say tastier than meat like others, thank you for a simple recipe, take care, Robin Pillay, Phoenix Durban
Hi Chetna, this looks really delicious! I‘d like to try this, but can‘t find black mustard seeds. Is it OK to use yellow ones? Or is there some other replacement? Thanks and all the best, keep up the good work :)
Hi there, I tried it and it turned out pretty good and I chose fresh peas. So being easy and quick fix, I am cooking this recipe often 😃 Thank you so much for lovely ,easy and delicious recipe.
I love your recipes chetna. moreover I love the way you talk. also aloo matar happens to be my favourite too. and here it is , a simple ,easy yet delicious recipe. 😃
so yummy! Is the chili powder you use different than what I can get at the supermarket? Yours looks bright orange/red, but the chili powder I have is brownish/burgundy
trigforner I believe the brownish “chili” powder you are referring to is the American/Southwestern sort used to make TexMex chili, the dish featured in chili cook offs here in the US. The “chilli” powder used in all Indian recipes is made from dried and ground hot red peppers. Like cayenne.
Beautiful recipe! Thank you, Chetna! Potato & tomato are indigenous food stuff of the American continent. We know how tomato changed Italian cookery after Columbus brought it back to Europe from the New World, for example. Were potato & tomato brought over to India independently from America or by the Brits?
I've watched hundreds of videos on cooking Indian food around 70% of them got thumbs down from me and the other 30% never got thumbs up from me this is my firs thumbs up congratulations woman you have to be the best I accidentally gave her a thumbs down I better fix it
No worries, when ever the recipe I share is from one of my books I always mention it in the video. Though you should get one of the books and try some recipes from it. :))))

classic recipe. When my Mum makes it I always have it with a swirl of yoghurt on top when on rice, and on the side if I have it with roti!
Yes I love it with yogurt and pickle too.

What a wonderful meal! Thank you for this video! About the rice: Did you prepare Basmati rice or another kind?
I use only basmati
Looks delicious. I only use thyme, salt and pepper when I make potatoes with peas and its delicious. Will try this version as well.

Thank you! Is there a big difference between black mustard seeds and standard? Would it work to substitute?
Yes there is slight difference in flavour but you can use white if not black available.
That looks so delicious! It sounds like an ideal recipe for my Instant Pot!
Yes absolutely!
Never tried it in instant pot but that's a great idea.
Maam I truly enjoyed watching this recipe being done so easy and looks very very tasty mouth watering, I'm going to try, also looks lovely for Roti roll or samoosa filling,

try it another day
@@FoodwithChetna yes, I am making my shopping list now:-)
so yummy! Is the chili powder you use different than what I can get at the supermarket? Yours looks bright orange/red, but the chili powder I have is brownish/burgundy
I buy chilli powder from supermarkets as well, look for strong chilli powder. Usually the its the paprika that looks brownish
trigforner I believe the brownish “chili” powder you are referring to is the American/Southwestern sort used to make TexMex chili, the dish featured in chili cook offs here in the US. The “chilli” powder used in all Indian recipes is made from dried and ground hot red peppers. Like cayenne.
It Looks delicious and I am trying to cut down on meats as well thank you
Great veg meal!
I love your recipes Chetna. Keep doing your thing 🤩
Thanks Denise!

Well please do let me know when you find out!
Portugese brought them to India.
Sharad Pandya Thank you very much!
Love this channel so glad I found you
Welcome and hope you will give some of these a go!
Good food presented really well Chetna. May I request more pressure cooker recipes ?
Will do, though I try not to as not everyone has a pressure cooker. But I do mention where you could use it like in this recipe.
Love you....it's mi childhood
yes specially in the winters
Making this tomorrow!
Yippee!
Tried this and it was yummy 😋😋😋
You are my muse. I love making your recipes.

Hi Chetna, isn't the aloe matar supposs to be more runny? I cook mine with the potatoes already boiled so the juice doesn't consume right away...
It can be any consistency you like.
it's awesome mam. I made this yesterday.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Hi, wondering why you use vegetable oil instead of ghee? Just wanted to know if it is a taste matter? Thanks
Not really, I just use whatever I have at home at the time
Another good one. Thanks.
Not sure if my tomatoes were too big, but it was very watery the whole way through - and still is at the end! What can I do? (Love you!)
If it gets too watery just cook on high heat for 3-4 minutes and it will reduce the water
@@FoodwithChetna Thanks for the reply! 🙂
Love your recipes!!!
Thanks Anshula
Love this thank you
Amy Isaacs you are welcome
Ah seem to look yummy ...
...really lyk ur personality ...
Thanks Priyal!
I made this and it was amazing!
Thanks for the dinner idea tonight!
You are very welcome.
Would cayenne powder work for the chili powder you use?
Yes it will work, though it is not very strong so you can add fresh green chillies to add to the heat.
Fantastic
looks amazing where can i get the recipe from thank you regards
The video is the recipe Ken
sorry thought it was in one of your books so i knew which one to buy 1st thank you
No worries, when ever the recipe I share is from one of my books I always mention it in the video. Though you should get one of the books and try some recipes from it. :))))
just ordered cardamom trail & chai, chaat & chutney
food time : )))
Can you use sweet potato instead?
Ah I’m going through your videos and forgot to like them! Better watch them again.
Oh yes for sure and like them all!
Can you use split peas instead of whole peas?
Can’t find black pepper seeds anywhere. Suggestions for alternatives?
Making it now! :) Just boiling it to cover. Turns out I don’t have a lid so we’ll improvise ;)
How many minutes in the pressure cooker? I want to try this in the Instant Pot.
It usually takes 2-3 whistles in the cooker
Thanks so much!
Looks yummy!
Thanks
Yum!
Chetna you so amazing
Very kind!
Do you boil the potatoes first Thankyou
How long in the pressure cooker?
not long, maybe 1 whistle
*Wonderful recipe*
Thank you!
❤️
great quick recipe, only 500ml was way too much for me, itwas still too watery after the potatos were cooked.
It depends on the potatoes as well, next time use less.
"Oh wait I need to sign off" :'D
Yes it was good and could not stop eating it!
