It's such a weird choice to start the new Monster High era with inaccessible dolls. Imagine knowing a huge amount of die hard fans and collectors are going to be so excited to finally get their hands on new articulated dolls.. only to price them to where a decent chunk of the fan base can't afford them. I understand a playline is coming with cheaper prices but THAT should've been the return, disappointment shouldn't have been the first collective reaction. Also can we normalize calling out people taking advantage of the limited orders and ALREADY posting to ebay with scalping prices? How are they not embarrassed

I love the dolls but I agree, the prices in regards to the product are INSANE. It breaks my heart that they're doing this. I am a DIE HARD Monster High fan, but can't even afford a single doll! If they were priced according to quality, they'd be ca $35, and I would try to buy them all over time. But at such an insulting price (plus limited availability), I will not be getting a single one. They could have made more money by having a realistic price point and including all doll lovers, not just those with high income. So sad, I would have loved these dolls. And I dread to see what the play line will look like if these are considered "premium collector" quality (spoiler: they're not) and "worth" $75 (with tax and shipping $95 lmao). Mattel is fucking it's MH fans up the ass, and ppl are defending them. With the SKullector dolls (that I also didn't purchase, despite my enormous vtg MH collection), all the overpaying fans whined and defended Mattel saying they were so pricey due to licensing being expensive bla bla bla. Now these dolls are even more expensive than those, yet NO LICENSING costs... Hm.

I'm not gonna pretend I know how much production cost was or how much profit they receive but they should have considered more of the fan base and not just catered to the "well off" ones. Again idk how much more costly making these dolls are than the $25 MH dolls back in the day (I agree they don't look much different in quality) but I think they should've scrapped the rooted lashes, fabric bags, and unnecessary charms to cut the cost and been more inclusive to more fans if they really are sticking to their story that $90+ is absolutely justified for a single doll. In my opinion the dolls don't need all these new gimmicks, they would've been just as exciting and stunning. Whatever the real reason, they should've been more thoughtful.
But seriously I so miss the days of walking into a store going to the toy section and just seeing floor to ceiling monster high dolls I hope a day like that will soon return

I had two little sisters and at the time could only afford their dolls for BDAY gifts. I never got a doll for myself now I'm buying them for me. They still love MH but they aren't obsessed with Dolls anymore.
I love the designs of the dolls but there is nothing about them that justifies the insane price, especially with how edited their faces are in the promos compared to the real dolls

I’m sorry, but as a massive Monster High fan, the sneak peek of the live action Monster High movie made me cringe so hard. I was worried it would turn into a really cringy movie if they made it live action and I’m worried I’m right. The only character that looked half-decent in the photo was Clawdeen. I’m sorry, but in my opinion, the quality just isn’t there. On the bright side, these new dolls look amazing and I can’t wait for more to be released soon.
Yeah idk how I feel about that sneak peek, there was so much potential to make it really edgy which I’d personally love, so much possibility with the clothing style. But hopefully it’s a pleasant surprise ultimately though.
Ya exactly like I think everyone pictured frankie to be quite tall and Draculaura to be short but it’s the opposite in this. Also the clothes look kind of cheap

I was also a bit upset about the sneak peek, and to be honest i was expecting their outfits and costumes to be over the top (i know it couldn't happen because they are on a budget but still)

i really hope at some point they put the dolls back into department stores. I really miss when it was easy to buy a good quality doll for not too much.

I am completely heartbroken especially watching Deuce and Cleo fight to stay together in Boo York, Boo York. Deuce really loved that girl. Although I'm surprised they paired Deuce with Frankie (apparently this is debunked now!), Rochelle would have made more sense since she's a gargoyle and expressed interest in him before. Frankie's the new girl and was basically experimenting with different crushes like Jackson, Holt, and Neighton.
Edit: This comment was made before the reveal of Frankie's diary so this is definitely debunked but the hurt is still real with Cleo and Deuce breaking up 😔
There's rumor going around that Frankie and Deuce might be dating because there's said to be a Frankie and Deuce pack in the future so a lot of folks assumed that they're romantically together OR hopefully it's a themed pack with them as friends.
Yeah. I liked Cleo and Deuce and I guess the only way we can find out why they broke up is to get the dolls and read the diaries.

Edit: I also do feel sad about cleo and deuce breaking up but the thought of Frankie being with deuce is just not it. To me in my opinion they should only be friends and not romantically together.

$30 is so not enough for a collectors item lol. The regular play dolls back in the day were 25 so obviously these dolls are going to be a little more expensive

Twise draculaura collector was $50. also the skullectors were way more cheaper and 2 of them came in a pack. the price point for this haunt couture line is ridiculous

@@macadamia123 the box + box designs, diaries, embroidery details, lashes, etc etc. that is worth $50+. i agree over $70 is too OP but this IS a collectors doll anyways. the normal play line dolls will drop after and will be cheaper. just not this high in quality.
something im worried about are the resellers, Frankie is already sold out and people are gonna start selling her for over $200. Most people aren't going to be able to afford the dolls for $75 aswell. I feel like $50 would've been a bit more reasonable, since the quality is basically the same as the original dolls from 2010. But I think the dolls are gorgeous tho!! 💀👑

They’re nice, but this is the same quality as rainbow high. Therefore, they should absolutely not be $75.

I absolutely ADORE these new dolls. They're just gorgeous and truly the best designs for these characters, especially Draculaura, but I just feel like $75 is a bit too much to ask for dolls like these. I mean, that's more expensive than Pennywise! I just hope the reproduction dolls and future lines won't be this expensive.

I mean it makes sense since all the materials that was used is now quite expensive and since it's now sold out it makes the doll worth the price!

I LOVE the new designs, we got what we wanted, our ghouls looking like themselves again, embracing their Freaky flaws, and new stuff, which help them shine again. I rlly hope we get more than just the trio tho, Characters like Gigi, Opperetta, and Abbey deserve a comeback. Either way I can't wait for these to be released In stores.

These are collectables. Online only, and only expensive since they’re higher quality than normal MH dolls and because they’re collectors dolls.
I'm sick of Mattel doing the same cycle: New MH dolls->they turn out to be skullectors dolls that are released very shortly after being announced (no time to save up 🙄)->the dolls get sniped by scalpers and resold like crazy->no restocks->mattel uses the fact that the dolls sold out in 3 minutes to make more skullectors and brag to investors as they disappear for months->repeat
Also, if this is collector quality, I don't even wanna know what playline quality is gonna be 🙄 MGA is giving us high quality dolls with inset eyes, rooted lashes, an extra outfit (including shoes!) and detailed clothing and accessories (including fabric bags and real chains!) for $35. This is the standard for fashion dolls now. These dolls shouldn't be $80. It's also infuriating that these dolls are somehow MORE than the single skullectors dolls that Mattel has to pay licensing fees to make.
Also I'm sorry but the fashion show looked really bad. The models looked nothing like the ghouls and the clothes looked nothing like what they'd wear with mayyyybe the exception being Lagoona. (not surprised hearing that the creator is a kanye prodigy bc imo Yeezy clothes look like trash)
Also, about the Graduation Tour tee, I'm pretty sure that was just a cute lil design gimmick. I'd like more shirts like that bc with the exception of a few like the crest crop top and the shirt with the dolls on it, the HT designs are kinda lackluster. I'm not paying $25+Shipping for a shirt with a jpg of Draculaura or a design that looks similar to that of a little kid's shirt you can find at target.
Not to be a Debbie Downer but I'm kinda worried about how Mattel is gonna go at this franchise this time around. While I do love that they are catering to adult fans/collectors, it feels like they are getting a bit too comfy with the collectors pricing bc they know that fans will still buy it bc the scalping in this fandom is insane. I also feel like if they want to improve on the HT clothes they could sell some of the ghoul's outfits and accessories as clothes. (I'd kill for this new Draculaura's beret and coffin backpack!)

Yeah it’s weird everyone is praises the designs when they look half assed to me. As if they wanted to please soccer moms and the actual target demographic and comes off as not cohesive. The girls look too cute, Frankie and Drac having puffy skirts is so weird considering the original designs had them wearing micro miniskirts, also what’s will Drac being so Lolita? Her original design was the perfect blend of edgy egirl and gothic Lolita but they just ran with the tired old “girly vampire” and called a day. the whole point of MH is to be edgy and gothic but they leaned way into the most basic parts of the girls separate aesthetic. And Clawdeen’s look is so lazy, the skirt is atrocious and look dated to me and it’s looks completely off when paired with a crop top and shaw/fur jacket. The redesigns people have made on Instagram are surprising much better than this and stay true to the original aesthetic. I think people are just glad that they aren’t as bad as the first reboot, and actually have some cool details but I don’t like it at all. But I really don’t think this reboot will last anyways.
All scalpers can step on a lego honestly... I do love these dolls, wouldn´t pay that much for basically just decoration though (especially not if they come with uneven eyes and such). I could have thought about it if someone on ebay gave me a better price but why sell a doll for less when you can possibly get 200$ out of a desperate fan huh
@@parisknight1840 I think the designs looked fine, but to each their own. And Draculaura having puffy elements is not out of her character at all, in the past she’s had similar, cutesy designs like that. Same with Frankie. I do agree though that Clawdeen’s shirt could have been better, but other than that I think she looks fabulous.
I actually hate to be the one to say this but many people have already received their Frankie dolls and the quality DROPPED from what they leaked. The biggest let down for me is that they don’t actually have inset eyes, which Frankie was teased to have. They’re lower quality than rainbow high and twice the price

I kind of love the idea of the original characters graduating. Toy lines often show a moment in time and it never progresses, so seeing time progress for a doll line is so fun.
Also if this does well I hope Mattel revives the EAH line. I would pay big bucks for some revamped collector EAH dolls.
I agree, I really hope this could possibly mean EAH could come back. I also hope that if they do they don’t break up one of the main couples, Hunter and Ashlynn, like Deuce and Cleo though cause that would be so sad.

If they do release new EAH dolls I think they should release more dolls of color. EAH was lacking in so much diversity as far as skin tones. It was disappointing imo. There was literally only one blk doll and there were no Asian dolls or Latina dolls. These groups have fairy tales.
It may not happen though. Disney may be teaming back up with Mattel, which bringing back EAH would cause more ruckus than it already has among the companies.
@@venuslove-i1v thank you! My first EAH doll was Briar and yet she’s still one of the few brown skin dolls in their line. I don’t really like that some of the characters were purple or blue why not make them into POC? Monster high had plenty of rainbow skinned characters

Mattel is a multibillion dollar company. The comments that we are seeing are from someone on their media teams or some unfortunate intern doing busy work. I'm sure that they are trained not to respond to anything that isn't praise. It's not like they have any say in what actually happens in the company.

your dolls are gorgeous but... one of the biggest factors in me buying frankie today was her beautiful face design! more specifically, her eyebrows. they are so detailed in the pics on the website. however, from what i'm seeing in this video, the actual doll has minimum detail on the eyebrows & face :( how upsetting... especially after spending almost $90 with shipping

I purchased Frankie, and was having regret due to all the unflattering screencaps people were taking to trash the doll until I saw this video. Geez, she's GORGEOUS. I plan on buying all of the other 4 dolls in the line too, and I'm just so excited to be purchasing MH dolls again...But Deuce and Cleo breaking up breaks my little heart.

Bruh...$75 each. This amount of quality and details was so normal for the 2010s MH, which cost $20! They sure look very pretty and the reboot seems going the right direction, but at this point I would rather give my money to MGA. Hella happy with my Lily Cheng doll. Shame on you Mattel!

I really don't think RH are good quality. They are full of bad defects from bad paint to defective bodies to terrible hair rooting. I don't want to buy any RH dolls full price due to all their issues.

My thoughts: in love with draculaura, Frankies outfit looks 🔥 but I’m not a fan of their face because it reminds me too much of the reboot and damn, clawdeen being my fave character, they kinda did her dirty, her moschino inspired bag is cute though🤷

The reason these dolls are so expensive and literally every doll monster high releases is because they can see how desperate we are so they're taking advantage of it.
I like the overall looks for the new movie but I wish Draculaura was the smallest of the Ghouls like she originally was. Other than that I love it.
The whole Cleo and Deuce breaking up thing REALLY gives me a lot of the same vibe as Raven and Devon breaking up in Raven’s Home

I’m a highschool student and this just brought back a wave of nostalgia, I have a box in my wardrobe filled with 60-70 monster high dolls from before the reboot. I did have them all displayed on stands in a shelf when I was really young and because of that some of them are in rough shape. I hope to get them back on a shelf if my mother allows it because I miss seeing them in the corner of my room- I lost interest after the reboot but it’s nice to see it’s still a thing now!
These dolls look soooo gorgeous!! Their face paints are just lovely. I'm not normally a fan of rooted eyelashes, but they pull it off.

Also why couldn’t they just use the actual doll for promos? OR Why couldn’t they give their collector doll (with that price point) the detailed promo face? Considering it is priced higher than their previous “collector” dolls. Idk, that just doesn’t sit right with me at all. Especially when you compare those beautiful detailed eyes, eyebrows and face stitches on Frankie to the actual face you get. I do love MH and that Draculaura is really precious. But it is kind of crazy how Mattel chose to come back with higher priced collector dolls AND instead of giving the fans what they advertised, they gave them play line printed faces. :/ No hate, they are beautifully designed.🖤 (and I understand it’s harder to print the more detailed face which is why it’s painted on in the promo.)
I was going to buy Frankie this morning and mattel create doesn't accept PayPal and now she's sold out. I just looked at eBay and I am already seeing scalper trying to cash in and sale the doll at a outrageous prices.

Not sure about getting them, probably not. What makes me happy is that the dolls are still kinda alive. What I enjoyed the most was collecting different and new characters, I was never into buying too many of the same chara (Ghoulia maybe was the exception since she is my fave) so I'm kinda curious what they're going to do next. I love so much these dolls ; - ;

Right, they were the most healthy pair in the whole series. While are other pairs in the show that are also healthy, Draculara and Clawd definitely had the most growth throughout the whole series!

I low-key hated the designer collaboration. Not the designs persay, they're not my taste but that doesn't mean they're bad. It just didn't feel like the ghouls they were inspired by. Especially draculaura. Plus the association with Kanye kinda makes me feel uneasy about the whole thing, especially considering his recent behavior. I don't mean to stick that on the designer herself but it personally gives me an icky feeling. Thats just me though

I think these dolls are amazing but I really have to admit that it's sad that they are not at a more budget-friendly price point. The price of dolls has seem to be getting a little out of hand. Especially since the fact that these are dolls they were originally intended for children. I also think it's the idea people have to wait to get them while UA-cam celebrities get them in advance and become walking billboards and advertisements for the company

AHHHHHH the dolls outfits and faces just look so cool!!! the attention to detail is INSANE! i love how they take reference from some fashion today, and still keep them having their own aesthetic and feeing and just ahhhh!!! i never specifically held drauculara above the others but omg i’m obsessed!! idc what my family thinks i need to get my hands on them….if they weren’t so expensive.. damn it :(
I'm kindda glad they changed the storyline slightly, but not like they did in the 2016 reboot. It's like time passed, and things changed, rather than it being a completely new story

i never expected to get this much from monster high as a franchise, i was expecting just the collector dolls in collaboration with other franchises for the next couple of years to be honest.

I just received Frankie and ordered Clawdeen. I 100% agree that the fashion is an homage to the signature looks with some modern trends added in. I hope Ghoulia and Cleo are the next Haunt Couture dolls 🖤
I think it’s a very nice upgrade they look like they’re older now, especially with the audience that monster high has now we’re all older. I hope they do like a College series maybe
LOVE THE NEW DOLLS, even tho the new collector dolls are more on "cute" than "edgy", they look Good and High Quality rather than the 2017 released, We we're starving and Mattel finally gave us the Monster High we needed, hoping that there will be a new generation of monsters to come
Yeah i do really hope they won t stray too far from the edgy fashion the series is known for. Definitely not a bad thing to update and lean into more modern fashion trends, but don t give up the emo looks lol

To the comments from those who believe the price is to high, I strongly disagree.
I suppose it has to be repeated over and over again until people actually start to let it sink in that the cost of manufacturing quality dolls in 2022 has risen to a level that warrants a higher price tag for these new collector dolls.
Raw materials (like fabrics, plastic and vinyl as well as the printing of high quality boxes) are now double the cost of what they used to be in 2010 when monster high dolls were first released.
The cost of the molds in 2010 for a six piece doll with articulation at the neck, shoulders and hips was about $20,000. With articulation, like most if not all the monster high dolls had, the molds are $50,000-$60,000. Now the cost is $50,000 for basic dolls and as much as $80,000 to $100,000 for articulated dolls.
Complaining that something is not worth the price if you can't afford it is not only ridiculous and unrealistic but self centered and uninformed.
Toy companies like Mattel, Hasbro or MGA are in business to make a profit. They are not evil or good. They can be thought of as predators if we choose, but predators are not Inherently evil, like some villain out to destroy you. They need you alive and spending money!
Trust me, $75.00 is going to look like a bargain once the scalpers start listing these dolls on ebay for three and four times their original asking price.

I think that Monster High is being so smart with this new era they are bringing back the nostalgic feeling which everyone is into nowadays including myself and are really going with that in these new dolls AND merch. I have high hopes for them. I also think that with every single little detail the price makes sense for the collectors, i mean come on they’re COLLECTOR dolls.
The dolls look great, but they're charging a premium price for?? what??. The level of craftsmanship on the outfits and accessories is the same level as playline Rainbow High, but at almost double the price. It makes me kind of worried for the new MH playline if this is what Mattel is marketing as a premium.
Exactly what I’ve been thinking. But I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Honestly as long as it’s not molded clothes/shoes or ugly printed fabrics I’ll be ok with it, and hopefully they won’t stray too far from the quality of their previous dolls (specifically the first few waves) but I’m ready for their modern takes 🖤 :)
Honestly right now I don’t even care about the live action stuff, I just care that those dolls are looking GORGEOUS, so much detail so much style, and no baby faces. All our dreams have come true.
