Did you know the man who founded DreamWorks used to be an executive at Disney. He had a major falling out with the company, so when he left Disney he created DreamWorks and Shrek was written as a parody of Disney.
it was also because the same team who worked on the iconic Prince of Egypt were seen as losers by Disney then so Shrek was given to them as a punishment. It went way better than Disney thought, but by then dude had aleady formed Dreamworks with that entire team.
Fun Fact: Rupert Everett was in the running for the voice of Gaston in "Beauty & the Beast", but apparently he lost out on the role because he didn't sound arrogant enough. So when voicing Prince Charming, he went all in!
Shrek 2 is widely considered one of the best sequels of all time not only does it expand on the world of Shrek but it also ups the Humor,Jokes,Action,Adventure, characters etc It’s an improvment in every level and that’s saying something considering how good the first shrek movie is
I actually sympathize with Fiona a lot in this. She loves her parents, she loves Shrek, and she just wants them to try to get along. It’s too real haha. Especially when her parents drove her away by not respecting her choice.
I honestly thought that they made up that song for this movie. But no. It’s a Footloose song. But idc about that. Bc for me, it’ll always be a Shrek 2 song.
I agree. Also, Accidentally In Love quickly became me and my Husband's song after this movie, since it basically describes how we fell for each other. We ended up walking out to it at our wedding before our first dance.
One of THE BEST animated sequels ever and that’s a FACT! I said it before, I’ll say it again: Best one out of the whole franchise, no question!!! Have you heard the fairy godmother’s version of Holding Out for a Hero? They had no right to go this hard! I just love everything about this movie so much😍
When someone asks me “what is one sequel that is better than the original”, this film is easily one of the few examples that pop into my head. And it's easy to see why. It has a much more interesting and less predictable plot that takes major risks (ex: changing Shrek’s appearance), the jokes are more funnier, the fairy tale satire is much sharper, and every new character that the film adds are extremely endearing, and all the established characters all get more depth and even more lovable. In my opinion, this is right up there in the Top 5 when it comes to the funniest animated movies ever.

There are some good Dreamwork movies - "Prince of Egypt" (Won an Oscar) , "Road to El Dorado" (You will recognize a lot of memes/sayings and they came from this movie) , "How to Train Your Dragon Trilogy" #bingers
#bingers While Dreamworks has some incredible franchises like Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, and Kung Fu Panda, the absolute funniest (and underrated) stand alone films are The Road to El Dorado and Megamind.
I think there's a loooot of references you're not getting, Puss in boots jumping out of Shrek's chest (Alien), Puss in Boots saying he hates Mondays (Garfield), The TV show where they arrest them (Cops), Puss in boots at the end with the shower on the chair (Demi Moore's Striptease movie 1996). Ps. In Spanish when the Puss in Boots says "for you baby I can be" instead they say "Por ti baby sería Batman" (For you baby, I'm Batman)
Here is an interesting fact that I think you guys will find impressive and that's regarding its box office performance. With a domestic total of $441.2 million, Shrek 2 at the time was the highest grossing animated film domestically for 12 years until it was usurped by Finding Dory in 2016. It was also the third highest grossing film of all time behind Titanic and Star Wars: A New Hope. It also held the record for having the best second weekend drop for a movie opening with over $100 million (Shrek 2 opened with $108 million) with a drop of 33% to a $72.1 million second weekend. It held this record for 18 years until Top Gun: Maverick last weekend broke it with a 29% drop to a $90 million second weekend.
One of the most impressive things about the Shrek movies is that they've aged so well So many movies I loved as a kid I watch now and I'm like 😬😬😬 yikes I don't remember that being in there But Shrek has aged like a fine wine
I was hoping you’d react to the after-credits scene - definitely look it up if you haven’t seen it, it’s great. ^^ Same with “Far Far Away Idol”, a game that came with the DVD.
This "soup" is called "Fingerbowl" you get it (at least in Europe) when you order something, you'll eat with your hands. Like chicken wings, lobster,... It's usually warm water with lemon slices.
I don't think I've ever seen those here in the US. We typically just use napkins if we need to wipe our hands at the table. Although I have seen them in TV and movies on occasion. Mostly things like Shrek, that take place in more medieval settings. Which, naturally, would usually take place in Europe, so maybe that's why.
I'm a little shocked that you missed the many references in the movie example Puss in Boots says he hates Mondays it was referring to Garfield and the Spiderman reference. Anyway great reaction and Shrek 2 is always the best, that is how you do a sequel!

Even if he never told his wife about his past he could have told his daughter, had a little bonding moment over their transformations and generally just LOVE her for her 100% of the time. Going back to the scene when Shrek and Fiona shows up and the king doesn’t even recognize her goes to show that he didn’t look at her much when she changed at night and that’s disgusting to me. Hurt people really hurt people

If you were a child when you first saw this movie (me included) you fs put on I NEED A HEROOOOOO by the fairy god mother multiple times. This is my favorite movie of the franchise and not even the original comes close. The fairy god mother is an icon. No offense to the person who made the song I need a hero but the fairy god mother is mainly known for this song💀.
My favourite Dreamworks film is, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. It also has the best soundtrack of any film in my opinion. #bingers Also, there was an amazing short scene in the post-credits of this film. Its very short but great, you should watch it when you can.
Honestly just shrek 3 & 4, they are almost as iconic as the first ones and they are just such amazing movies. One of the few series that don’t get worse as sequels are made.
Dreamworks used to make amazing films. There are definitely some hidden gems. The first ones that come to my mind are Road to El Dorado and The Prince of Egypt, no idea if you've seen them before. #bingers
Good story, music. Good FOOD! Oh Lordy, the food here is mouthwatering. The situation is realistic. I can watch this movie on repeat and never get bored
Really looking forward to watching this commentary reaction. This is my absolute favorite of the "Shrek" sequels. I've got a glass of water getting cold and ready in the refrigerator for when I watch this video. I very highly recommend the 2007 movie "Stardust". #Bingers
I couldn't stop laughing. You made me laugh so hard. That was funny as hell. I will be feeling that gut pain later on from laughing so hard. You are one a kind I ant lying about that. I hope more movies are as funny as this one turned out to be.
#bingers Billy Dreamworks has _Bangers_ but here are a few that you should watch. Preferably in this order 1. *The Prince of Egypt* - probably one of the best animated movies of all time (and yes I'm including anime movies) 2. *Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron* - great story, great soundtrack, great animation. Also one of my top 5 animated movies period. 3. *How to train your dragon trilogy* my favourite is the 1st movie but all of them are good. The main character is really interesting And he has sarcasm for days! 4. *Kung Fu Panada* Martial arts, Jokes, Jack Black and jokes with HARD hitting life lessons
The absolute best sequel and soundtrack. I was hoping you liked FairyGodmother’s song. Billy, for pride month you need to react to either Too Wong Foo, Thanks for everything, Julie Newmar, or The Birdcage #bingers
I stand by Shrek 2 being one of the best sequels to exist. I remember seeing this in theaters with my dad, and never in my life had I heard this man laugh as hard as he did. One of my favorite memories as a kid.
i am so glad i found you!!! btw idk if it would be a video/stream/just personal time but you should 1000000% check out the extras from shrek 2!!!!! they did some parody of american idol and it’s absolutely incredible, espec the music, and like 15+ more minutes of content from all the cast if memory is serving me!
This is SUCH a great sequel!!! And the soundtracks for the first and second Shrek are AWESOME!!!! Counting Crows sings that first song, they're a fantastic '90s band!!
This has to be one of the most iconic Shrek movies out of the 4. Besides Forever After I LIVE for that movie. Hope you’re having a good day Billy. (I know I’m late but it’s ok❤️😌)
English being my second language, i grew up with the Spanish dubbed version, and I can tell you IT IS THE BETTER VERSION. The jokes, the comedy, the feelings are just superior in spanish than the original english.
I haven't been able to watch anything Shrek since the whole Shrek is love Shrek is life stuff so I'm using your reactions to reintroduce myself to the movies lol
Hey Billy There is an extra thing you have to wait for, shows them after the song is done donkey is depressed and puss who is with some girls invites him out and he declines. Then Dragon shows up and tells him something donkey is like what?? And then a bunch of their mutant dragon babies come flying in. When Shrek says his line about it in forever after, they were introduced with this movie.
the opening song is called Accidentally in Love by Counting Crows. It was nominated for best original song at the Oscars but lost to Al otro lado del rio. Yeah, it's a foreign movie
Should I do Shrek the musical? Thats the only thing I ahvent watched yet. Is it worth it?

All I want to know is, what was Dagon like when she turned "beautiful"? Lol I love this shrek movie

Also, there was an amazing short scene in the post-credits of this film. Its very short but great, you should watch it when you can.
I love that the Garfield reference went right over your head 🤣 Puss hating Mondays is a Garfield reference and they're both orange.
Some people don't like shrek 3rd as much as this, but honestly the humor is iconic and even wilder
Honestly just shrek 3 & 4, they are almost as iconic as the first ones and they are just such amazing movies. One of the few series that don’t get worse as sequels are made.
No, Shrek the Third was bad.
The fact that I’ve watched this movie so many time and never caught the “gender confused wolf” line.😂
Shrek 3 is also pretty funny. Because of that one, I cannot listen to the immigrant song by led zeppelin without thinking of snow white
Dreamworks used to make amazing films. There are definitely some hidden gems. The first ones that come to my mind are Road to El Dorado and The Prince of Egypt, no idea if you've seen them before. #bingers
#bingers PLEEEEASE watch these two movies! The Road to El Dorado is hilarious 😂
I've never heard of El Dorado at all until I watched Animat's review of it and he actually liked it.
#Bingers
Stardust is a fun one! I love Charlie Cox!
Preferably in this order
1. *The Prince of Egypt* - probably one of the best animated movies of all time (and yes I'm including anime movies)
The Birdcage is such an absolute classic! #bingers
Yes! the shrek film with the evil god mother is such a good movie lol love all of your reactions.
MEGAMIND it's a DreamWorks movie that was waaay ahead of it's time
Omg yess , watching from England ! Was waiting for this one !! X
I stand by Shrek 2 being one of the best sequels to exist. I remember seeing this in theaters with my dad, and never in my life had I heard this man laugh as hard as he did. One of my favorite memories as a kid.
"Get with the program or get out of the way." I need to start using that in my life 😂
i am so glad i found you!!! btw idk if it would be a video/stream/just personal time but you should 1000000% check out the extras from shrek 2!!!!! they did some parody of american idol and it’s absolutely incredible, espec the music, and like 15+ more minutes of content from all the cast if memory is serving me!
The counting crows- accidentally in love
English being my second language, i grew up with the Spanish dubbed version, and I can tell you IT IS THE BETTER VERSION. The jokes, the comedy, the feelings are just superior in spanish than the original english.
Agree!
How so? I’m curious now
I haven't been able to watch anything Shrek since the whole Shrek is love Shrek is life stuff so I'm using your reactions to reintroduce myself to the movies lol
Shrek 2 is my favorite shrek movie 💯
the adam project on netflix is such a cool sci-fic movie! the quality is so good and it features ryan reynolds. and who doesn’t love ryan? #bingers
Shark Tale is definitely a dreamworks classic.
#Bingers
13:39 This is where the fun begins
There was also a post credit scene, it’s important for the next one. Wonderful video as usual!
#bingers
Billy, you should definitely do a commentary on How To Train Your Dragon, such an amazing franchise and it's DreamWorks😌😌
love those movies! the first is by far the best but damn that sequel gets dark
Definitely
Didn’t see this comment so I made a comment recommending it too. Just hopefully increased the odds of it happening lol
Yes another great great series!!!
I don’t remember this movie having all these adult jokes. The writers were so wild 😭😭
