  • Today we are going to talk about a pretty interesting Inline 6 Toyota motor. The 1G series.. This was a 2 Liter, 24 Valve, 6 Cylinder engine found in a variety of Toyotas. Although it was optioned in so many vehicles, it was never sold in the USA, so it is considered an "unheard of" motor, being offered in imports shipped to the US. We will go over the 1G-GTE, 1G-GE, 1G-FE, 1G-E, 1G-GEU, and more! We will cover this motors problems and tuning scene. Please Note: This video is just an introduction to the 1G.

    i threw a ebay turbo kit on my is200 with 1g fe and it makes 240hp and its a drift car the engine gets a beating

    It would be line to mentioned that 1g gte has 2 versions: 185hp with short air-to-water intercooler and air-2-air. The second was much powerful but deeper turbo lag.
    You put Chaser 100 body in the video, but it had only 1gfe version. All cool 1Gs we’re in mark2-type cars in 70 body: Chaser, Cresta and so on. Also 1ggte was very beautiful engine, in some variants parts were polished and coated by clear coat.

    I have stock internal 1ggte no oil pump mods making 415hp atw on 20psi. No problemo. Been thrashing it for years

    I had no idea these were in the Japanese MK3. I still don't completely understand how non-1JZ MK3s stack up against American 3000cc motors, but I'm pretty sure we got the better end of the deal in a rare case.

    You took lots info from that Russian site. My oil leak came from the front dohc seals not the oil pressure switch

    1g VS jz swap I would say depends on the price for the engine and what power output you aiming for..

    I disagree with your claim about the 1g being the "grandfather" of the 2jz since they have nothing in common beside being Toyota's inline 6 engine
    Also I'm really unsure about your information about the 1g-geu and 1g-ge. 4a-ge are called 4a-geu in the USA and on the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC)
    I couldn't find the meaning of U but it might be related to pollution control (Wich would explain the loss of power just like the 112 HP 4a-ge in USA and Swiss)

    Do the valves on the 1GG-E Yamaha engine bend when the timing belt breaks?

      The 1G-GTE is non-interference. So no, the valves will not touch the pistons in the event of a timing belt problem.

      I believe only vvti 1Gs have interference engines more common found in the 1GFE.

      Not if oil pumps are replaced.... They have issues because oil pumps are 37 years old
